Celestine Black
Pairing: Josephine Montilyet & Solas (gen) Characters: Josephine Montilyet, Solas Fandom: Dragon Age: Inquisition Archive Warnings: None Applicable Other Tags: Classism, Fantasy racism Summary: Though Skyhold's guests may be of noble blood, their manners often leave much to be desired. When one insults the Inquisition's resident magical expert, who just so happens to be an apostate, Josephine takes it upon herself to remedy the situation. In typical Montilyet fashion. Written for TheSilentBard on AO3 for the @solas-lovers-exchange
“Apostate!” The word is an accusation upon Lady Verise’s lips, cutting as the shattered glass on the rotunda floor.
Josephine catches no more than a glint in the corner of her eye before she hears it break. By the time she looks it has scattered, broken pieces crawling across the stone like a plague of translucent roaches. Wine slides down Solas’s temple. Thick and viscous, it dries a violent plum purple where it landed on his sweater. The delicate slope of Lady Verise’s nose rather resembles the bellows of an accordion as she snarls in his direction.
The rest of the room looks on in a mix of shock and amusement. A knowing smile curls beneath the porcelain moustache of Lord Maigny, a sure sign that she ought to have expected this. Anticipated it in some way. It had seemed improper, showing off the murals without giving the artist his due, especially not when he stood so close at hand.
But it was a mistake, that much has been made evident.
Solas is the first to speak, dabbing at his face with a paint cloth as he does. “It appears our guest is in need of another glass,” he remarks, in a tone remarkably dry for one so damp. He levels his gaze towards the guest in question, then ducks it, deferential. “You are of course correct, my lady. I have never known the Circle’s guidance, although the loyal mages within the Inquisition have made it their mission to remedy the oversights brought about by a hedge mage’s education. Should you have the opportunity to speak with Enchanter Vivienne while you are here; I am certain you will find her insight as to my insufficiencies invaluable, and how she has endeavoured to correct them.”
Josephine bites the inside of her cheek to keep from smirking (a critical skill for an elder sister and ambassador to possess). Although she possesses no limit to her admiration for Vivienne, she had sat in on one of their discussions long enough to become well-acquainted with Solas’s. Still, if asked, she has no doubt Vivienne will play along. She has tied her reputation to that of the Inquisitions, and undermining that, as well as her own influence within it, is not how the game is played.
“Madame de fer was among the few dissenters in Empress Celene’s court after she invited the swamp witch into our midst,” Lady Verise tsks. “Why would she abide an apostate’s company?”
Seeing the chance to retake the reins of the situation, Josephine steps in. “If I may be so bold as to speak on Enchanter Vivienne’s behalf: Master Solas has behaved with the utmost propriety since joining our ranks. Any reservations we had regarding his position here have long since passed.”

Being the Herald of Andraste should really come with a manual.
(Luckily the advisors are all too happy to help Irith out by giving a crash course on Thedas Basics)

One for all, and all for one.

Here we are, an attempt at a more historically accurate costume, lead to a Three Musketeers AU (Three Inquisitors? Three Advisers + 1 Inquisitor?), but make it an all girls team. Think about it, it just writes itself.
(I am wondering if Josie has too much ruffles. Or too little.)
If the writers at Bioware that took care of the mission Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts aren't fan of the Three Musketeers I'll eat all the ruffles here. Militaresque organisation hiring all kind of reckless rambunctious people, at a grand ball to save (or not) the Queen, saving said Queen involves retrieving a very special necklace. Come on.

I am so glad, back when Exandria Unlimited first aired, something in me decided that Dorian had to be tagged with his full name. No other CR character gets full name tagged, but Dorian Storm? that’s a name that needs both
which is really good now that I’m playing dragon age and reblogging posts about Dorian Pavus. imagine if I just used the first name for both. utter chaos in the Dorian tag

Friends in High Places:
Just a drabble based on a piece of fan art that I will edit into this post if I can ever find it again.
As a rule, Josephine Montilyet was a patient woman. However standing at the end of an ally waiting on the inquisitor was hardly a welcome pass time. They had come to Val Royux for the simple task of re-outfitting guest rooms for an upcoming, very picky noble visitor. Kaaras however had clearly gotten rather bored with the excursion, so Josephine had told them they could look at other shops while she finished the necessary preparations. Kaaras had promised to meet her here when they were both done, at high noon. Josephine had been waiting going on twenty minutes, and was now wondering if the Inquisitor had found another cause to get involved in, as they often did. She could not begrudge the influence garnered by their ability to involve themself in even the most petty squabble, but all the same, she rather wished she had agreed to meet at the tea shop instead. At least then she could sip a cup of tea and go over ledgers while she waited. "Hey Lady." a gruff and unfamiliar voice sounded from around a nearby corner. Emerging from behind it was a half armored hooded young man, followed by three others in similar garb. Josephine did her best to cover the irritation in her voice as she asked, "May I help you?"
"Hand over your coins," the lead figure stated with a cocky smile, "and nobody gets hurt." Josephine could not stop the quirk of her eyebrow, these thieves clearly were not regulars about Val Royux, anyone with sense would know not to mess with the ambassador of the Inquisition without far more forces. Josephine was no regular fighter for certain, though she was hardly defenseless on her own, but the Inquisitor had a, well justified, reputation for being protective of their people. "An' don't even think about screaming." The bandit continued, "We don't wanna shed more blood than necessary." At the same time a momentary blur of grey and black passed in the corner of Josephine's eye, from the top of a nearby building. Resisting the urge to shake her head at the inquisitor's flair for dramatic entrances she did her best to defuse the situation. "Monsieur, I am sorry that you find me in such poor condition," Josephine made a shallow bow, "you see, I fear my friend will arrive quite soon." Glancing at one another one of the thieves murmured "friend?", then they all began to laugh. "Look at that boss," one said "Nobles are throwing themselves at us. Two for the trouble of one." the "boss" laughed, "I might stop by the Chantry and start praying once we're done! Thank the maker for today." "Oh," Josephine sought to clarify. "I am afraid my friend is not a noble. At least not by birthright." she brought a hand to her chin wondering how to best broach the subject of who exactly they were messing with, "Does the name Adaar ring any bells?" It was clear by the dumbfounded expressions it did not. She almost pitied them for their ignorance, clearly there was no hope for this lot. "It means weapon, so I have been told." she tried to warn. "Likes to jump from high places." she allowed a twinge of annoyance to enter her words here. The bandits however were unmoved. "3 meters tall..." she attempted, though they only looked to each other in confusion at this, "Grey, does grey make you think of anything?" "No..?" "Carries a large sword, approximately my size..." "Look I don't care who your friend is lady just hand over the money." the man stated impatiently, inching closer with his blade. Josephine pinched the bridge of her nose as the bird's chirp sounded just above her. "Oh dear, now I do wish I had brought paper to write your names." It was at this point Kaaras decided to make themself known scuffing their boot on the roof of the building behind Josephine. "Huh? Who's there?" the thief barely had time to get the words out before Kaaras Adaar landed just behind the ambassador with a graceful crouch, before raising themself to full height, towering over Josephine. "Sorry I'm late." Josephine could hear the smirk in Kaaras' voice. The thieves, for their parts, seemed rather frozen in shock. "Boss....?" one murmured. There wasn't time for anything else before Kaaras broke into action, before any of them could get the good sense to run they were all unconscious on the ground. "You're unharmed, correct, Josie?" "Yes Inquisitor I am quite alright, next time, however, we will definitely meet at the tea shop." "Aw, but Josie they always make me stay for something, and the cups and chairs are so tiny..." Kaaras complained like a child. "Plus, better we catch these idiots then someone get hurt right?" "I suppose, but I would rather not play the bait, perhaps bring Dorian to do so in the future." "Please, Dorian would just fry them himself. It wouldn't be nearly as..." Josephine fixed them with a look. "erm... safe, for the bandits, I just knocked them out, they wouldn't escape Dorian without a few good burns." "An admirable point Inquisitor. Either way, we should see these men to our scouts to be dealt with by the proper authorities."

Inquisition never let Josephine on screen threaten someone with the complete annihilation of their noble linage to their face and I can only assume it's because a. Bioware is a bunch of cowards or b. that would actually be too terrifying to witness and also insanely hot

♡ NSFW(ish) Honey Adaar & Josephine Montilyet Drabble ♡
Kissing Josephine from the base of her neck to her earlobe, Honey works slowly to savour each moment with her lover. She is determined to explore every curve and dip of her body, working to navigate Josephine’s valleys and peaks like she could a mapped landscape. Memorizing the sound of the ambassador’s pleasure, Honey nips at the exposed skin under her jaw. Each new note inspired by an act of love unites to compose a symphonic ballad, one specially titled Honey. Knowing Josephine’s honey-laced whimpers are for her – because of her – is enough for the Inquisitor to die a happy woman.
Honey gropes her lover’s breast over her ruffled day-wear, lazily trailing kisses across her collarbone. Josephine emits a squeak, purring as Honey presses into her body with fervour.
Backing away slightly, Honey straddles Josephine, slowly lifting her hand to softly dust kisses upon her knuckles. Josie looks at her curiously now, her hazel-green eyes full of tenderness and warmth, dazed from the heat between them. Her dark locks, usually tied in a neat up-do, are now messily falling out of their pins, half-splayed across the pillow she lays on. Josephine’s skin glistens with beads of sweat, her face aglow in the light of the moon draping the Inquisitor’s quarters and warmed by the red and orange hues of a flickering candle.
“You are so beautiful,” Honey whispers, her eyes softening.
Josephine smiles sweetly, chest heaving from Honey’s affections. She raises a free hand to her love’s face, Honey ducking to meet her embrace, her eyes fluttering shut. Tenderly cradling her face, Josie traces a thumb over Honey’s flushed cheek.
“And you, my lady,” Josephine said, “are a sight to behold.”
