Can I just add the way they not only weaponise Laena in order to give the impression they care about black women but the fact that they criticised the shoe not having D be in love with her despite L being N’s age on the show when he married and has two kids with her in the span of like 2 years. They conveniently ignore the fact that D endangered teenage L’s health by impregnating her twice in such a rapid succession which might have later caused her to have problems with giving birth again like it was the case with Aemma(Alicent was really lucky the same didn’t happen to her ugh)but love to bring up how young N is in order to make it look like her fans want her to be groomed and abused which is not the case at all.🙄

Show Laena was only impregnated once by Daemon as a teenager(their girls are twins at least they are supposed to be twins in the books), but yeah that probably messed her up/affected her ability to safely have other children.

There is no basis for Rhaenyra’s hate of Nettles other than her general paranoia(of bastards no less which is ironic as hell) which was stoked by a butt hurt Misery.

I never called Daemon her victim. He is/was a grown a** fictional man. He was never her victim. I even said that Rhaenyra was groomed by him.

It was bad enough when Daemyra stans were trying to say Nettles was just a “plot device” and should be cut from the show or replaced with Rhaena, but now some Green stans are trying to reduce her characterization and significance to the narrative as well 🤦🏽‍♀️I can’t emphasize this enough, Nettles is not just some downtrodden teenage girl that Daemon screwed.

Nettles is the only canonically Black character in Fire & Blood. She’s possibly the only non-Valyrian dragon rider that we know of. She claimed a dragon not with blood ties or magic, but with her own cleverness. She tamed Sheepstealer, a wild dragon who had never had a rider before. Who killed numerous dragonseeds before her. She comes from absolutely nothing. She survives the dance, and she is worshipped as a freaking fire goddess. Her story begins and ends independently of Daemon.

At any rate, there is nothing wrong with Daemon and Nettles' romantic relationship. Fans are underestimating its importance to the story. Yeah, the age gap can be questionable, as well as the power dynamics, but Daemon does actually put Nettles first above everyone. Above everything. She helps him to realize the possibility that Valyrian supremacy is built on a lie. That there is more to life than power or the Iron Throne. You are more than your blood or your name and she shows that.

Nettles is his light. Daemon is not a morally gray character without her. Daemon and Rhaenyra was never supposed to be a love story. Rhaenyra was a tyrant(and yeah it’s partially Daemon’s fault) by the time Daemon and Nettles became lovers. Hell, he was already "cheating" on her with Mysaria. If he had stuck by his wife’s side what kind of man would he be? If he had gone back to Rhaenyra or let her orders for Nettles' head be executed in a bid to remain “loyal” to her and her cause, what does that say about him?

He would have have never progressed as a character. He would have remained a conniving overly ambitious man with a superiority complex willing to use and trample over innocents for a throne.

Daemon genuinely cares for Nettles. For the first time in her life, she has someone willing to do everything for her. He loves her. Unselfishly. In a way, I would say that they liberate one another from fear and dogma. So no, she doesn’t need “saving” from him. Nettles isn’t Daemon’s poor unfortunate victim.

You dislike Daemon or whatever fine, but don’t bring Nettles into it as a “gotcha moment.” Nettles can stand on her own. She’s not a good-time girl. She’s not some little girl being misused. She doesn’t serve to make Daemon look more villainous. She’s not some trivial character that can be replaced by another in the show just because they now happen to share the same skin tone.

She is an important character in her own right. She has her own story. Her relationship with Daemon is not one based on grooming or abuse. Let Nettles be complex. Let her be loved. See her as someone who is vulnerable yet resilient and capable. See her as her own force. Put some respect on Netty’s name👏🏽

I'm a not a huge fan of Daemon, for me the only cool things about him are his sword and dragon. A few days ago I tried to read some Daemon x reader fanfics just to see how it is and you know, maybe there is something about him that isn't...messed up. But It was exactly what I thought for the most part. It was mostly just D**myra x reader oneshots or Daemon x niece! reader fics. But I wasn't at all prepared for romantic Daemon x daughter!reader stuff and....that was just beyond weird. I can't describe it. I can't fathom how anyone can write such a thing even if it's fictional. There was also a romantic Daemyra x daughter! reader fic....this fandom is getting worse every day. The fact that it was smut just made me completely lose any interest in his character.

The state of Daemon’s fics is not that great. I had to start creating my own because they by in large just weren’t inclusive🙃(even the ones that aren’t incest, and there is still a way to make incest inclusive, have a white reader in mind, but that’s the case with most fandoms).

That being said, I may rag on this man, and I do love to read other people raging on him, but I do genuinely love Daemon Targaryen(he’s the whole reason I started writing fanfiction), I have written Daemon x niece!reader fanfic, and I’m about to start writing Daemon with one(or both) of his daughters…

As a self-proclaimed Daemon stan, he’s the type of character who you either love or you hate.

He is admittedly a psycho(well his show! counterpart has been shown in not the best light and that’s what most of these fics are based on), but he’s got charisma. He’s charming. He has this dark aura about him and there is something so alluring about that darkness.

I mean think of all the other fictional bad boys that have a large fanbase or massive appeal because of their dark and brooding ways. In recent years you’ve got Draco Malfoy, Prince Zuko, Edward Cullen, The Darkling, Namor, Massimo from 365 Days, and Kylo Ren(and now Daemon and Aemond). Go even further back and you have characters like Mr. Rochester from Jane Eyre and the Beast from Beauty and the Beast.

These guys are not “good guys” by any stretch of the imagination. Most of them are terrible people(or at least unpleasant) who in real life you should probably avoid. However, their darkness is appealing, and at the center of most of these stories is a woman who has captured this beastly man’s attention and love(and has changed him in a way).

Now as far as his “fanbase”(they are by and large Dumbnyra stans which is why I stay on my island 🏝️ now) leaning into the whole incest /blood supremacy theme, yeah a lot of it is low-key creepy. I may be hypocritical saying it, but the way they do it doesn’t seem normal especially when you take into account how they treat certain characters like Nettles(who is the one who changes him in canon, but they dislike her and want to acknowledge her importance to him due to her not looking like them😙).

I’ll leave it off by saying if you dislike Daemon most of his fics aren’t going to make you like him because of the nature of the content. No one is trying to show him in a good light. His appeal is in the fact that he’s this powerful temperamental brute of a man that their chosen self-insert (s) “tames”🤷🏽‍♀️

I don’t know what’s more problematic them talking about racism against the Velaryons and using Rhaena to cyber yo their own racism towards N or creating these threads in general. Cause she has her own storyline that is going to play out, but you want her there because you know deep down that Daemon did not see Nettles as his daughter. It makes absolutely 0 sense to swap out Nettles for Rhaena and adds absolutely nothing to the story.

They can tolerate Black/Blackish women characters as long as they aren’t with their faves. Rhaena(and Baela) are fine cause they’re Daemon’s kids therefore they pose no threat to Daemyra(this ship has literally become my most hated ship due to the crazy fans it attracts).

Seeing Black/Blackish women in a more subservient or non-romantic roles is what they are used to. And like you said this happens in a lot of fandoms.

Yeah the treatment of Alys is similar to Nettles. Some Hellman’s fans have linked up with some Dumbnyra stans and have taken to rewriting canon so that their hell ships can live on.

The only thing I can say about the Alys/Aemond situation is that they can’t deny canon like they do with Dumbnyra. Hellman’s is not in the book at all and is 100% made up cause they wanted Aemond to have an incest ship. Rhaena is right there people and it would make more sense, but you know why they don’t ship them 🫠

Bottom line is these shippers can’t stand to see Daemon “leave” their Targaryen queen for Rhaenyra 👸🏼for Nettles 👩🏾🐑🐉, a non-Valyrian(Black woman) character.

So they pretend like all the accounts(literally every account says they were/likely lovers) is not factual somehow. Yet nowhere does it state in the books that Rhaenyra is the love of Daemon’s life. Delusional I tell you.

People need to stop pretending Daemyra is some kind of epic romance with tragic ending cause they both get separated by death. It's not. Daemon is fated to grow apart from Rhaenyra, before his death (if actually happened) and according leaks this is happening, so why crying whining for it?? It's nothing new. It's actual Canon that Daemon is doing his own things without giving shit about Rhaenyra's will, cheating on her ecc. Daemon is not good guy, accept it, people.

Daemon has no characterization other than being an a**hole. Characterization is actually all over the place for all the characters(including Rhaenyra but she’s shown in a more nuanced light), but Daemon is suffering a lot from them stripping away all the good parts of his narrative. Lol the meltdowns when he choked out the love of his life were epic.

I even saw some Daemyra stans try to say that Rhaenyra liked being choked in that scene. Like it was some kinky foreplay 🫠when in reality Daemon was pissed off to learn that his big bro never considered him to be his true heir. Daemon and Rhaenyra seem like a business transaction to me. Daemon has 0 chemistry with adult Rhaenyra. As you stated they don’t like Nettles cause when she pops up there house of cards will come tumbling down. They are literally scared of book canon being played out on the small screen.
