I love literally everything about nyame but my favorite thing about him rn is how hard he works to downplay himself.
he's the smartest, most capable man in the entire series but spends it essentially going "kill a man? my clumsy ass can't even walk in a straight line 😂" and "wow I wish one day I could be as cool as you 🥺" to literally everyone and "im just a guy, just a little guy, just a friend 🙂" all the while he's running a secondary government and being the only person standing between the people of lombrica and death by starvation

APRIL 2011
Sob, apa pendapatmu tentang profesi nelayan saat ini?
a) Kasihan karena makin ditinggalkan = 11,77%
b) Salut, tanpa nelayan kita nggak bisa makan ikan = 58,82%
c) Sedih karena cuaca nggak menentu, nelayan sering nggak melaut = 29,41%
Sob-X, ada yang suka makan ikan nggak? Pastinya ada dong ah. Secara gitu, ikan kan juga makanan yang baik untuk kesehatan. Banyak mengandung protein, omega 3, sampai kolestrol yang baik buat tubuh kita. Jadi, tunggu apa lagi?! Yuk, kita makan ikan! Nyam nyam nyam.
Ups, tapi jangan asal makan dulu, Sob. Ternyata, nggak semua orang suka makan ikan loh. Ada juga orang yang nggak suka mengonsumsi ikan karena berbagai alasan. Ada yang nggak tahan karena bau amisnya, sampai ribet karena banyak duri alias tulangnya. Well, namanya juga masalah makanan. Kembali lagi sama masalah selera. Yup, selera makan orang kan beda-beda. Tapi, coba deh sesekali makan ikan. Sayang banget kalau nggak makan sumber daya alam dari laut ini. Sekali seumur hidup aja. Hehehe, jadi maksa gini dah.
Oke, tapi Sob-X pernah kepikiran nggak sih kalau ikan itu asalnya dari mana? Bukan dari pasar loh ya. Ternyata, ikan itu berasal dari laut loh. Dan, orang yang sangat berjasa sekali sehingga kita dapat mencicipi ikan di meja makan atau di warung tenda seafood adalah… ada yang tau? Yup, dia lah seorang nelayan! Kasih tepuk tangan dulu deh buat para nelayan Indonesia. Prok prok prok.
FYI, hari ini juga bertepatan dengan Hari Nelayan Nasional loh. Yuk, sejenak kita memikirkan nasib pejuang laut ini yuk. Jangan taunya makannya aja. Jadi, apa yang ada di pikiran Sob-X tentang profesi nelayan? Sebanyak 11,77 persen Sob-X mengungkapkan, profesi nelayan sekarang ini menimbulkan rasa kasihan karena makin ditinggalkan. Lihat deh komentar Arif. Menurut cowok asal Pandeglang ini, Penghasilan nelayan nggak menentu. “Beda banget sama di Jepang. Di sana yang jadi nelayan, jadi orang kaya semua,” ujar kelahiran 3 Juli 1993 ini.
Namun, paling banyak Sob-X menyatakan, salut abis sama profesi nelayan karena tanpa nelayan, kita nggak bakal bisa makan ikan. Pendapat ini terakumulasi sebanyak 58,82 persen. Tengok Dedy Alam Syah. Katanya, walaupun cuaca sekarang ini sangat tidak bersahabat bagi nelayan, tapi mereka tetap mencari ikan untuk menafkahi anak dan istri mereka. “Tetep semangat buat para nelayan,” imbuhnya.
Ada lagi Ayi. Cewek berjilbab ini beropini, meski gelombang laut masih besar, mereka selalu mencari ikan. “Itu dilakukan untuk melengkapi kehidupan kita semua dan keluarganya,” kata Ayi. Terus, Nay Nina berpendapat, salut banget, tapi kasian juga karena nelayan butuh perjuangan mendapatkan ikan. “Soalnya nyari ikan tuh susah-susah gampang. Apalagi kalau nggak dapet-dapet ikannya. Kan ngeselin banget tuh,” tambahnya.
Tapi, tunggu dulu, Sob. Ada juga Sob-X yang berpendapat, sedih juga jadi nelayan. Terlebih melihat cuaca yang nggak menentu. Nelayan jadi sering nggak melaut. Perhatiin deh apa kata Fathul Mu'in Muhammad Azzam. Katanya, cuaca sekarang sangat ekstrem. “Dan itu sangat membahayakan bagi keselamatan nelayan yang mau mencari ikan di laut,” jelas mahasiswa UPI ini. Opininya ini terhitung ada sebanyak 29,41 persen.
Iseu Synthia Permata Sari juga setuju sama Fathul. Menurutnya, cuaca lagi nggak menentu. Kadang panas, kadang tiba-tiba hujan. “Pokoknya, hati-hati aja untuk para nelayan. Didoakan semoga tidak ada kejadian yang tidak diinginkan,” pungkas pelajar dari SMPN 3 Pandeglang.
Jadi, udah tau kan kalau untuk makan seekor ikan aja, ternyata membutuhkan perjuangan pak nelayan yang sangat besar. Makanya, dihabiskan ya makannya. Itung-itung menghargai jerih-payah nelayan Indonesia. So, selamat Hari Nelayan untuk semua nelayan se-Nusantara. Ingat ikan, ingat nelayan! (naufal-xpresi)

were the black prince's sisters brought up at all in tcor?? i was always interested in hearing more about them and i am not going to be reading tcor anytime soon lol

yes! I thought he was supposed to have two but only one--Haniah, suuuch a pretty name--was talked about in tcor. she was killed when nyame was 12ish in an attack on the motley folk because citizens of whatever country they were in started spreading rumors that the strolling players were child traffickers so there was a massacre. to distract nyame, orpheus' henchman causes another attack in-book that was given C R I M I N A L L Y little screen time or attention that dredges up bad memories.
nyame also gets cursed with spell of Your-Long-Healed-Pain-Is-Fresh-Like-It-Just-Happened later on in the book so he keeps feeling like his sister is dying over and over again. I can't be mad, I did say a few months ago I wanted to see him tortured (affectionate)
also you didn't ask but nyame and haniah's mother was long-dead by the time haniah died but there's a line that implies she had been badly burned at some point? if I could draw you all would never see the end of mom-with-burn-scars and the kids 😤
