The West Philippine Sea Dispute
The contested expanse of the South China Sea (SCS) holds profound significance for the Philippines, extending far beyond mere geographical proximity. The 2012 renaming of a portion of the SCS as the "West Philippine Sea" (WPS) stands as a multi-layered strategic response employed by the Philippines to navigate the complex legal, political, and socio-economic realities arising from overlapping maritime claims in the region. This act necessitates a nuanced analysis, revealing the interwoven strands of international law, national identity, and resource protection that comprise the essence of the "WPS" designation.
On the legal front, the Philippines, like any coastal state, possesses legally recognized entitlements under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). These entitlements include an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and, in some cases, an extended continental shelf (ECS). These zones are critical for securing marine resources, fostering economic activity, and ensuring national security. However, China's expansive "nine-dash line" claim significantly overlaps with the Philippines' maritime entitlements, posing a direct challenge to their legitimacy and jeopardizing their economic and strategic interests.
The act of renaming a portion of the SCS as the "WPS" serves as a multifaceted response to this complex geopolitical landscape. Legally, it signifies the Philippines' unwavering commitment to international law and their unwavering assertion of their UNCLOS-derived rights within the contested maritime space. By reclaiming the geographical nomenclature, the Philippines aims to delegitimize competing claims and strengthen their legal position in any potential dispute resolution mechanisms.
Politically, the "WPS" designation serves as a rallying cry for domestic support and strengthens national resolve in the face of external pressure. It fosters a sense of shared ownership and responsibility over the contested waters, mobilizing public opinion and political will towards safeguarding national interests. This resonates deeply within the Filipino national consciousness, where historical narratives emphasize the importance of maritime resources and the defense of territorial integrity.
Socio-economically, the "WPS" designation serves as a tool for reclaiming and protecting the livelihoods of coastal communities directly impacted by overlapping claims. By asserting its rights to the contested waters, the Philippines aims to ensure continued access to vital fishing grounds and marine resources, safeguarding the economic well-being of coastal communities and contributing to national food security.
In conclusion, the "WPS" designation transcends mere geographical renaming. It embodies a strategic response to complex legal, political, and socio-economic challenges posed by overlapping maritime claims in the SCS. It serves as a potent symbol of the Philippines' commitment to international law, its national identity, and the well-being of its citizens.Understanding the multifaceted nature of this act is crucial for navigating the intricacies of the SCS dispute and appreciating the nuanced perspectives of the stakeholders involved.

Start of a New Day
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I woke up early in the morning very excited because I am going to Lianga, Surigao del Sur for taking an exam at NEMSU to unlock another opportunity. When I am at the test center, I felt nervous and worried thinking if I failed the exam because it is one of my biggest opportunity to start my college life sooner.
After I finished the exam, I felt relieved and excited because afterwards we're going to the beach together with my classmates/friends as what we've decided. As I arrived at the beach, my heart pounding with happiness and joy because it's almost a year since I visited the beach. I forgot worrying about the result of exam and my problems. I just enjoy the moment and just had some fun.
At the end of the day, I realized that even though the test made me a heavy feelings, there's always a way to make it better. Being at the beach refreshes me from the stressful events that happened to me during that day, and start a new beautiful day. From stressed to refreshed.

Learning through experiences
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
HYPOTHESIS:
People were asked about the installation of hot and cold-water stations inside CMU and each college building will be convenient for people looking for water to make coffee for their morning classes.
RESULT FOUND:
A first-year student majoring in Filipino Education affirmed the convenience of having hot and cold-water stations. She mentioned that it would be beneficial for student like her who prefer to have coffee before morning classes. The approval of the first interviewee supports the hypothesis that the water stations would cater to the needs of student seeking hot water for beverages, particularly in the mornings.
The second interviewee studying soil science a first year student expressed the approval of the hypothesis. He highlighted that such amenities would be particularly beneficial for students with late or early classes.  His response aligns with the hypothesis, indicating that the provision of hot and cold water stations would indeed enhance convenience for students attending classes during non-standard hours.
A first-year student in Environmental Science, expressed approval of the water station proposal, emphasizing the reliability of the water provided. She mentioned that according to her studies in chemistry, water from college fountains might not always be entirely clean. Therefore, having water stations utilizing distilled water would provide a sense of cleanliness and reliability. Yuki's response supports the hypothesis, indicating that the provision of hot and cold water stations with distilled water options would indeed offer a reliable water source, addressing concerns about water quality within the campus environment
Furthermore, during the interview week, me and my group mates were able to discuss the time, place, when and where should the interview take its place and what will be the process of it. It was carefully planned because we did not want to distract students. After a thorough discussion, we were able to plan out that the interview will be done during our free time and the free time of the students. By asking permission to them, we will be able to conduct the interview. Moreover, options were discussed regarding the date of the interview because of our different time and also to our respondent. We came up with an idea that we will conduct our interview after the class before going home and approach a student who sits in the bench.
During the process of interviewing we learned as a team that many students are approved to having a hot and cold water station in the campus. We learned that in our daily life, water is the best source that keeps us hydrates and survive the day without being too exhausted. We learned that students are looking for easy and accessible source of water especially to those student who’s classes are morning or late in the evening.

EcoBro- Reverse Vending Machine: 2nd Blog-Journey After Venture Proposal.
Every journey starts with a destination in mind. Similarly, a venture proposal begins with a clear statement of its aim, objectives, and projected outcomes. The venture proposal is more than just a series of steps, it is a transformative journey that tests our skills, resilience, determination, and confidence.
Tumblr media
Last time, we interviewed people around Central Mindanao University about the issues they faced on campus. We gathered data and made use of the collected data to decide on a project for our start-up. The project we decided on was a reverse vending machine. The machine is designed to collect empty plastic bottles and cans in exchange for coupons or money as a reward and will make use of the collected plastics.
We also used the collected data in our venture proposal presentation. Before the proposal, we brainstorm our ideas by understanding our customers, asking for suggestions and opinions from other individuals, and listing the pros and cons of our product. In the planning and preparation of our proposal, collaboration and communication with the team were very effective as we worked to align the project goals. Unfortunately, we lost someone from our team. It is so sudden, but we were so excited for the coming proposal to prove our point and our idea together with her. But we did not think of it as an end. Her loss and the hard work she put into our project won’t be in vain, we will continue to move forward and work on it until we reach our goal.
Public speaking is really not my thing. I always get nervous, and I even had a panic attack before, when I’m talking in front of everyone. So, I volunteered to make a PowerPoint presentation to be presented on the proposal, and I will continue to work behind them like a shadow. I don’t care if others think that I have no use or that my team took all the credit, because I like it that way. My team agreed, and they supported my decision.
During the proposal, presenting the proposal to our instructor was a pivotal moment in the journey. It required not only presenting the project details but also effectively communicating its value proposition. This involved highlighting the benefits and pros of our machine while preparing to address any potential concerns or objections about our product. We got good feedback, and we got compliments on our presentation. However, we are questioned about whether we can really build a prototype with the features we have mentioned. Yes, it‘s quite challenging, but we believe that through hard work and teamwork, we can do it.
Tumblr media
After the proposal, we are tasked with interviewing individuals for customer validation. In this task, we are going to ask individuals about their insights on our proposed project and ask them if they will use the machine when this project is implemented on campus.
Tumblr media
Embarking on a journey through the realm of interviewing someone is akin to stepping into their world—a voyage of discovery and understanding. The journey starts with the initial sparks of curiosity and the desire to know others insights about our project so we can gain knowledge and understand more about it. Each interviewee has different insights and opinions, which is really helpful for us. We learn to adapt to different personalities and communication styles, honing our listening skills and empathy along the way. The interviewee leaves a lasting impression on us, as they offer a unique perspective.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As we ask them about what they can say about our project, some give us positive insights. “As aspiring engineers, one thing that we are concerned about is sustainability. It is a good thing that you incorporate an eco-report. The concept is nice. And if this is implemented, surely I will use it because I will feel accountable for ensuring that I'm properly segregating my trash. Plus, being able to receive coupons or money as a reward is a nice incentive to recycle more. There is no need to go to junk shops or stores to sell your recyclables; at the same time, it helps you to be mindful of your trash.”
Tumblr media
There’s someone who commented negatively, but what he said makes sense. It is an advantage to us because, in that way, we learned about the shortcomings of our project. We discovered where we are going to improve.
Tumblr media
“A reverse vending machine in CMU would not be profitable due to the high costs of maintenance, electricity, and worker transportation. The vending machine alone cannot generate much profit as the bottles are sold to recyclers. To gain more profit, the business should consider creating a new product using the materials gained from the vending machine, which would be sold to the public. This would provide more profit than a vending machine that only collects bottles.”
As to his answer, we would like to add that our reverse vending machine is not just a machine that collects plastics. The collected plastics will surely be used to create another product like a plastic monoblock chair, and we could partner with the group whose product is a cement-plastic waste bench.
Based on their answers, we reflect on our shortcomings and will do better to improve and provide a good-quality product. Overall, the journey is a transformative experience that expands our horizons and deepens our understanding of our reverse vending machine project.

Value Proposition
Miss Keren Lacadin, the lead for Startup Ecosystem Development and Deputy Focal of the ICT Industry Development Bureau for DICT Region 10, delivered an engaging session during the lecture series, sharing her insights on value proposition. Her expertise and guidance are highly valuable in understanding and crafting strong value propositions for startups, making her an honorable speaker for the informative webinar.
Key to Startup Success
Startup success isn't just about making money; it's about doing good too. At places like Techstars and Founder Institute, there's a simple rule: "give first." It means helping others without expecting anything in return right away. This idea is all about giving something valuable to people and helping with important community problems. But for a startup to make it in the long run, it needs to find a balance. It should create value, make sure it can keep going, and do good things for society. This means combining creative ideas, good business sense, and a real passion for making the world better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Value Proposition is the value promise you deliver to your customers, both before and after they make a purchase. It's the essence of why your startup matters, and it goes way beyond mere marketing slogans or bland descriptions.
Crafting a Winning Value Proposition
According to Miss Keren, there are four steps to follow in creating a wining value proposition. This includes:
1. Research Your Audience: Start by truly understanding your target market. Get to know their problems, motivations, and how they like to communicate. Speak their language and address their issues effectively.
2. Create an Ideal Buyer Persona: Develop detailed customer profiles based on qualitative data. This helps you understand your audience better and create solutions tailored to them.
3. Research Your Competitors: Analyze up to fifteen competitors to identify differences and areas for improvement. This analysis can inspire innovation.
4. Determine the Primary Benefit: Find that one key factor that sets your product apart and provides significant value to your customers. This unique benefit is what will make your offering stand out. A strong value proposition is a key to startup success.
The Components of Strong Value Differentiation
Three essential components are at the core of strong value differentiation:
Valuable. Ensure your value proposition addresses something your target customers genuinely need and value.
Differentiated. Highlight what sets your product or service apart from competitors, creating a unique selling point.
Substantiated. Back up your value proposition with concrete evidence and proof, building trust and credibility with your customers.
These components are the keys to unlocking doors and keeps your business forward.
Templates to Craft a Compelling Value Proposition
These templates are valuable tools to help you create a compelling value proposition and lead the way in generating success, particularly in terms of lead generation.
Needs and Wants: Which focuses on addressing your customers needs and wants. Ensure your value proposition is the best option for them, and back it up with trust and believability.
Product Identification: List your products and services, emphasizing their technical, business, and personal values.
Ten-Point Value Proposition: Consider ten key points, including the time frame, internal and external communication, operationalization within your business, measurement of effectiveness, customer experience, pricing, and differentiation.
Tumblr media
The Value Proposition Canvas and Its Crucial Role
The value proposition canvas is a vital tool for shaping your business model. It helps identify the key elements of your value proposition for your target customer segments. It consists of two parts: the customer profile and the value map.
Customer Profile:
Customer Jobs: These are the tasks your customers are trying to perform – functional, social, and emotional. Understand their everyday challenges.
Pains: Dive into the negative experiences, emotions, and risks that customers face when trying to get their jobs done. Get a grip on their problems and challenges.
Gains: Explore the benefits, experiences, and results that your customers expect or desire from a product or service. Understand what your customers are looking to achieve.
Value Map:
Products and Services: List the specific products or services you offer. Distinguish between essential features and nice-to-haves.
Gain Creators:* Explain how your products or services create customer gains. What benefits do they provide, whether it's saving time, efficient communication, or easy learning?
Pain Relievers:* Describe how your products or services address customer pains, negative emotions, or undesired costs. Focus on eliminating customer problems and making their lives easier.
The goal is to create a perfect fit between the problems your customers face and the solutions you provide. This fit ensures that your startup offers services that are both beneficial and essential for your target audience.
How to Write a Unique Value Proposition
Crafting a Unique Value Proposition
Gather Voice of Customer Copy: Collect feedback from your target audience to understand how they perceive your product. Avoid making assumptions and rely on real customer insights.
Emphasize Clarity Before Creativityt: When creating your value proposition, prioritize clarity over creativity. Keep the message straightforward, avoiding unnecessary jargon or wordiness.
Focus on Benefits, Not Hype: Concentrate on highlighting the actual benefits of your product or service rather than using excessive hype. Clear value is more appealing than extravagant claims.
To wrap it up, a strong value proposition is like the heart of your startup's success. It's the special promise you give to your customers, showing them why you're awesome, and how your business can do really well. So, use these tips, start creating your value proposition, and get your startup on the path to success.
Don't forget, having a great value proposition can make a big difference for your startup, especially when there's lots of competition. Dive in, explore, and make a promise to your customers that makes your startup stand out. The journey to success starts with a clear and unique promise to your customers.

QUICK SIP WATER 💦
This is our journey while creating our product. But before that, let me introduce to you our first product. We conducted interviews with some tricycle and motorcycle drivers (known as “rela” and “habal-habal” drivers), asking them about their challenges and problems. They mentioned that a common problem they face is not having enough change when students pay their fares. This inspired us to develop a solution called “EasyPay,” which is a mobile application that allows customers to make payments easily when drivers don’t have change. Unfortunately, We have not succeeded because our intervention is not visible. As a result, we pivoted and created “Quick Sip Water,” which became our final product.
Tumblr media
Now, let me introduce our final product, Quick Sip water. While developing this product, we conducted interviews with students. Some of the issues they faced included problems with the printing machine, the distance to the market, and concerns about water safety. We decided to address the water safety issue after hearing about past incidents in our department. To solve this problem, we invented the WaterVendo. We designed the vending machine interface to be user-friendly, ensuring that students could easily purchase water by simply inserting their coin into the machine. The cup would then drop automatically, and water would flow. We also formed a partnership with a classmate who has a business in water supply, and she will become our product’s supplier.
We decided to place our WaterVendo in each department. Before doing so, we asked some students for their reactions to our product. We observed that our interviewees liked the idea of having a WaterVendo for safe drinking water on the university premises, and some of them even requested the inclusion of hot and cold water options in the machine. They mentioned that it’s beneficial for students to stay hydrated as it not only enhances their physical health but also contributes to their overall well-being. Proper hydration is known to improve focus and cognitive abilities, which can lead to better academic performance. Additionally, staying well-hydrated is essential for maintaining energy levels and can positively impact students’ daily activities.
As future physical education educators, we see the significance of these elements in our students’ lives. Our WaterVendo not only addresses the issue of water safety but also promotes the well-being and academic success of our fellow students, ensuring that they have easy access to refreshing and clean water throughout the day.

DES 302 - Week 2
This week went a lot better than the first! It was nice starting this week and not feeling completely confused about what work I had to do. I think the to-do lists are going to be a great task for keeping me on track for the rest of this semester. They work great for laying out what needs to be done so that I can see what I need to do and slowly chip away at it.
This week started off with me deciding to change the layout of my Miro board completely.  I didn’t like the messy look and felt it would get confusing when more work was added to it. Cleaning it up and finalising my timeline, I decided to change my methodology from the double diamond. I made this change as I was planning my assignment. I thought that the double diamond would cut my iteration short. I have decided I am going to use the triple diamond. I need those extra steps to come up with the best outcome. I like how it has the step of making your prototype, getting feedback, reflecting and making it again. I also think I need that extra step of user feedback, as it will help enrich my outcome. Alternatively, I think one of the weaknesses of this methodology is that because there are more steps, I won’t be able to spend as much time on them. I think I have to be smarter with the time I spend at each step so I don’t get caught up.
One of the main things I need to complete for the week is my Plan A, B and C. I was starting to feel behind as I had no idea what I wanted to make for this assignment. I have done lengthy brainstorms, and I have finally come up with my plan A, B and C. My plan A aims to create a comprehensive dyslexia awareness campaign focusing on individuals who receive a late diagnosis of dyslexia. These will include posters, informative pamphlets, and social media ads to reach a wider audience. The campaign will feature an interactive booklet, encouraging self-reflection and answering personal questions. My plan B and C are more straightforward than this and are mainly focused on the booklet.
I feel a lot better going into next week as I now have a clearer idea of my goals for this capstone assignment. I am ready to do more refined precedent research to see what works and what doesn’t. I also want to start some rapid prototyping, as it will be great to visualise what’s to come.

Second Journal: Knowledge is up!
Hello, this is my second journal and I just wanted to share my realizations and what are the improvements we made from the past.
During our first interview, we felt nervous and anxious while conducting it. Making it difficult for us to speak confidently and clearly, and sometimes making it hard for us to remember what we want to ask. Also, the lack of preparation makes it hard for us to follow up on interesting points made by the interviewee.
However, we became more confident and prepared during our second interview. The two significant strategies we made that improved our way of interviewing are preparation, and active listening. By preparing in advance, we felt more confident and equipped to handle unexpected challenges during the interview. Paying close attention to what the interviewee is saying, asking follow-up questions, and summarizing what we have heard to ensure that we have understood the interviewee's perspective, helps us get the information we need.
We empathize for those who procrastinates a lot and usually cram their tasks such as
Students
Teachers
Call-center agents
Event organizers
and many more that works under pressure. Additionally, we also thought of those who have tolerable mental health concerns.
If you are aiming to be productive, then make SchedAid your partner.
download SchedAid to your device from our website www.roverregiment.com
Tumblr media
From our interview, 9 out of 10 have seen their friends having trouble with time management, and that they themselves have also experienced these challenges. They have also observed that there are many people around who procrastinate and cram, those who tend to prioritize other things over the task at hand, and those who tries to "cram" all they need to do in a short period of time. And lastly, some of our interviewees have said that they know some existing applications where you can manage schedules, but 10 out of 10 have agreed that they have not seen any application that has a multi-functionality to address time management and mental health concerns.
Many students tend to get late from their classes because they lack time management. They feel bad or anxious whenever they enter the room very late. After sharing our concept idea to our interviewee, they gave various opinions about managing their task in their devices. They said that using a device is very convenient because they can easily access their schedule from anywhere and at any time, making it easier to plan their day and stay on track. Organized, using their device can help them keep their appointments and deadlines organized and in one place. And lastly, it could potentially help them boost their productivity, because with their device they can prioritize their tasks and stay focused on what's important, which can help them be more productive and efficient.
However, it's important to remember that while devices can be helpful, they can also be a source of distraction and can sometimes contribute to feelings of overwhelm or burnout. It's important to use devices mindfully, taking breaks when needed, and finding a balance between work and personal time.
According to them, they either bring their Certificate of Registration (COR) every time to check their schedule or a saved picture of their schedule on their phones. While some participants said that they set an alarm for every scheduled subject every day. Also, few interviewees confirmed that they use third-party applications for their schedules, others use the clock application on their device to get alarmed on time. There are many ways people do when they are under-pressure, 4 out of 10 of our participants thrive under pressure and become more productive as a result. On the other hand, they became irritable, mood-swings, procrastinate, increased their stress and anxiety, and difficulty concentrating. Thus, it is important to recognize the signs of pressure and to take steps to manage it in a healthy and productive way.
Many have said that they were influenced by their friends that are productive and good at managing their time and schedule. The students felt like they are irresponsible for being a procrastinator and crammer while their friends are doing good and well in managing both their academics, time and schedules. It inspired them to do the same because they were told that procrastination is not good not only in their academic performance but also in their mental state due to pressure and stress, they might get from rushing their time and schedule, works, and daily activities. Also, their friends mentioned that they use a third-party application where they can organize and plan their tasks and schedule every day. In addition, other friends suggested that they should spend less time on not so important things such as social media and online games, instead of spending more time on their goals especially in their academics.
People generally feel anxious, stressed, embarrassed, and guilty when they get late or miss an appointment. People tend to value punctuality and reliability, and they expect others to respect their time and commitments. Therefore, being late or missing an appointment can be a source of discomfort and social pressure, which can affect one's emotional and mental well-being. On the other hand, Poor habits can contribute to negative feelings by creating a sense of guilt, shame, and regret. We obtained various answers from our interview on the strategies they used to address these challenges such as, creating a routine, setting clear goals, practicing mindfulness, and tracking progress. With these, they can effectively avoid poor habits and develop healthier habits that contribute to their well-being.
If people are given a chance to go back in time, they tend to correct their mistakes by changing their choices and actions. People, specifically students, are spending time on other things such as work, games, social media, etc. rather than managing or balancing their time and mental health. In addition, it leads to stress and pressure which will later cause a bigger problem such as sickness or mental illness. When these problems occur in their present time and people could go back in time and give themselves advice, people would want to prioritize self-care, setting realistic goals, establish healthy habits, taking a break and recharge, and also to practice time-management. Overall, these things can help individuals improve their well-being and avoid the consequences of poor time management and mental health issues.
After learning many things from the interview, we made changes and many improvements in our concept idea. Therefore, we integrate this application to effectively help you become more productive and at the same time address your mental health concerns.

blog #2: the climate crisis network
Climate Change has been a topic of conversation in both personal and societal conversations for as far as I could remember. It’s quite ironic really: how people only mention it when it is absolutely necessary or if they know that opening the topic up would benefit them. In short, Performative Activism. I despise it when people talk about things just because it would make them look good when in reality, the ones who actually care are given the least appreciation.
In comes this topic, The Climate Crisis Network. The Concept Map we were able to form wasn’t as extensive as we would like it to be but looking at it now, it’s already perfect the way it is. How we were able to connect the main topics with the additional information and the subtopics all connect well and is simple enough for our viewers to understand.
Tumblr media
To better digest the diagram we provided, I will briefly explain how the concepts relate to each other.
Before we start, it’s fair to take note of the following:
Circles - Main Topics, Boxes - Addtl. Info & Subtopics, Arrows - relationship of the variables to one another and Lines - connect the information and concepts from the main topics
The main topic, Climate Change, has an arrow connecting it to humans as it is known that this phenomena affects humans. From the Humans circle, the related concepts that we connected it to is when humans put pressure on nature, it is also us that ends up suffering more. From that part, the box connects back to Climate Change because the suffering being talked about is Climate Change itself. Going back to the humans circle, there is now an arrow connecting that to illnesses and wildlife, related main topics as when wildlife interacts with humans they could get illnesses. However, wildlife only interacts with humans because there is a loss of habitat. Major reasons of habitat loss are Deforestation, Urbanization, and Air Travel. With Urbanization and Air Travel being two of the factors that increases the risk of infectious diseases, it all relates back to humans who need to find solutions by acting immediately so that we are able to solve Climate Change.

To end this post, I wanted to remind everyone to be kind to our climate and to our world in general. It isn’t always that we’ll have the Earth take all the harsh things we are doing to it. Be kind to the world and in return, it will be kind to you.

The state of my mental health
People has a different struggle in life, almost everyday, there's a lot of people commiting suicide. There are strong people who keep fighting to whatever the problem is and there are weak who can't handle everything the world can throw at them so which type of person are you? Your mental health matter, it is one of our foundation to keep going in life, to keep on striving for what we believed in and it serves as one of the pillars on which we build our lives and the pursuit of our goals. However, we shouldn't invalidate everyone's feeling and this should be address properly.

Living on earth for about 21 years now, I encounter a lot of breakdowns, anxiety and depression specially now that I am an adult. Until now, I have my anxiety where I am anxious about everything particularly, the future. I am afraid of failure and I am anxious on what the future holds. I keep thinking those "what if's" in my mind and these makes me crazy. According to pshychology that when you overthink a lot before you sleep, you might feel tired when you woke up because it's like that your brain is awake while you are asleep. It is not a joke to have this kind of situation, these might be very easy to some but we have different levels of taking things personally.

On the other hand, I am thankful that I have my family and friends to be with me throughout my journey. It is indeed good to know how many of them you can trust the most. Let us not stigmatize mental Illnesses because not everyone will get the assistance they require. Only 40% of adults and 50% of kids, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, receive the necessary medical care. Even though mental illness is widespread and may impact anybody, it still carries a lot of stigma.

The stigma makes people reluctant to seek treatment and ashamed of doing so. Although there has been significant progress in the acceptance and understanding of mental diseases, I believe more can and should still be done. The most crucial thing somebody can do for oneself is to ask for help. But regrettably, the stigma prevents many from seeking assistance. The presence of a mental illness should not be humiliated or treated differently. More people will have the guts to seek help and improve their lives when mental illness is addressed on par with other ailments.
