What were the first names of the characters played by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly in 'Byker Grove'?

'Byker Grove' is a British television show which aired from 1989 to 2006. The show was aimed at older teenagers and young adults and tackled serious and sometimes controversial storylines, such as the first gay kiss on children’s television. Set in a youth club in the Byker district of Newcastle Upon Tyne, the show featured many characters, including PJ Jenkins and Duncan Sperring, played by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

The show launched the careers of McPartlin and Donnelly, who went on to become the iconic British television presenting duo 'Ant & Dec'. Due to the pair's popularity in 'Byker Grove', they were inspired to form the pop duo PJ & Duncan in 1993, releasing singles such as 'Let's Get Ready to Rhumble' and 'Tonight I'm Free'.

As television presenters, the duo currently host 'Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway', 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!', and 'Britain's Got Talent'. On 28th January 2020, the duo were awarded the Guinness World Record for "the most National Television Awards won consecutively for Best Presenter". They have won every year since 2001.

Britain Got Talent 2023 Audition

The latest series of BGT will begin on TV later this year with Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden all returning as Britain's Got Talent judges for the 15th series.Hosted by Ant & Dec, the new series is the first since 2020 after last year's planned run was cancelled due to the pandemic.

When does Britain's Got Talent 2022 start on TV?

It's been confirmed the series will start in April on ITV with filming auditions taking place earlier this year.ITV has yet to officially confirm the exact BGT 2022 start date but based on past years we can likely expect it to begin from 16 April following the end of Saturday Night Takeaway. BGT usually airs Saturday nights throughout the Spring until a week of live semi-finals around the last week of May.
