one thing bugging me about bajoran religion and world building is its implied worshipping the Pagh Wraiths isn't like, a new thing in Bajoran culture (obviously they were originally part of the Prophets, but they seen to have retained worship after that) and they're a despised religion, but the way that operates irl is more complex than how DS9 allows it by very literally making the Pagh Wraiths villains? I always hate when fantasy and sci-fi media does this "evil god with evil worshippers" thing because of this

Obviously you can immediately see how the 'evil' god and followers are not actually evil here #Also it's interesting how the Pagh Wraiths seem more linear than the Prophets #The way they speak and engage with people comes off as more human-like #Could be that they got kicked out over something related to that- the prophets got annoyed with Sisko for asking them to meddle too much #And the line used by their worshippers was abt how the prophets allowed the occupation iirc... hmmm #Maybe they got kicked out for wanting to meddle in linear affairs too much
