man another thing that's been very nice about having moved out of my dad's house is that... i am under no obligation to convey anything to anyone <3 i don't have to tell my parents about my doctor appointments, i don't have to tell people my intentions, i don't have to defend making purchases or arranging my life in a way that makes things easier or more pleasant because people don't even have to know about these things in the first place.
it's really fucking nice.
#experienced the unfortunate combination of 'pathological anti-liar' and 'being a fucking doormat by nature or whatever'#and 'controlling father that has to know everything and will directly curtail any attempts at privacy with guilt and authority'#that i sometimes compulsively try to make someone understand things about me even when it the direct outcome of such is unpleasant#here's to breaking these habits lads#discovering that i can do things and have preferences without going to protestant hell or even worse dealing with my dad#i can even pay my Idiot Tax without the external application of guilt#that is payments or late fees or forgetting to return something that doesn't fit and et cetera#that sometimes come up on account of being a fucking mess LMAO and would be less of a thing if i achieved a level of organization#that i simply will not realistically reach at this juncture but am generally working on getting myself in order for#i just make sure i routinely set aside a lil money for potential mistakes and i deal with them as they come#without the song and dance of being actively and repeatedly scolded as an adult for regular person mistakes#prattling about the self#edit to note that yeah i know there are times when i should convey things to people but you know what i mean

I feel guilty about my laziness, but I also know I'm very privileged to have saved up enough money to not need a job right now. I know a lot of people envy my current situation. And as much as I can't stand my mom and a lot of things about this house (moldy bathrooms, a literally never clean or clear kitchen, hoarding), $300 a month at 23 years old is also very enviable. I'm just starting to get restless. I know I don't need to be productive to be valuable, but I feel lazy nonetheless. Also I haven't been moving my body very much and I feel guilty about that. Not just guilty, but I've also been feeling the effects of it. I'm achy and tired and I know I would feel better if I did more exercise, but it's so cold and snowy out that I don't want to move around.
All will be well soon enough. And like I said last night, mentally I am in a way better place than I was when I was younger. I have optimism
#i also am eyeing my bank account numbers going down with anxiety#but I'll be getting my tax return soon#and i will still be very fortunate in the literal sense of the term even if my money goes down quite a bit more#for someone my age anyways#also I've tried helping make the house more livable but she reacts poorly to change

my usaa savings account exists essentially to pay off my student loan payment. which gets larger and larger. and that’s not even the one that’s about to start payments this fall. yippee

With potential fines of tens of thousands of dollars#PER year PER form that you don't fill out?#Fun fact: this also applies in many many cases if you were born abroad to a US parent and have never even been to the US!!!#Fun fact: the US government doesn't tell you this! There are thousands of people all over the world#who are considered tax evaders by the US and stand to be immediately arrested or fined the minute they set foot on US soil!!!#Most of this is hardly ever enforced ofc bc the IRS simply doesn't have the manpower to do so#but it's a handy little sword of Damocles hanging over the head of every US citizen all over the world#so that if anyone ever steps out of line - whoopsieee! looks like you haven't been filing your FBARs huh?#Would be a pity if you were extradited and arrested for tax evasion :)#One more fun fact: apart from the US the only other country to require lifelong taxation and tax filing from its citizens abroad is Eritrea#a totalitarian dictatorship with one of the worst human rights records in the world#But thank god the America is such a paragon of freedom and democracy <3 🙃🙃🙃
