HOME PART 4 TEASER [ZUKO X READER]

PART 1 | PART 2 | PART 3

Y/N was avoiding Zuko.

She had been ever since they’d left– more accurately, escaped the Fire Sage Temple, and Zuko couldn’t help but wonder why. Especially since they needed to have a lot of conversations seeing as so much had happened, she’d been trapped inside the room alongside the Avatar and failed to capture him. Zuko couldn’t help but wonder if he should attribute that to how... odd she had been acting. After all, Y/N had nearly killed them both, by accident of course, on the Komodo Rhino. Something had distracted her, he just didn’t know what.

It horrified him if he was honest.

He’d never seen Y/N so shaken, the look in her eyes in those moments concerned him. Zuko would never admit it, but he was worried. When she was trapped with the Avatar alone, this feeling only worsened, the dread and panic filling his chest as he anxiously awaited for the doors to reopen. And even when they did, Y/N said nothing of what had occurred in the room.

This just worried him further.

Y/N had a feeling that she was the reason Zuko had elected to spar with Lieutenant jee, likely to take out his anger in the only way he knew how, violently. He’d obviously noticed her successful attempts at avoiding him, and he had unsuccessfully attempted to corner her on the ship several times in the past few days, much to her dismay. But Y/N wasn’t sure what she would say if they did finally have a conversation, would she lie? Could she even tell the truth if she wanted to?

Shaking these thoughts from her mind, Y/N brought her attention back to Zuko, who dodged a blast of fire from the Lieutenant, only to send an even harsher blast back at the man. Y/N couldn’t help but grimace as she watched the interaction, brows furrowing as she turned to look at Iroh, who had a pensive look on his face.

Now, Iroh had noticed the tension between the pair when he had returned from capture, but he’d written it off as the same tension he’d seen between them for what felt like years. But looking at them now, it became clear that this was something different, Zuko was... upset, and Y/N was being rather non-confrontational.

This was nothing new he supposed, but a cause for concern nonetheless. So, Iroh figured, why not get involved? Just a tad.

“What the hell?” Zuko grumbled as the ship shifted into another direction.

Y/N pushed herself off the railing, brows drawing together in confusion as she watched the ship change course, and moving closer towards Zuko. If this was an ambush, or even worse, a revolt from the crew, someone would need to ensure his safety.

“Just a small change of course, nephew. I lost my White Lotus tile, from my Pai Sho game, so I’ll be needing one from the nearby port.”

Zuko frowned, moving to confront his uncle, only for Y/N to come between the pair, bringing her hand to Zuko’s chest to halt his movements. The boy paused, eyes coming to her face in shock, this was the first time she had interacted with him in days.

Iroh was smirking, even as Zuko realized the way his harsh facade disappeared and glared at him, “why do you need a stupid game piece?” A small huff of fire left his mouth, and Zuko grabbed the hand Y/N had placed on his chest, pulling her away.

Y/N made an attempt to rip her hand from Zuko’s grasp, only for his grip to tighten around it as she spoke, “Zuko what are you doing?”

“You and I need to have a talk.”

She really should’ve seen this coming. Whenever ports are involved, bad things happened. Last time, Y/N had been held at knife point, and though her current situation wasn’t necessarily a good comparison well... It still sucked, because she did not have a plan, or a decent excuse.

Hopefully the raccoon excuse would work again.

A/N: i really need to make a masterlist for this um,, it should be out eventually haha also i know what you are thinking, canela what are you doing posting a teaser so soon after you posted part 3? and the answer is I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE FORTUNE TELLER SCENE JKASHDJKASHD <3 and ik teasers might seem pointless but they serve as a way to motivate me so im sorry if you don’t like them 🥺
