gonna start claiming that newsies (1992) is unironically good actually.
#this is not quite true i do want you all to continue trusting my media recommendations--#frankly i'm at the point where i have no idea if it's actually good or if i just love it. i cannot evaluate objectively.#i'm sparing you the full essay i just wrote in the tags about how the musical doesn't quite Get davey or what makes him and jack Work#AND the separate essay about how the biggest difference btw the movie and the musical is that in the movie they really are *kids*......#AND the post that i almost started writing last night at 1:30 am about how so much of this movie is about the power of Words and how that#works with the songs but how ALSO a lot of it is about Bodies and Physicality and how that works with the *dance*--#i don't know WHAT is up with me this week. sometimes the coping mechanism chooses you i GUESS#women will out of nowhere just absolutely fixate on a 30 year old movie that bombed in the box offices--#but i WILL stand by that everyone who watched only the musical and enjoyed it should really watch the movie#i know it's apples and oranges to compare mediums but the movie is just *better*....
