GLIMMER’S WINGS FAQ.
WHAT DO GLIMMER’S WINGS LOOK LIKE ?      before glimmer’s wings are fully developed,   they look like this.        after glimmer connects with the moonstone and becomes queen,   her wings fully develop and  look  like  this*.         .  (*edit credit to the wonderfully talented @ / bravestshera crew.).
WHEN DOES GLIMMER GET HER WINGS ?        as seen first in   shadows of mystacor  (s1, ep 7),    glimmer has  tiny pink wings  on her back.        these wings are as small as they are because glimmer  (a half angelic being on her mother’s side)   hasn’t yet connected fully with the moonstone   (she splits the power with angella).         .  once glimmer connects with the moonstone to finish the quest of queens ritual in     the coronation  (s4, ep 1),     she is brought into the moonstone’s light and   receives her wings.    canonically,  we never see them again.     in my canon,  however,  we don’t fucking listen to that bc she deserves wings.
HOW DO GLIMMER’S WINGS WORK ?        glimmer has wings because she is a half angelic being,   but she is able to use her wings because of her connection to the moonstone.         unlike her mother,   glimmer is able to channel her wings,  folding them magically in and out to make them visible  /  invisible as she pleases.         however,  this power,  along with all of her other wing related powers,  is unable to be used if she is out of contact with the moonstone   (so,  for instance,  she can’t channel her wings at all while she’s in space during season 5.).           glimmer also has to  learn to fly  after receiving her wings just as she has to learn how to use the rest of her powers    -    and spends seasons 4, 5, and beyond learning how to do so expertly.
WHEN DOES GLIMMER USE HER WINGS ?        for the most part,  glimmer actually likes to keep her wings hidden.         she dons them like you would don jewelry or armor,   only bringing them out for the most part when she has a formal event to attend    or    when she needs to use them in battle.           they make her slightly self conscious,   so if she brings them out in front of you,  it means you’re special!              IN MY CANON,   glimmer uses her wings in situations like:   when she’s training with her staff before shadow weaver finds her  (s4, ep 3: pulse),    when adora and bow flee on mara’s ship  -  to fly as far as she can into the sky to try and catch them before sinking back to the ground  (s4, ep 10: fractures),   and   when she throws her cape off in the erelandian shop, revealing herself as queen  (s5, ep 9: an ill wind).

real quick before I get into season 6
So this is my second time watching Season 6 and I’m p. excited.  This last week or so I’ve been dredging up bits and pieces, but most of it is a blur.  It seems the memories that lasted this whole year were mostly of the huge armored truck and the nonbinary character who works at *spoilers*’s tech startup.
I’m curious to see if the second time through it’ll settle in like it belongs.  I remember Season 5 really didn’t make any sense to me until I saw it again.
But really I’m just excited that in 11 hours I can watch the new stuff?!
But first, before I forget, here’s my last thoughts on Season 5.
So remember how I was surprised at Season 1′s structure, that it folded up nicely down the middle with some pretty tidy symmetry?
None of the other seasons do that.
Instead, I remember particularly strongly how jarring the end of the Ghost Rider arc was in the middle of Season 4.  And then again when the (what I’m calling) Kasius arc also wrapped up mid-season.
I’m not sure when I read about it, but it probably was circa Ghost Rider, that they’d intentionally decided on what I’m pretty sure they called “pods” of episodes, these seasons-within-a-season sort of narratives.
Season 2 sort of kicks it off, what with the race to Terragenesis taking eps 1-10 and the Afterlife/splinter SHIELD stories filling 11-22.  Then Season 3 has the monolith/Maveth mystery to start, followed by Hive & the Inhumans for the second half.  S4 is super poddy, obviously branded as Ghost Rider/Agents of Hydra, and S5 also splits neatly into future!Lighthouse and present day!Lighthouse.
Two points to make on this:
Kasius is such a rockstar villain that I feel really bad for Hale/Ruby/Talbot.  They’re so apples and oranges but having the highlight come first allows for unfavorable comparisons to be made.  It’s like asking any well-to-do Kree to compare Xandarian snail to oops all berries.
Good thing they’d had all this practice writing complete stories in 12 eps, since I’m hoping Season 6 (and obvs Season 7) will still feel as fully formed as their longer antecedents.
Anyway, that first point is my major point for S5.
S3 already feels like the second half of S2, and its internal halves are the most similar to each other as any of the other “pods,” so it’s not like people have a reason to go around saying “I liked the first half of the season waaay better than the second.”
(although I might.  I might say that, actually.  but not because the halves were branded separately from one another)
And S4, though the two halves are barely identifiable as coming from the same show much less the same season, they’re both good.  Robbie Reyes is perfect.  The effort to incorporate new MCU topics/aesthetic from Doctor Strange is great.  Robots who just want to be a real girl is my JAM.  All the Framework cameos really make my day!  And then Robbie Reyes comes back all deus ex machina (ironic) and saves the day, and
it makes sense that he does because the function and nature of the Darkhold was well established in part 1 and
it’s GREAT that he does because he’s perfect and we miss him.
Then here comes S5.  I really really respect so much about the creative decisions that took the story where it went (ie, outside Papa MCU’s sphere of interference), and getting to reuse the same set in a different context while minimizing “on-location” shoots is just technical and financial genius, okay.
But there’s so much about the first half, in the future, that compels me waaaaaaay more than the gritty anger of the second half.
Kasius, WOW what a villain.  Dominic Rains, everyone.  I have nothing unkind to say about the performance, the character, anything.  Impeccable.  Spectacular.  Perfection.
The mystery of the season opener!  We had the tag scene where Coulson’s “in space” and plenty of time to ruminate on the how and why, especially with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 coming out right as S4 ended and Thor: Ragnarok literally sizzling in the theaters at the same time as this season started.  They answer the question by the end of the episode, but not before several characters come up with and pursue several different theories, and that’s fun.
What a way to capitalize on the Inhuman storyline your show’s been about for years now, without forcing Papa MCU to contend with all this good work you’ve been doing.  Just go somewhere he can’t reach you (the future), and then un-write all of it anyway.  V. tidy.  Extra style points will be awarded.
LEITMOTIFS.  If y’all’ve seen BSG, then you know Bear McCreary is a master of the art.  But this season has so many good themes, my friends.  The Daisy/Quake theme that’s been knocking around for a season is here in full force, and Sinara’s is the best bad guy theme you could have wanted, and dearest sweetest Flint has the best great guy theme you ever heard.
Just, while we’re here.  Sinara.  She says nothing for episodes (it feels like, I wasn’t counting) and her first line is a scornfully growled “compassion.”  Give it up for Florence Faivre !!!  She hardly has any lines but you always know exactly what she’s thinking and what she’s about.  Sinara and Kasius have the richest on-screen chemistry of anybody on any show from any era fight me on this I dare you.
Mack’s coming down from his second life in the Framework, and that suuuuucks that these folks never have a moment to rest before barreling into their next story.  But he gets to be a father to Flint!  And Yo-Yo gets to be a mother!!!  UGH why couldn’t they have brought Flint instead of Deke lololol oh well.
I think I know another reason why Lincoln seems overhyped to me.  That other Inhuman, Ben I think his name is?  He’s in like two episodes, serves a narrative purpose, and is disposed.  I know Lincoln’s in like 18 times as many episodes but they have the same exact overall impact on my brain-hole.  Imagine if it was Ben that came back with them instead of Deke.  That’s how I feel about Lincoln.  Like, how did this obviously disposable character make it this far?
Then you have Deke.  You love to hate him.  He’s a very well-fashioned character who is flawless in making you feel the way the showrunners want you to feel.  That’s the kind of character that gets killed off twice and still comes back, and it doesn’t surprise you.
So, Enoch.  Enoch is everyone’s favorite character, right?  Right.  Give me genderless robots with a soft spot for humanity ANY DAY.  PLEASE where are they I need them.  (I’m un-repressing memories of S6 and I feel like somehow I should be careful what I wish for)  Man I remember with 1000% clarity the absolute glee I felt sitting down for the opening montage of S5 the first time, how ballsy weird it was, just watching this freaky bald alien of a man go swimming with some fun electro pop number playing in the background.  100/10 please make more television like this
More monoliths!!  The time one is so pretty!
(remember when there were more monoliths and no one knew where they came from or what they did but then it didn’t matter because they got instantly exploded?)
The low-key obvious answers to the season’s questions, what with the Inhumans running all over the shop, Quake there to tear everything down and Flint there to put the pieces back together I’m not crying you’re crying
Oh man, and Simmons getting to mentor not one but two Inhuman youths to be confident and trust in themselves and their powers.  What a ways from the fear-panic response to Daisy when she turned.
Also, yeah, it has to be said, this show’s blatant “you’re different and that’s okay” agenda sits very well with me.  Agents of SHIELD says LGBTQ+ rights!
So anyway, part 2 falls a little flat for me because its strength is its themes, but I’m not really compelled by the stakes and definitely not by the villains and not really even by the intra-team drama.
Obviously S2 touched on parenthood, but it was pretty specific.  S5 digs in and brings us a lot more on the topic.
Kasius desperately desires his father’s approval but very deeply despises the methods and the people who earn it.
Hale was indoctrinated by Hydra and was very earnest in wanting to uphold the values of the organization, until the organization (and Whitehall) shared with her their narrow appreciation of the gift of her loyalty.  Even then, she struggles to make sense of this loyalty, only realizing too late that being a good Hydra pawn and a good parent are categorically mutually exclusive.
Ruby, obviously, is like a mini-Kasius, the brave-faced rebel who wears her mother’s disappointment on her sleeve like a badge of honor to pretend that it isn’t crippling her.
The Von Strucker kid, boy is he messed up (and his Hydra dad had something to do with it)
((echos of Ward are still heard even this far after his demise, and we know what his father figures were like))
Poor Talbot, got some brain damage and some Hydra conditioning on top of that, cracked that noggin wide open.  He just wanted to do good by his family.  Just wanted his son to know he loves him.
Polly and Robin.  The daughter who needs constant special care because she’s stuck inside her own mind and the mother who’s been through hell and back and still manages to do her best.  Even when she knows she won’t always be there for her daughter.  Even when she knows she’ll be replaced.
May getting a glimpse at the life she and Andrew once talked about.  Getting a chance to do right by that little girl.
Mack recovering from getting that same glimpse, from the echoing memories of a life time spent with his greatest regret erased.  Being roped into being a thug and threatening that dad without knowing the meaning behind his threat -- being told that people like him don’t deserve the privilege of parenthood.  But then getting to know Flint, and having Yo-Yo at his side while they fast track this kid through all the things he’s gonna need to know in order to be the Big Damn Hero the world needs him to be.
The timey-wimey promise that FitzSimmons will one day be parents to a brilliant daughter who will unfortunately give birth to a Deke.
Coulson and Daisy.  Another parent placing enormous expectations on his daughter, desperate that she be ready for his responsibilities because his time is running out.  A daughter who mishandles these expectations and refuses to stop fighting a losing battle, not because she’s not ready to step up, but because she doesn’t want to face the fact that she’s losing the man who raised her.
Anyway, aside from all this good Theme work, part 2 wades perfunctorily through musty remnants of the previous season, from The Doctor to The Russian.  Which makes sense, because that season ended in a way that left so many loose threads -- but then this season comes along and summarily ties them up, all cute little bows, the lot of them.  Dusts its hands.  Nothing to see here.  Move along now.  Time’s up.

Activity will be mainly SSB and CW, using two stations. Pilot station is Alfio/IT9EJW. QSL via IT9YRE - OQRS preferred . For more details and updates, see: http://www.it9yre.it/3g1dx PLEASE NOTE: It is very hard and dangerous to land on the Rock so please absolutely do not dupe the QSO ! ! ! Restructuring of AS-117/AS-206. On the IOTA Web page (iota-world.org), Roger, G3KMA, on July 30th, posted the following: Islands previously listed as qualifying for AS-117 that now fall within the co-ordinates box of the new group AS-206, Honshu’s Coastal Islands East, have now been transferred and are listed appropriately both in the application database scroll-down list and in the IOTA Directory online. Following several activations from AS-206 in the last few weeks with most already accepted for credit, the group number is now confirmed. Record-holders with credits for AS-117 that commence with prefixes JA0, 1, 2 and 7, will have their credits reviewed for transfer to AS-206. All chasers who logged into the IOTA system at least once during the last two years will be automatically informed by a credit re-allocation. This will alert them to the need to find a replacement card or QSO match for AS-117 with a prefix JA3, 4 or 9 to regain credit. Other record-holders for whom Management no longer retains an email address will have any necessary transfer made automatically. The intention is to transfer all credits to the correct IOTA group within a few weeks. As this is quite a big job, patience is requested. PLEASE NOTE: Since the Webmasters of the new (www.iota-world.org) have decided NOT to post or dedicate a Web page to announce upcoming IOTA operations, PLEASE send your IOTA operations information to the OPDX, and we will post it here in an upcoming bulletin...... KH4, MIDWAY ISLAND. Ron, KH6DV, from Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, announced on July 31st, that a KH6VV/KH4 DXpedition will take place during the second half of February 2020. He states on QRZ.com, "Midway Atoll is #14 on the ClubLog most wanted list and has not been active for some time. The air- craft used for the logistics flights has been downsized and visitors are no longer allowed to fly to the island. Operators interested in joining the expedition should be prepared to undertake a 6.75 day ocean voyage. The vessel DXpedition veteran the 'A/S Machias' can be seen on my KH6DV QRZ.com page. The vessel will provide all power (2 x 27KW generators) and air conditioned sleeping, operating and galley areas. For operators who would like to join the expedition, please send me an email. Anyone with FT-8 F&H experience from the expedition side please state so. What we need: About 11 operators. Someone with experience in contacting DX clubs to solicit donations. Donations are being accepted at the expedition PayPal account ([email protected]). Make sure you note your callsign so we can add you to the express LoTW list." QSL KH6VV/KH4 ONLY via ClubLog's OQRS. ADDED UPDATES (FROM DX-WORLD.NET) by Ron, KH6DV: * August 2nd -- "Upon further review by the DXCC desk we will be moving the equipment and operators to land. As I said whatever it takes to count. We won't be going to these efforts to not count. All will be documented." * August 3rd -- "We have a list of 10 well experienced expedition operators on the high interest list which is 1-2 fewer then we need. These were received in the first day and a half after the announcement. My hope is that now that we are into the weekend people will have time to consider making the trip. I believe one of the problems is that so many have been there on the last expedition 10 years ago and are looking for new places to go rather then a return to somewhere they have been. We will let this run till about August 15th at which time we need to make the decision to proceed or delay till later in the year." OPDX MAILING LIST (Just A Reminder). The "new" OPDX Mailing List is back up and running! Details on how to subscribe/unsubscribe are at the bottom of this bulletin. PLEASE pass the word around.... Thanks and 73 de Tedd KB8NW PA75, THE NETHERLANDS. Look for special event station PA75OMG to be active between September 12-22st. Activity is to commemorate and celebrate the anniversary of freedom. As part of Operation Market Garden(OMG) in World War II, paratroopers of the allied forces, such as American, British, Canadian, Polish and Dutch troops, landed in the Nijmegen region on Sep- tember the 17th, 1944, and the region would soon be liberated after four years of German occupation. During the 10 days of activity, they will try to work as many amateur radio operators across the world as possible. QSL via the infon on QRZ.com. For more details and pictures, see:

SV/A, MT. ATHOS (Monk Iakovos, SV2RSG, Mount Athos News). The following is a letter written by Monk Iakovos, SV2RSG, and was provided by Theodore Giamtsidis, SV1GRM: Dear Radio Amateur friends, I am Monk Iakovos from the Holy Monastery of Koutloumousiou of Mount Athos, bearing the distinct amateur radio call sign SV2RSG. I hereby take the liberty to contact you and write in the circumstances of what has been circulated as sporadic rumors regarding Mount Athos, Monk Apollo and me in conjunction to the issue of ham radio activities (radio amateur). My sole purpose and intention is to provide clarification, based on actual facts and figures, in restoration of the truth. Regarding my eligi- bility as a radio amateur and solid proof of it, there are the relevant official records in the competent state service offices in Thessaloniki but also in the pertinent Ministry in Athens, for anyone interested in accessing, verifying, learning more, as well as relevant accompanying photographic material that has come under exposure to public eye at various given time periods. Concerning the subject of a radio amateur license held by the passed Monk Apollo (SV2ASP), whether licensed by the Holy Community (Greek Hiera Koenotes) of Mount Athos for Amateur Radio Broadcasting, I would like to clarify the following: The Holy Community has never shown any sign of interest in this issue, until as recently as only 4 years ago. The only permission granted to the late blessed Monk Apollo was for radio warning communications (regarding natural as well as other serious environmental hazards and disasters), in order to provide wider relative information on local and near periphery level and thus triggering response and support on combating, restricting and mitigating these disasters. On the other hand, it was exactly the outbreak of a ravaging wildfire on Mount Athos with terrible catastrophic effects that provided the motive for a more positive disposition towards mentioned ham radio activity. However, there has never actually been a permit for ham radio amateur contests or daily ham radio activities, nor has it been any concern in the interests of the Holy Community to deal with this issue, since the Holy Community had at the time and still has much more serious and important issues of actual substance to resolve and deal with than those pertinent to a solitary Monk in his individual activity. I say “individual activity” because the Monastery to which Monk Apollo belonged had not requested for such actions, and had not put forth an official Monastic request as such. This was also further demonstrated by the total ignorance of the Holy Community about the actions of Monk Apollo but also with their absence of knowledge regarding the definition, prin- ciples, purpose, and key-functions of Amateur Radio. This fact alone is a response to those who invoke issues of licenses and concessions. This is also the reason why Monk Apollo did broadcast with Thessaloniki as signal mark location and “/A” mark location on Mount Athos, precisely because the base and station of transmission had to be lawfully seated in Thessaloniki and not on Mount Athos. Having thus no serious and formal information provided on the subject from those who were directly involved and concerned, the Holy Community considered the use and action of Ham Radio as a notion opposing tradition and unrelated to Monasticism and its own tradition. This at the exact very same time when Mount Athos is overwhelmed and flooded with constant use of Internet, YouTube, email, social media, mobile phone applications and every other wireless and recent technological invention services. Although people nowadays do say “mobile” and they mean “cellular phone” the intended proper term to actually use is “radio” (frequency telecommuni- cations). I tried with all my kind disposition and due respect to explain, clarify and inform the Holy Epistasia – the Holy Supervisory Committee of the Community (Greek Hiera Epistasia) – on the issue of “Ham/Amateur Radio”, at the time when the Holy Monastery of Koutloumousiou sent me as a member of their delegation regarding the Monastic request of a ham radio station installation. The Koutloumousiou delegation consisted of Monk Iakovos (SV2RSG), as the representative of the Holy Monastery, the Monk driver and one more Monk, all present during our presentation and attending the whole hearing process of the Monastic request. Representatives of the Holy Epistasia of the Holy Community of Mount Athos were the Holy Protepistate and other two Monastery Epistates (Supervisors). Immediately, it became obviously clear that the Holy Protepistate and the Monastery Epistates had, plausibly, no previous or current knowledge of what Ham Radio is in general, its advantages and how it works. In spite of my personal attempt to explain in detail, fill in any gaps or answer eventual queries, unfortunately no one was finally convinced of the use and usefulness of traditional amateur radio, not because they were not convinced based on reasoning and argumentation, but because there was lack of disposition towards dealing with the subject. On the contrary, in reply to our presentation, I was met with many negative comments and criticism about Monk Apollo and his ham radio activities that I would not ever disclose for the sake of respect and esteem for the late brother Monk Apollo. On many occasions I have even received rebukes, insults and slander from friends of Monk Apollo and other Ham Radio amateurs, mostly anonymous.. Mentioned above was certainly not with any intention to put blame or accusation on anyone at all, I just need to attribute the truth to the events and actual facts that happened between people we are struggling together with in our weaknesses, passions and selfishness, during our common spiritual struggle and objectives. However, nowadays that we are going through a time period of total radio silence and relevant activity in Mount Athos, this due to plausible ignorance and partial lack of interest in such ham radio activities on the part of the Holy Community (because of so many other more important and pressing issues demanding our attention) we do have the opportunity to make an appeal. With the status of a Holy Mount Athos Monk and as a Radio Amateur at the same time, I invite and urge you and all those who love Mount Athos and the tradition of Amateur Radio to join our hearts and voices in sending letters or emails of support in spirit of respect to the Holy Community, and pray and request for: Its reconsideration on the issue and – granting their kind permission to install radio communications station(s), not to any individual Monks, but to any of the Holy Monasteries that do wish to install and operate such an installation (after decision of the Monasteries’ ‘Committee’ and the ‘Council of Elders’) by designating / appointing a Monk Radio Operator responsible for its proper function, under the stand- ards and guidelines of well-established international and domestic tele- communication rules and regulations. Glory be to God and our Lord Saviour Jesus Christ for all things! In spirit of Jesus Christ’s love for all. Monk Iakovos Koutloumousianos, SV2RSG T30, WESTERN KIRIBATI. SCRAPBOOK 2017 TAKE 3, I GUESS!
Scrapbook for the third part of 2017, because tumblr doesn’t like it when you have a million links on one post hates me. Though I guess I have been paying a lot more attention to the music parts of these, so sigh.
Once more unto the breach!
Italicized titles = enjoyed muchly, bold titles = love, titles with an asterisk* = OBSESSION and titles in (brackets) are re-watches/re-reads. And lastly, strikethough = DISLIKE.
Goals are: read thirty-five new books this year (hah! still behind!), finish four video games (done? i think?), finish writing and publish the Sabriel AU (hah. hah.), and write something original (yeah, not doing so great on the goals here).

(P O I S O N by goddamnhella (Inuyasha; Inuyasha/Sesshomaru; 160k;  The adventure is over: the heroes have all gone home. But one story was never told, one that began when two brothers swore their feud would never end. But the battle against Sou'unga may have changed everything.))
Theft of a Thief by FortunesRevolver (P5; Yusuke/Akira; 5k; “Yes,” Akira hissed, a hand coming up to cover Ann’s mouth before she could go any further. “I really like artistic… coffee.”)

The Course of Honour by Avoliot (Original; M/M; 117k;  When Jainan arrived on Iskat to represent his home planet in a diplomatic marriage to Imperial Prince Taam, he was naïve enough to hope the match would work. Taam knew better. Five years later, his confidence shattered, Jainan is released when Taam dies in an accident, only to be faced with another marriage to help salvage his treaty. Jainan understands how the real world works now; but Prince Kiem - the cheerful, scandal-prone darling of the Iskat celebrity magazines - keeps breaking all the rules he's learned.)

Break the Lock by Ruby_Wednesday (Captive Prince; Damen/Laurent; 25k; It should have been simple – the hold-up, heist, armed robbery, whatever you want to call it. Damen called it working for the family business. He was ready to storm into the casino and take a chunk of cash back from the Veretians. They'd taken enough from his side.He was ready, waiting, and then someone else arrived into the alleyway with bright blue eyes the only things visible through the black mask. After that, it wasn't simple.)
(Men Who Had Mothers by zeitgeistic (Harry Potter; Drarry; 11k;  This is what happens when you spend all of your time trying to save the world and never bother to see what you're saving. Inspired by vegans, philosophy, mothers, docks, and hopes and dreams.))

Patience on a Monument by betts (GoT; Jaime/Brienne; 21k;  Having a Jaime in your life means living in a soap opera, except you can’t DVR it to watch later, and the main character sometimes ends up in your guest bedroom for an undisclosed period of time because he has a woefully codependent relationship with his sister.)
Single Use Weapon by Fahye (Kings; Jack/David; 67k; "The king is dead," says Samuels. "Long live the king.")

Athelas by astolat (Thor; Thor/Loki; 20k;  There was a sharp and bitter edge crept into the words, a reminder that not all was well: that Thor still had a brother, but not a friend.)
(Shatter by Aria (Thor; Thor/Loki; 30k;  "Loki," Odin says, heavy with disappointment and regret for all he has to raise his voice, "Odinson. I cast you out."))

A Second Chance at First Impressions by Cobrilee (TW; Sterek; 7k;  Derek grew up with the world's most embarrassing soulmark, which is honestly not the best first impression his soulmate could make. Then he meets the guy, and all of a sudden the soulmark doesn't matter quite so much after all.)

how to be eaten by a woman (Star Wars; Reylo; 1,350 words; “So why don’t you do it?” he asks, breathless. His chest is heaving, his mouth open, gasping for breath.“Do what?” Rey asks, and thinks about biting his mouth. The corners of his lips tick upwards. Kylo squints at her, half-smiling. “That.”)
October
move the stars for no one (SGA/Labyrinth; Mcshep; 3,049 words; “You have no power over me,” Rodney whispers, just to see the way that the Goblin King’s eyes narrow - how he steps closer, until his narrow hips are pressed up against the footboard. He slouches in towards Rodney, sways toward him, his clever eyes hooded, and smiles like he’s won something. Asks, “You sure about that?”)
is this love? (SW; Reylo; 4,013 words; “It’s okay,” her brother tells her on their wedding night, lowering himself to sit on the floor beside her, until his nose is level with her shaking knees. When he smiles, he looks like a monster. “You don’t have to love me.”Then he goes to sleep on the couch, taking only a threadbare pillow from their marriage bed.)
rise again (SGA/SW/Dishonored, Rey, Emily, and John Sheppard, 952 words, “You’re Emily Kaldwin.” A pause. “You are, aren’t you?” Emily blows out a loud sigh, giving him an annoyed look, as if he’s to blame for the fact that she’s the most recognizable face in all the Isles. “Might be.” “Huh,” the girl says, and takes a seat right there on the floor. “I’m Rey.”)
i hope you’ll be happy, miss tara joan (SGA, Rodney/John, original child character, 360 words, They turn off John’s life support on a Thursday.)
blue lips, blue veins (Voltron, Keith & Allura, 655 words, “I am not,” he says stubbornly, “kissing you awake.”)
jewel of the south (Dishonored/Star Wars, Corvo & Rey, 686 words, The girl watches him warily, hunkered down in a nest of blankets in the corner. She’s a squatter, that much is obvious from her thin, patched clothing and the general disrepair of the apartment that Corvo’s found himself in. He blinks around, eyes lighting on a sofa, a desk, a couple rat-gnawed shoes.“You’re bleeding all over my floor,” she says flatly, her eyes heavy on him. “I’m bleeding all over your balcony,” he corrects, and wavers hard enough that his other leg gives out from under him. “And I’m mostly sure that it isn’t yours.”)

hard and heavy, dirty and mean (Stranger Things; Steve/Billy; 2,846 words;  “Remember,” he whispers in Steve’s ear, his breath hot. “You wanted this.”)
December
I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus (SGA; Mcshep; 3,855 words; Rodney can’t see much about the man inside of the Santa costume from where he’s standing, the wig and beard hides what the suit doesn’t, but there’s something in his mannerisms that makes Rodney feel a spark of familiarity. He swallows and is still trying to puzzle it out when the Santa finishes with the little girl and turns their way.John Sheppard looks back out at Rodney from behind a fuzzy white Santa beard, his eyes widening almost imperceptibly as they shift from Rodney to Charlie and then back again.Jesus - fucking - Christ.)

VP6R PITCAIRN ISLAND DXPEDITION NEWS. On September 8th, the following was
posted by Ralph, K0IR, on the Pitcairn Island DXpedition 2019 FaceBook
page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/580069859103416) with pictures
[edited]: “The Braveheart arrived on Pitcairn Island on schedule on Sept.
6th. After waiting out a torrential rain, all our DXpedition gear was
unloaded and taken ashore by the Pitcairn Island longboats. Generators,
fuel, antennas and masts, Flex radios, ACOM amps, the DX Engineering 160
vertical, Yagis, —– everything. It’s all there, stored safe and dry
in the engineering building. When the roads dry out, all our gear will
be moved to our operating sites and be ready for us when we arrive in
October.
This process will save us 150 to 200 man hours of installation time
and get us on the air much faster.
Thank you Braveheart and Pitcairn Island crews!!”

XW, LAOS (Update). Per DX-World.net, Simon, G6JFY/HS0ZIB/XZ2A, has announced
that he has received his new callsign XW0LP (Suffix “LP” stands for Luang
Prabang, the town in north Laos where he now live). License is good for
one year as of October 1st, and is initially valid only for 20 meter band
operations. Simon states, “On 20 meters, I will be active every day,
mostly using FT8. My rig sits right next to my work desk, so I can keep
an eye on the band and answer calls as they are received. I WON’T use
Fox + Hounds mode on FT8, just simple, single mode. I operate my FT8
software manually so that I can select which call to reply to.” QSL via
ClubLog. NO BUREAU cards.
