GOTG 3 spoilers!!!
I find very interesting how music had always formed a part of Rocket's life.
The HE made him hear some weird music that represented all the negativity in his life. "Be not as you are, but how you should be." Basically meaning that you should never love your imperfections. That you need to change yourself in order to fit expectations.
Then some years later, this weird half human comes into his life. With him he brings all kinds of songs in vast ranges of emotions and sounds. Most of them about artists mirroring a feeling inside Rocket. Like the son "Creep" by radio head or "Come and get your love".
This stupid, imperfect and sometimes incompetent Terran man is full of flaws, yet he doesn't hate any of them or try to change himself. Instead this strange man that sings loudly and sways his hips to the rhythm just embraces them. Accepting himself and all the Guardians as they are. With all their mood swings, troubled pasts, social ineptitude and inability to carry a normal conversation. This man doesn't care, and it is through his music that Rocket starts to heal. Through the music he starts allowing himself to feel vulnerable and loved again.
It is no coincidence that he stole Peter's devices all the time or that he went out of his way to set up speakers or other gadgets to listen to music. Rocket LOVES music.
It reminds him he is imperfect but that being imperfect is what makes him himself.
Music saved him.
