Things I learned:
Grammar - Forming verbs in the present tense and the spelling rules associated with that, question words, the different forms of which
Vocab - there were about 30 news words this week in the vocab box, but I also added ones that had special grammar/spelling exceptions to my Anki deck. There were less words this week because it's a review week :)
OK correction from the last time I did one of these posts, turns out it wasn't a spelling mistake ('we' instead of 'wij'), it was just the unstressed form of the pronoun 馃ぁ serves me right for not paying that much attention to them
Some sentences:
Wij gaan op bezoek - We go on a visit
Waar ga je naartoe? - Where are you going to?
Welke jurk bedoel je? - Which dress do you mean?

Things I learned:
Pronunciation - I don't really get it yet but I'm sure I will with more exposure.
Grammar - I learned how to make nouns plural using the long vowel/syllable rules, as well as pronouns, to have/to be and forming questions.
Vocab - OK one of the immediate downfalls of this book is that there's no rhyme or reason to the vocab learned?? I really would have appreciated an overview of definite and indefinite articles but noooooooooo that's week 2 work and instead I'm learning what the word for lion is (de leeuw). It's really just teaching me vocab I'll need for the exercises instead of common words and idk how I feel about that, very 'learn this list of pencil case items that you'll rarely, if ever use again' first year French vibes.
Some sentences:
Ja, ik ben moe (yes, I am tired)
Zij is mooi (she is beautiful)
Hij heeft de maan (he has the moon)
Hebben de buren een leeuw en een boot in de tuin? (Do the neighbours have a lion and a boat in the garden?)
I'm very glad I took the extra time to really learn the vocab properly, since I feel like I have a very strong grasp on the content and I can write basic sentences with them, but I think I need a more efficient method so I can get through a chapter in the book in less than 2 months. Maybe adding the vocab to Anki before I properly go through the chapter, and adjust my Anki settings as well? I'll have to see how this goes :D

Language Challenge
So I went to Waterstones the other day and bought Dutch in 3 Months by DK. I don't know a word of Dutch and have the absolute bare bones, basic knowledge of German, so I thought about documenting my progress with learning Dutch with this book. Well, only this book and the free audio app that comes with it.
Is this an objectively terrible way to learn a language? No idea, that's what I'm finding out, but it sure isn't ideal to use only 1 resource. Am I going to do it anyway to find out how effective this book is? Yes.
I've been interested in Dutch for a while because of its similarity to German (and also because of Ray and Theo <3 @dutch-polyglot @theosaurus), so this might be a good way to work through my German hiatus and form some language alliances for among us purposes
I have my AS exams in the next couple months so I have no idea how consistent I'll be with this, who knows I may give up halfway through, but better to have learned something than not learn anything at all, right?
I'm going to try and start this challenge in March and give weekly progress updates, but again, historically I haven't been consistent with completing langblr challenges so keep your expectations on the floor for me 馃槄

Things I learned:
Grammar - Articles, demonstratives, dit/dat/het + zijn + noun for identifying/describing, forms of address, making nouns plural (more in-depth rules than last week), feminine forms of nouns
Vocab - I'm learning a similar amount of words to last week, approximately 60, and still as random as ever, highlights including versleten (worn out as in shoes) and de etalage (shop window). I will say that even though the vocab is based on the exercises it is pretty satisfying to be able to understand the exercise quite well and knowing I can form a lot of sentence combos, no matter how random.
Minor complaints - in one of the Dutch to English exercises 'we' is written in English instead of Dutch, 2 sentences from a conversation were missing from the audio
Some sentences:
Deze rokken zijn mooi (these skirts are beautiful)
De jongens en meisjes zijn van de tuin (the boys and girls are in the garden)
Die romans zijn over een Engelse bibliothecaresse (Those novels are about an English librarian (f) )
