King Jerry Ltd
Tumblr media
BACKGROUND
King Jerry is an Indian full-service airline, based in Delhi, with its hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The carrier commenced operations on 15 June, 2014 with its inaugural flight between Delhi and Kolkata. The airline had carried more than three million passengers by June 2016 and as of Sep 2019, has a 6.2% share of the domestic carriers. The airline serves 60 airports in India (20- International, 40- Domestic) with a fleet of 30 Boeing 737 and 22 Airbus A320 Aircrafts, operated on profitable routes with higher passenger load factors. It operates 560 flights/day.
 HISTORY
Initially being a low-cost carrier, King Jerry offered only economy class seating. To keep fares low, it did not provide complimentary meals on any of its flights, though it provided a buy-on board in-flight meal program. No in-flight entertainment was available initially. It offered services, such as a pre-assigned seat, multiple cancellations and priority check-in, to its passengers who are willing to pay a higher fare. In September 2015, the company announced its tie up with SonyLIV on demand video app for providing its fliers with entertainment options at the airport and in flight.
 FUTURE PROSPECT
The airline will be introducing its first international destination, Colombo, with flights connecting to Chennai. Company will be introducing operations in total of 5 international destinations with 12 short- haul flights. London will be the airline's first long-haul destination and will be launched after successful operation of short-haul international flight.
The airline will be expanding its fleet with 4 Boeing 787 Dream liner aircraft to operate on international routes.
 CORPORATE AFFAIRS
In November 2018, it entered into talks with an Indian airline over a possible merger which ended in a no deal. According to the airline, it is a planned strategy due to the tough aviation environment in India and to focus on maintaining profitability rather than on capturing market share and increasing the destinations and fleet size. But later contradicting its statement in 2019, it bagged the fifth largest carrier in the country with an 7.9% market share following the announcement about expansion. The airline is headquartered in Delhi, India. Shantanu has served as the Managing Director of the airline since its inception.

 NEWS AND RUMORS
1.     A passenger misbehaved with a female flight attendant. And according to the practice, she conveyed the incident to the cockpit and reported to the chief flight attendant. As the flight had already taken-off, the chief decided this to be the first thing to be looked in as they land and for now, they had the passenger flex-cuffed as directed by other pit members. But when this was reported to King Jerry, the company didn't take any actions against the passenger and instead fired the flight attendant after a heated argument. Owing to this, 5% of the female flight attendants resigned and other employees went on strike because of this irresponsibility on part of the company and not following the air rage rules.
2.     One of the competitor airlines, Jet airways, is facing a shutdown. And because of this shutdown, a large pool of talented employees is available to King Jerry .These people are in search of job opportunities and are applying at various vacant positions.
3.     King Jerry had a technological redesign and now owns various upgrades. One of the upgrades is replacement of traditional baggage system with latest Baggage Handling Mechanism. It has led to tremendous decrease in the requirement of ground staff. Hence the company is planning to transfer few of the excess employees for the new international routes and fire the rest.
·       Post- Installation; 1 employee will be laid off for every 5 employees on International Airports whereas, 3 employees will be laid off for every 10 employees at Domestic Airports. Transferring will lead to 4.5% increase in accommodation cost and 9% increase in training cost.
4.     Budget 2020 has proposed a monetary limit on the tax-exempt contribution from the employer to NPS account. According to the proposal, employer's contribution to EPF and NPS exceeding more than Rs 7.5 lakh in a financial year will be taxable in the hands of the employee.

3.     Special Hiring decision: There will be a vacancy for a station manager soon. The station manager is the top manager in one of the airline's airport and is responsible for all activities at the airport, from ticketing passengers to handling the fueling and turnaround of an aircraft. The station manager usually supervises one or two ticket desks, two baggage handlers and one or more aircraft servicing people. He/she works from the first flight in the morning until the last flight at night, often a 10-12 hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week, he/she must be good with the public and very passenger oriented. when anything out of ordinary happens. it falls on the station manager to make things right with the passengers. The station with the opening, currently has an all-male crew belonging to majority. The only requirement in the job advertisement is that the application has "related experience in the airline industry". You have passed the list of applicants down to three individuals. whom will you select? (State reasons in word document)

By SPORT EDITOR FOR SUSTAIN HEALTH
PUBLISHED: 04:22, 20 January 2020 | UPDATED: 05:28, 20 January 2020
The NFL and USAA, an Official NFL Salute to Service Partner, announced Atlanta Falcons CEO STEVE CANNON, Detroit Lions Head Coach MATT PATRICIA, and Los Angeles Chargers Legend DONNIE EDWARDS as finalists for the ninth annual Salute to Service Award presented by USAA.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Cannon, Patricia, and Edwards were selected for their exceptional efforts to honor and support members of the military community. The Salute to Service Award recipient will be recognized at NFL Honors, a two-hour primetime awards special to air nationally on Feb. 1, the eve of Super Bowl LIV, on FOX.
USAA, a leading provider of insurance and other services to U.S. military members, veterans and their families, will contribute $25,000 in the award recipient's honor to the official aid societies representing all five military branches. The NFL will match USAA's donation of $25,000, which will be donated to the award recipient's military charity of choice.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The award recipient will receive a specially designed military challenge coin, recognizing their commitment to the military. In what has become a long-standing tradition, challenge coins are presented to members of the military community to encourage excellence, boost morale or to recognize a fellow brother- or sister-in-arms.
"Each having different life experiences and connections to our military, all three finalists for the 'Salute to Service Award presented by USAA' are connected by a shared belief in honoring and showing appreciation to our nation's service members and veterans," said Vice Admiral (Ret.) JOHN BIRD, USAA Senior Vice President of Military Affairs. "Steve, Coach Patricia, and Donnie are all worthy finalists and we salute them for their continued commitment to America's military community."
The Salute to Service Award is part of the NFL and USAA's year-round commitment to recognize and honor the military community. In October 2019, 32 NFL clubs nominated coaches, active and retired players, and team executives and personnel, who best demonstrated support for the military community. These nominees were publicly announced in November and the submissions were evaluated by a panel of judges, including last year's award recipient, former Atlanta Falcons and current San Francisco 49ers guard BEN GARLAND. Nominees' credentials are evaluated based on the positive effect of the individual's efforts on the military community, the type of service conducted, the thoroughness of the program and level of commitment.
The panel of judges, consisting of representatives from the U.S. military, the NFL and USAA, includes:
VICE ADMIRAL JOHN BIRD (Ret.), U.S. Navy veteran, USAA Senior Vice President of Military Affairs
CHAD HENNINGS, Air Force Academy graduate, three-time Super Bowl champion
BEN GARLAND, San Francisco 49ers guard and 2018 Salute to Service Award recipient
JIM MORA, SR., Marine Corps veteran, former NFL head coach
VINCENT JACKSON, Former NFL player & 2015 Salute to Service Award recipient
LENNY BANDY, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and NFL Vice President of Security
Since 2011, USAA has used its sponsorship to honor and appreciate active-duty military, veterans and their families by creating unique opportunities that bring the military community and the NFL closer together. Among numerous events this season, USAA hosted "NFL Boot Camps" during training camp with multiple teams and at military installations at home and abroad, where military members competed in drills similar to those used at the NFL Combine, Super Bowl ticket giveaways for military veterans and offering military members the chance to meet NFL players in small groups. STEVE CANNON (CEO, Atlanta Falcons)
Steve Cannon, CEO of Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur M. Blank's family of businesses, is the personification of what the NFL's Salute to Service Award was created to honor. His passion and drive to provide America's military community meaningful recognition, unique engagement opportunities and enduring support they may not otherwise have is constant and central to his leadership ethic. Cannon's commitment to the military and related causes began with his own personal commitment. Cannon, who graduated with honors from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1986, was Airborne Ranger qualified and served as First Lieutenant in West Germany during the fall of the Iron Curtain. During his time in the Army he also served five years as an artillery officer. Through Cannon's countless hours of service to multiple military non-profits over the years, his constant "military first" mindset and utilization of the NFL's platform has provided active duty service members, veterans and military families with first class experiences and support.
In addition to empowering and giving back to the military community, Cannon has played a large role in bringing awareness to the general population on the importance of honoring and recognizing our Nation's Heroes. Through Cannon's military and professional career, he has consistently found ways to implement programs in service to our military, active duty specifically. Upon his entrance into the Atlanta Falcons organization, he realized the impact of the NFL platform and challenged the Club to be "best in class" and to "become the benchmark franchise in all of professional sports" in terms of our military outreach and appreciation. The Atlanta Falcons became the first ever NFL team to conduct their own USO Tour. Another challenge that Cannon put on the team was to make every single Atlanta Falcons home game a "Salute to Service" game; and to not just celebrate our current service members and veterans once in November. Additionally, the Falcons host and honor through video tribute, a family from the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) at every single home game. The Falcons have raised more than $250,000 to help homeless veterans across the state of Georgia.
On January 1, 2014, Cannon's life was changed forever when his brother, also a West Point graduate, took his own life due to post traumatic stress disorder. Cannon, through his heartbreak, also found a light. Seeing what his family was going through, he wanted to make sure that any other family that experiences the unbearable pain of losing a loved one, feels cared for, is nurtured and has opportunities in their time of most need. Cannon serves on the Board of Directors of three organizations whose values are built around providing opportunities for military and their families. Since 2014, he has served on the Board of Directors for Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund and Children of Fallen Patriots; while also serving on the TAPS Board of Directors since 2017. Cannon co-founded the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund in 2014, a nonprofit organization that honors military service and sacrifice by providing scholarships and educational programs to veterans and military family members, especially to children of our nation's fallen or disabled. Since 2014, Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund has helped over 1,500 military children with scholarships totaling $12 million; the Fund will award an additional $4 million+ in scholarships in 2019. A member of the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund Executive Committee and Board of Directors, Cannon has been instrumental in their fundraising efforts. They have raised $20 million since 2014.
Cannon always has the United States military on the forefront of what we do, and their families, and the Atlanta Falcons are honored to have a such a special leader push the organization to excellence and make sure they take care of those who fight for our freedom every day. "There is a debt we owe to those who make the ultimate sacrifice and we will pay that debt by taking care of the families left behind," says Cannon.
MATT PATRICIA (Head Coach, Detroit Lions)
Entering in his 17th season as an NFL coach and third as the head coach of the Lions, Matt Patricia's support of the United States Armed Forces dates back to his days as an aeronautical engineering major at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where his "first love" was airplanes. With several close friends currently serving in the military, specifically the Navy, Patricia grows his beard every season to honor his loved ones overseas – most of whom typically sport full beards. "I'm not shaving until you get back. When you see us on TV, or see me on TV, you'll know I'll be thinking about you," Patricia said during his press conference at Super Bowl LII. In 2018, his first year as head coach, the Lions partnered with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). Through Patricia's work with Lions players on the launch of the team's social justice initiative, Detroit Lions Inspire Change, the Lions became the first NFL team to fund scholarship opportunities for TAPS families.
During the team's Salute to Service game against the Carolina Panthers in 2018, Patricia hosted Michigan-based TAPS families and, alongside several players, honored the families' lost loved ones with personalized buttons and helmet decals on game day. Lions players also conducted a ticket drive that invited hundreds of military members to the Panthers game. This past year, Patricia and the Lions honored 25 TAPS families when Detroit took on the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 17. As part of the last two My Cause My Cleats initiatives, Patricia showcased the Word of Honor Fund, which provides a continuum of support that facilitates milestone events for the surviving children of Navy SEALs and Special Operations personnel who lost their lives while assigned to select Naval Special Operations Groups. Last June, he donated 325 backpacks to the organization's Annual Summertime Gathering in Willow Creek, Idaho. Over the last two years, Patricia and the Lions have hosted and helped fund the Drug Enforcement Agency's Maltz Challenge, an annual worldwide cross-fit event held in memory of DEA Special Agent and United States Airforce Pararescue man Mike Maltz that honors service men and women lost in the line of duty. This past March, more than 150 participants gathered at the team's Allen Park practice facility to compete in the event, where Patricia greeted participants and helped organize a gift presentation to the family of Private First Class Tarryl Hill, a Southfield, Mich. native who died while serving in the Iraq War.
Patricia's commitment to supporting the service men and women of our country is also rooted in a passion for preserving and honoring American history. In June 2018, Patricia led a private trip of the entire team and coaching staff to Arlington National Cemetery, where the team together remembered fallen heroes before embarking on the upcoming season. During this trip, Patricia and the team's player leadership council also visited Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This past August, while participating in joint training camp practices with the Houston Texans, Patricia also coordinated a team trip to the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, NASA's headquarters for human spaceflight training. Lions players and staff were given an exclusive opportunity to hear NASA astronaut and United States Navy SEAL Chris Cassidy present on his distinguished career path, as well as the many parallels between the training regimens of professional football players and astronauts. Throughout the football season, Patricia consistently hosts military friends at both home and road games and also allows them to take part in team meetings and view practice. Over the last two seasons, he has also brought in retired Three-Star United States Navy Admiral John "Boomer" Stufflebeem to speak to the team on topics ranging from media training to culture building. A former Lions punter and close friend of Patricia, Stufflebeem served 39 years in the Navy and is well-known for his role as the primary media liaison for the Pentagon following the attacks of September 11, 2001.
DONNIE EDWARDS (Los Angeles Chargers Legend)
During Donnie Edwards' five seasons with the Chargers, he was twice voted as an All-Pro linebacker and at the time of his retirement, Edwards was one of only eight players in the history of the NFL to record 20 interceptions and 20 sacks over a career. While he was heavily involved with bettering the community and actively supporting the military during his playing days, Edwards continues his efforts currently by taking full advantage of his connections off the field to support the world around him, especially military veterans. It was Edwards' long-standing family ties to the military which moved him to lend his support to our troops overseas, including participating in seven tours with the USO proudly working to help boost morale for members of our military.
"My family has been in the military since my grandpa, who is a Pearl Harbor survivor with the 25th infantry division," Edwards said. "His service and sacrifice to this country has always pushed me to support our military and so I'm a life-long supporter of our military."
Edwards' passion has now taken a very special direction as he has founded the Best Defense Foundation that takes World War II veterans and Vietnam Veterans back to their battlefields and memorials so they can make peace and pay respect to their fallen soldiers who never got a chance to live a full life.
"It's been really rewarding for me. I've been taking back veterans for about 14 years and I've done over 33 programs around the world, from Berchtesgaden, Germany to the beaches of Iwo Jima, and all in-between," said Edwards.
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day, Edwards had a goal to return as many veterans as he could to Normandy. His goal was achieved earlier this offseason, as Edwards and his Best Defense Foundation took 16 veterans and a nurse who served in World War II on a 10-day trip to the shores of northern France.
Edwards has participated in nine USO tours. In February 2019, Edwards along with another NFL Legend went to Japan on an NFL-USO Tour to watch the Super Bowl with the troops in Okinawa. Like Normandy, he took seven Iwo Jima survivors back to the islands earlier this year. He credits the game of football for giving him the platform to do so much for those who served.
His dedication to giving back comes from his family. His grandfather, Sergeant Maximino Razo, was a Pearl Harbor survivor, a father-figure for Edwards growing up. "I do it in his honor and his legacy," he said. "Growing up, he took care of me when I was young, and now I'm taking care of the guys. Our motto is, 'Taking care of the ones who took care of us.'" His desire in his post-football career is to help those who fought for our freedoms on countless battlefields heal their old wounds and say goodbye to long lost friends makes him special.

Australian encryption-busting Bill would create backdoors: Cisco
Despite the Australian government repeatedly claiming that its Assistance and Access Bill would not involve the creation of backdoors, networking giant Cisco has accused Canberra of doing just that.
In a submission [PDF] to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security — which is currently reviewing the legislation as the government attempts to ram it through Parliament — Cisco called out Canberra for not allowing greater transparency on disclosing notices and requests from Australian authorities to access encrypted communications.
“We have defined a ‘backdoor’ to include any surveillance capability that is intentionally created and yet not transparently disclosed,” Cisco said.
“To the extent that the Bill would require via a [Technical Capability Notice] the creation of a capability while simultaneously preventing the [communication providers] from documenting the existence of that capability, the law would result in the creation of backdoors.”
The networking giant pointed to statements made by its CEO Check Robbins in October 2016 when addressing rumours that American companies had cosy arrangements with Washington intelligence agencies.
“We don’t provide backdoors. There is no special access to our products,” Robbins said at the time.
Cisco said in its submission that in order to maintain customer trust, any “form of surveillance technique” in its products must be publicly disclosed.
“Cisco is most certainly not alone in having foresworn the existence of backdoors in technology products and services. As such, this issue is a significant concern that should be promptly addressed via an amendment to the Bill,” the company said.
It further warned that other governments would likely follow Australia’s lead if the Assistance and Access Bill is passed in its current form, and that it does not customise its lawful communication interception capabilities for any nation, and all such capabilities are described in product documentation.
“Without further amendment, we believe the net result of these changes would harm the security interests of Australia by setting a precedent that could be adopted by less liberal regimes,” Cisco said.
Read more: Australia’s anti-encryption law will merely relocate the backdoors: Expert
Under the proposed law, Australian government agencies would be able to issue three kinds of notices:
Technical Assistance Notices (TAN), which are compulsory notices for a communication provider to use an interception capability they already have;
Technical Capability Notices (TCN), which are compulsory notices for a communication provider to build a new interception capability, so that it can meet subsequent Technical Assistance Notices; and
Technical Assistance Requests (TAR), which have been described by experts as the most dangerous of all.
Tasked with overseeing Australia’s intelligence agencies, Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security (IGIS) Margaret Stone warned in her submission that technical assistance requests could allow for the voluntary creation of backdoors.
“This raises the legal possibility that ASIO, ASIS, or ASD could negotiate an agreement with a provider to voluntarily create or fail to remediate a ‘backdoor’,” Stone wrote.
“While it is foreseeable that many providers would decline any such request because it is incompatible with their commercial and reputational interests, the possibility appears to exist that an individual provider could be persuaded to do so, and if so, compensated in accordance with a contract, agreement, or other arrangement.”
Stone called on the government to add increased reporting provisions to the Bill that would force agencies to notify IGIS of when requests were made.
No time to weaken encryption
Amongst the 31 submission to the joint committee published late on Friday afternoon, Apple said the best way for the government to reach its objective of tracking down criminals and terrorists was through stronger encryption, and not by weakening it.
“This is no time to weaken encryption,” Apple wrote. “There is profound risk of making criminals’ jobs easier, not harder.”
Cupertino argued that by reducing security for one customer, it would also reduce the security of “millions of law-abiding customers in order to investigate the very few who pose a threat”.
“The government may seek to compel a provider to develop custom software to bypass a particular device’s encryption. The government’s view is that if it only seeks such tool for a particular user’s device, it will create no systemic risk,” Apple said.
“As we have firmly stated, however, the development of such a tool, even if deployed only to one phone, would render everyone’s encryption and security less effective.”
Apple expressed concern that one of the Bill’s few outs — preventing communication providers from building a “systemic weakness” into products to comply — could be circumvented and allow agencies to prevent certain users from receiving security updates, or prevent providers from fixing security flaws, if Canberra deemed such actions non-systemic.
See: The race to ruin the internet is upon us
The iPhone-maker called for the introduction of a provision to allow for judicial review prior to technical capability notices being issued, and said it was deeply concerned that the government could force real-time interception of over-the-top-based messages and calls.
As a company that stores much of its customer data in the United States, Apple said it could face criminal sanctions for “any unauthorised interception of content in transit” under US law, or if Canberra wanted data on EU citizens, it could face fines of 4 percent of annual turnover thanks to the General Data Protection Regulation.
“Forcing business with operations outside Australia to comply with TANs or TCNs that violate the laws of other countries in which they operate, will just incentivise criminals to use service providers that never assist Australian authorities or ones that operate underground in jurisdictions unfriendly to Australian interests,” Apple said.
“Rather than serving the interests of Australian law enforcement, it will just weaken the security and privacy of regular customers while pushing criminals further off the grid.”
A number of submissions warned the government to think of the global implications of its proposed laws.
“A rush to enact legislation in the proposed form could do significant harm to the internet,” Mozilla wrote.
“TCNs in particular present the government with capabilities that we don’t believe are appropriate, as well as being a significant risk to the security of the Internet. The bill as proposed represents a one-sided view, without adequate consideration for the broader and longer-term costs and repercussions of its implementation.”
Mozilla said that TCNs are, in effect, an “intentional introduction of a security vulnerability”, and said the Bill could harm Australian companies in the global economy.
It was a view shared by Australian email provider FastMail, which said laws removing privacy would not help Australia’s brain drain.
“To the extent that this Bill takes us further out of alignment with protections expected by the rest of the world, it hurts the ability of all Australian companies to compete in the global market.”
In a prior round of consultation, the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) said the Bill’s provisions represented an existential threat to the internet’s security and integrity.
IAB chair Ted Hardie stated a method to compel an infrastructure provider to break encryption or provide false trust arrangements will introduce a systemic weakness that threatens to erode trust in the internet itself.
“The mere ability to compel internet infrastructure providers’ compliance introduces that vulnerability to the entire system, because it weakens that same trust,” Hardie said. “The internet, as a system, moves from one whose characteristics are predictable to one where they are not.”
If similar legislation where implemented by other jurisdictions, the IAB said the end result could be the fragmentation of the internet itself.
Read: Australian encryption Bill raises bar for outrageous legislation: Comms Alliance
“This approach, if applied generally, would result in the internet’s privacy and security being the lowest common denominator permitted by the actions taken in myriad judicial contexts. From that perspective, this approach drastically reduces trust in critical internet infrastructure and affects the long term health and viability of the internet,” the IAB said.
Speaking to the National Press Club last Wednesday, Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton said the changes already made to the Bill have resulted in it being compromised.
“I think there is a common-sense approach here. I think the government has crafted that common-sense approach, but it can only be enacted if it is supported in the Senate,” Dutton said. “We can’t have on key national security Bills compromises because we’re dealing with five or six or eight different senators all with different motivations, and pulling in every direction.”
Dutton said Opposition Leader Bill Shorten needs to decide whether he is on the side of Silicon Valley multinationals or with “law enforcement and intelligence agencies in this country who want to protect Australians”.
The Home Affairs minister added that tech giants need to be hounded to pay more tax in Australia, have breached user privacy for commercial advantage, and are protesting moves to force them to help law enforcement in Western countries while simultaneously doing business in authoritarian growth markets.
“It is essential. Given we are talking about nine out of 10 national security investigations now being impeded because of the use of encryption, we need to deal with it. It doesn’t go as far as some people would want, but it is a measured response,” he added.
The minister called for the Bill should be dealt with sooner rather than later.
