00:14I don't think I'm going to get into the00:15garden today that was the plan I was00:18going to get in the garden shoot a00:19garden update but we're going to have to00:23go to plan B well since the weather is00:27not going to cooperate with us today I00:29thought I would come inside get in front00:31of the green screen and give you some00:32quick and easy tips to help you and your00:35garden going out on the date maybe you00:38got to do a job interview soon or you've00:41got a job where you transact with the00:42public take a bar of soap rake your00:45fingernails across it before you start00:47working in the garden soil and then when00:50you get done you can go inside wash your00:52hands take a fingernail brush to it and00:54you'll have squeaky clean fingernails00:57got a problem with aphids find some01:00yellow cups coat them in Vaseline put01:03them on a stick in your garden and the01:06aphids will stick to that if you got a01:08bunch of cinder blocks laying around you01:10can make a strawberry pyramid you got a01:13lot of herbs you need to dry out lay01:15them out on a flat surface put them in01:17your car roll up the windows and they'll01:19be dry before you know it make sure you01:21use good smelling ones though building a01:25new raised bed garden coat the bottom01:28layer where the grass is with lots of01:31cardboard01:32it'll decompose but it'll kill off the01:35grass first and as it decomposes it'll01:37be great food for your worms always01:40looking for your tape measure when01:42you're out in the garden and maybe01:42planning well if you've got your tape01:45measure handy and a sharpie get a01:47long-handled gardening tool mark off01:49your inches and feet on there and then01:52when you're out gardening all you got to01:53do is lay it down and get your spacing01:56quick and easy got acid-loving plants01:59like azaleas give them some coffee lord02:03knows I need it in the mornings about02:051/4 inch of this applied on the soil02:07makes an excellent mulch and it'll keep02:10the pH of the soil just on the acidic02:13side where it needs it so about 1/4 inch02:15a month cinnamon makes an excellent02:18fungicide mix this into your potting02:21soil when you're starting your seedlings02:22and it will help prevent dampening off02:24also you can sprinkle a little bit on02:26top once you do have spray02:27outs if you start to see green algae and02:29it'll take care of that02:31just don't need a bunch of it at once02:41egg cartons make excellent seed starters02:45just punch some holes in the bottom fill02:46it up with your seed starting mix and02:48you're off to the races02:49and speaking of sprouts once it pops up02:52it's got to be kept moist if it dries it02:56dies once your seedlings have grown two03:00pair of leaves you can transplant them03:03if you got to choose between morning and03:05afternoon Sun take the morning Sun it's03:08more beneficial and easier on your03:09plants I had one viewer that said he had03:12a rat problem well if you've got issues03:16with squirrels deer or mice try this03:19that soap that you used to clean your03:22fingernails make it a bar of Irish03:24Spring apparently they hate the stuff03:26get a cheese grater you don't mind03:28getting soapy and just grate that cheese03:30up and sprinkle it through your garden03:32apparently they hate the smell of it03:35want to keep your weed eater or trimmer03:37line from jamming up and breaking off03:39while you're out taking care of the yard03:42coat it with some vegetable oil cooking03:44spray it will coat the line it'll keep03:47everything nice and slick and hopefully03:49it won't jam up on you well there we go03:52folks some down-and-dirty tips to help03:55you and your garden now if you have any03:57neat ideas I'd love to see them just03:59post them down below in the comments04:01section and we'll share them with all of04:02our community until next time this is04:05Reaganite 71 I hope it dries out and I04:07hope you're doing well and having a good04:09growing season and I'll see you next04:11time
