Haven't been out a whole lot. Just a lot going on and the bird numbers are just not something to write home about, honestly. The days I have been out... I've shot like shit anyway! Still. It's great to get out when I can to reconnect and recharge in nature and it's great at least seeing some birds (albeit, not very cooperative). This is the homeboy @soypepinoriick. He started out as a dude who was looking to get into quail and needed a mentor to show him the ropes of where to find them and where to hunt them. What started out as a one time hunt, turned into a mentorship, which turned into a friendship. He has become a legit upland hunter over the years I have known him. He probably doesn't need me around as much as he did before but he still indulges me with a few hunts every season and I gotta say it's nice to hang out and get after those birds with him. Mentorship turned into an unexpected friendship for me and I learned a lot about teaching and I learned a few things about myself in the process. I highly recommend that all hunters go out try to mentor someone. Especially this year when many people are seemingly more interested in getting outdoors. Reach out to that city slicker. Take someone out that looks different than you. Take the chance. Give it a try.
