Camera Comparison
I am going to compare the two film cameras I shoot on and what I like/dislike about both!
For my 35mm, I shoot on an automatic Pentax. For instant film photography, I shoot on a Polaroid Instant camera from 1985. Both were thrifted items and I got very lucky that they work so well!
Pentax
Overall, this is a great everyday camera for film photography. It’s easy to use and the light meter is accurate. I’ve been shooting on this camera for two years now and I’ve loved the images it produces. Sometimes, I am dissatisfied with the lack of color in some photos, but this is typical among newer automatic cameras versus manual shooting film cameras.
Polaroid
My 1985 polaroid camera was purchased from a film store in Brooklyn, New York. It holds that New York magic in every photo I shoot on it. Instant film has easily become my favorite over the last year and a half. There are so many variables to experiment with and you get to see the photo within 15 minutes of shooting, versus the time it takes to have a roll developed and scanned. The only downside to this camera is that sometimes scratches appear on the polaroids if the exposure is too far off.
I love both of these cameras and hope this post inspires you to delve into film photography! Respond with what camera(s) is your go-to if you shoot.
