Why are Americans weird about atheism? So for context, in Europe (yes the continent) no one really cares if you’re and atheist. It it comes up and you say that you are you’re usually met with a “oh ok, anyways” and life goes on. But I noticed that Americans are usually so anal about atheism, like they can’t physically fathom the concept and they start acting different. It’s like telling someone you have aids and bleed a lot, they treat you worse and I don’t get why. I’ve even heard that some people get shunned and made fun of because they’re an atheist and that isn’t a thing here at all. Any ex religious Americans who could give me their two cents?
