Letter to my 10-year-old self

My dear 10-year-old Self,

You'll be glad to hear that everything turns out fine. I just want to let you know that everything seems to be working well for you!

In your young age, you have a strong sense of right and wrong that will become even stronger as you grow older. Stay true to your instincts; keep doing what you feel is right. Consider listening to your own deep feelings instead of other people's perspectives. Your feelings serve as your most trusted guide.

In the coming years, things are about to get quite confusing. Prepare yourself to deal with tough times and downfalls. No matter what happens, never lose sight of the fact that you are a strong, tenacious person.  Keep a positive outlook and realize that you are doing the right thing. No matter how difficult the day is, you are still doing your best to overcome it. Don't miss out on fun while you're still young and not having problems.  However, even though you might not believe it now, you will make a lot of friends, you will have adventures, and you will have a blast!

The last thing I would like to tell you is to cherish and enjoy every moment of your young age and all the happiness you will experience throughout your journey.

𝒜 𝓁𝑒𝓉𝓉𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝑜 𝓂𝓎 𝟣𝟢-𝓎𝑒𝒶𝓇 𝑜𝓁𝒹 𝒮𝑒𝓁𝒻 🍂

It's good to reminisce the things you did and experience when you were just 10. The tale of what I dreamt, came rushing through my mind.

I just got 20 years old last month and As the reality of that sinks in, I realize just how fast the teenage years have gone past, and how scary to think that my age no longer starts with a '1'. In this time, I have learnt so much, changed so much and grown so much. Of course the 10-year-old me was still me at heart, but I am not the same person I was.

I am now old enough to decide what's right and wrong. Old enough to be responsible and old enough to be independent. It's nice to grow but it entails a lot of pressure in reality. I write this as I'm thinking of my responsibilities as a student, as a sister and as an individual. How hard should I work to sustain my family's needs and how to manage my time being a working student. How I wish I can go back to my childhood days and just enjoy every moments without thinking about anything and so I thought: If I could write a letter to my 10 year old Self, what messages would I write? Any advices to consider? Then here it goes:

Dearest Marjorie,

How are you? Are you enjoying your life now? Please do, you should not think about anything just yet, do enjoy your time playing with other kids, messing with mom and annoying ate. Don't grow too fast, being an adult carries a lot of pressure. You must enjoy the moment of being a child for you will not enjoy this priveledge anymore.

Choose what's best for you, do not mind the hindrances that might block you on your way to success continue to strive hard. Did you know that one thing you're good at is being yourself?? You can have many friends as you want, they will stay. They will surely stay because you have a good heart to cater many. You are reliable and does not judge other, instead you listen to them even if other harms you, you didn't harm them back. That's how good you are as a person.

In terms of studying, don't pressure yourself. Do not push yourself too much, just do whatever you need to do step by step. Because just like what mom have said, a small step is still a progress. Please make sure that you can make mom proud, okay? Always bear in mind that you'll pray for good things to come. Never be put off by the lows in life. The lows are what makes you you; the struggle is part of the story. They teach you something you didn't know about yourself, and that's the only way you're ever going to grow.

In your junior years, you might have low grades but it's fine, try your luck next time. You'll eventually come by. You also came face to face with struggles in your senior years, a lot of challenges may come on your way, a lot of friends may backstab you but it's fine, you'll overcome. Don't let these challenges be a hindrance to your success. There will be a shocking news in your sophomore years, a news you wouldn't expect so please be tough 'kay? You will be alright. In God's grace, you will all be alright.

Enjoy every bits of the moments dearest 10 year old marj, enjoy every summer, every rain and every rainbows. Enjoy them all. Don't grow too fast, there is so much hurting in your older years. Mold yourself first to be strong and to be able in every aspect. You'll never know what's ahead of you so be ready first.

I want to finish the letter with this: you will have a great decade self. One always does better than they think they are, so never lose the faith and just keep digging. Trust your instinct, stay disciplined, don’t over-think life and just learn to love yourself. Fight for everything you believe in. If the door does not open, keep knocking. Keep Every one fantastic and let go of those who not. Keep on going to that little progress, you'll be eventually there at the top someday. Don't regret anything and never look back. Imagine, dream high and work hard. Be proud of yourself. Be confident. You'll do so much better than you ever thought.
