So happy seeing the miguel x chubby reader because- sm of my fictional crushes or like fanfics use like words that allude to being skinny.
I used to think of it as, “they like you despite how you look.” and I was happy and overjoyed, because I had felt like I couldn't be loved.
Someone recently said to me, “when I write, they love you because of how you look.” That every roll and pudge can be covered in their kisses, that being chubby wasn't a downside, that I could be loved truly.
Just wanted to say thank you for all your writing.
- From a chubby girl 🤎
first of all, i wanna say thank u sm for ur kind words, they mean a lot to me <3 but yes, i've always thought this. the notion that somebody could love you despite what you look like sounds nice out loud, sure, but somebody loving you for all you are, your looks included is so special to me.
when someone loves you, it shouldn't be despite your physical characteristics. humans are all different, no one is going to look exactly the same as the other but that's the beauty of it all. each and every one of us is beautiful, no despite, we just are.
the words chubby or fat are not synonymous with ugly. every curve, every roll, every pudge and every spot of cellulite is absolutely perfect and should be treated as such. i write for chubby women not only because i am one myself, but because women like me deserve to see what they should be treated like. they should deserve to know that they should be treated like queens and that every part of them is absolutely beautiful.

fasten your seatbelts Lucy, because I am about to drop a lovebomb on you so emotionally devastating that you won't know what hit you.
Thank you, for taking up Jim. I mean that from the very bottom of my heart, I won't lie that I have bounced from blog to blog and have failed to find any real meaningful connections for each of my characters. Star Trek is one of those franchises that genuinely makes me so happy that i cry actual tears from how much i love it. Seeing you take up Jim inspired me to take up Spock again, and not only am I so grateful for every single moment of this small s/t family that we have built, but also, every single day on the dash feels now like an adventure. I am so grateful that you have given me the time of day and write with me, and allow me to have this dynamic between our characters, because there are so many wonderful interpretations of the character out there, and yet, my spock seems completely inseparable from your jim. the relationship they have created, is so unique and wonderful and interesting , every single thread we have together is full of a wealth of exploration that i never thought we'd get to do, even the shorter crackier stuff.
and don't get me started on the writing - of course i know you from peter, so i knew already that jim was in safe hands with someone who cares about him. but god, reading your writing, i just feel so much connection behind every single word, it's almost poetry. i sit and read it and get so moved !!! jim kirk is such an incredible character and you have brought him to life for a whole new generation of star trek enthusiasts on this hellsite, carving a path for him, creating a throughline for him to which i am utterly amazed at every opportunity that you give us.
everything from jim's humor, to his snark, to his insecurities as captain, to the potential of the man he might and will become, its all there in your writing. i am just immensely honored that i get to call you my friend and my spock gets to call your jim his brother.
Tumblr media
JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL BC I ACTUALLY TORE UP READING THIS I CAN'T EVEN  !!!!!!!!!!  i wish there were enough words in the english language for me to convey how i am floored from reading this that i had to sit here for a good 30 minutes trying to absorb it hence me replying quite after you sent it.  you know,  i actually had no clue that it would be like this  ?!  if i'd known,  i would have picked up Jim way sooner  !  i am so glad that you came back to the fold and i am honored that i was that trigger.  i am super grateful for you and this little cute group.  believe me i feel the same way.  it is fun to write again just !!!!!  although i say every single day that our silly boys mean SO MUCH TO ME.  they conquered my heart in a matter of days.  i can't imagine my writing experience without them anymore ;u; your opinion is extremely important to me bc you are like my ( and the others in the group would agree ) teacher all things star trek.  so you saying i'm doing a good job, saying all these wonderful things about him is EVERYTHING to me.  thank you for your heartfelt msg i adore you akjfdksjfjf

books i read in july 2022
Tumblr media
[these are all short + casual reviews - feel free to msg me and ask about individual ones if u want a full review or ask for my goodreads!!]
not gonna lie rereading gideon & harrow put me into a reading slump because simply nothing else could live up!! we are deep in august and i am STILL thinking about them 🤠
comfort me with apples - catherynne m. valente ★★★★☆ (horror)
this is just a short novella so it’s kind of hard to talk about without spoilers but i do think that valente is my fave author in the fairytale/storybook style and this was no exception! an interesting little mash-up of ideas that was right up my alley personally
harrow the ninth - tamsyn muir ★★★★★ (scifi)
the gideon reread was mostly fun for me but the harrow reread destroyed my soul 💀 it’s so different reading it and actually understanding it and i just literally have not stopped thinking about it. i can’t recommend enough just reading it again if you didn’t “get” it the first time!!
more than this - patrick ness ★★★★☆ (YA scifi)
patrick ness has got to be one of my fave YA authors. very classic YA emotional core, which is very nice to read sometimes when it’s pulled off well (as this was). slow at times but the scifi concepts really push you to think, and i love how he never gives us easy answers
the angel of the crows - katherine addison ★★★★☆ (historical fantasy mystery)
this is literally published sherlock wingfic. the added supernatural elements are interesting but not the focus, so it really is about reliving the ACD sherlock mysteries - extremely fun for me but i suspect this is not a book for everyone. this “watson” was interesting as both a standalone and an adaptation
the deeper the water the uglier the fish - katya apekina ★★★★☆ (contemporary)
i don’t want to be the guy in my friend group who’s always the only person excited by the fucked up contemporary litfic but like .. yeah this is that and i liked it 🤷‍♂️ fucked up families where you get multiple POVs and learn how their shared family history leads to their individual personal struggles are my jam
the mysterious study of doctor sex & as yet unsent - tamsyn muir ★★★★☆ (scifi)
read (dr sex) and reread (ays) of the two locked tomb short stories. i liked as yet unsent quite a lot more but I’d never complain about more sixth house
delilah green doesn’t care - ashley herring blake ★★★★☆ (romance)
the romance was fine for me but this book does have a very uptight perfectionist bitchy side character whose name is astrid and i LOVED her. i am actually excited to read the second book in a romance series because she is the protag for the next one!!
a master of djinn - p. djèlí clark ★★★☆☆ (historical fantasy)
a book that was truly The Most 3 stars. so completely fine that i kind of wish i’d DNF’d it. the actual plot/mystery was poorly constructed but the world-building was beautiful and generally made up for it
night sky with exit wounds - ocean vuong ★★★☆☆ (poetry)
ehh, i just didn’t connect much with this one personally. some good wordplay and i highlighted a few lines but it was just alright
the vegetarian - han kang ★★★☆☆ (horror)
this book was so hard for me to a) finish and b) meaningfully review. there are three segments that are pretty distinct from each other and i found the first two brutally miserable to read for different reasons, but the book definitely does cohere, so i’m sure other people would get a lot from it
the flatshare - beth o’leary ★★★☆☆ (romance)
i’m a bad romance reader and i’m sorry to all of my friends who thought this was the cutest shit ever. the female main character had no genuine personality traits and the male main character didn’t grow a single bit and i have no clue why they even like each other beyond each of them being an upgrade from their exes. but i do see the concept and understand why romance likers would have fun with this book. it’s just not me tho!
wider than the sky - katherine field Rothschild ★★☆☆☆ (contemporary)
the blurb lured me in with promises that it was about an adult polyam relationship and how that relationship changed the family but instead i just read a terrible YA contemporary with a super unlikable main character who was just dealing with “normal” high school shit the entire time and for some reason even though her dad was polyamorous i still had to deal with an awfully written love triangle
unprecedented: canada’s top ceos on leadership during covid-19 ★★★☆☆ (non-fiction)
i got this book for work and read a couple of sections before donating it. mostly it was just similar to internal messaging but it was more political than i was expecting at points. ehhh

Your post about Miguel being a chubby chaser literally changed me because you're so fucking right. Honestly it just made me really happy, it's the first time I've seen someone headcanon a mainstream character I'm really into as being attracted to my body type and it just feels so right for him too, I can't see him any other way now. Like damn I know he'd be obsessedddd too, the way I'm 4'11, built thick with big titties and my lil belly, like he'd eat that shit uppp 💖
NO BCUS HE SOOO WOULD??? u gave me an idea bby hold the phonee
Tumblr media
i touched on chubby chaser miguel a lil bit but let's really dive in and dig deep. he's feral, like a moth to a flame, when it comes to chubby women. he loves when you wear crop tops or anything tight or revealing.
not because he's a pervert (he is), but because loves seeing you. like, all of you. he loves seeing your curves, your thighs, your rolls, your stretch marks, everything.
let's imagine the first time he sees you. let's say it's at the spider headquarters. he's doing what he does, brooding and bossing people around, maybe the occasional empanada break here and there, until he's notified by jess that she brought a new recruit in. of course his first reaction was to be annoyed.
she didn't even let him know beforehand, to let someone new in so quickly too? he had to meet them.
his thoughts were negative and annoyed like they usually were when new recruits joined. that is until he saw you, at least.
you were breathtaking, for lack of a better term. you were so small, so much smaller compared to him, but your presence and the way you carried yourself were huge. you walked up to him with your head held high, shoulders back, and eyes sharp.
you made him feel nervous. the way you looked at him made his knees feel weak. your aura had overflowing confidence that could've put pavitr to shame.
and don't even get him started on your looks.
miguel took your appearance in. the rolls that peeked through in your spider suit, your plump lips, the chub of your cheeks, all of it appealed to him so deliciously. where have you been all his life?
'what's her name?' he asked jess, not wanting to make eye contact with you in fear of stuttering or making himself look stupid. jess chuckled, noticing the way miguel stood a good two feet away from you. jess opened her mouth to speak, but you beat her to it.
'i'm right here, y'know? you can just ask me'. you chided with your arms crossed. miguel swallowed, his eyes flickering around from place to place before looking at you and catching your eyes.
'what is... what's your name?' he asked, his voice in a grumble. your brows furrowed at the lack of inviting tone. 'it's (name), (name) (last name). next time ask me instead of being so moody'.
your words seemed to have caught miguel by surprise, as he stopped looking at you and looked away his mouth slightly agape. you took this as a nice victory against the moody man and walked away with jess, who laughed with you about what had just happened.
he didn't say a word. he didn't groan, mumble under his breath, or even snarl. he just watched you leave with jess. he watched the way your hips swayed, he watched the way your rolls moved in your suit, he watched the way your thighs rubbed together. he watched it all.
an arm slung around his shoulder. the soft pink material rubbing against miguel gave him a strong idea that it was his reluctant friend peter. 'she's really something, right? found her myself in earth-189!'
miguel didn't respond right away. he just watched you and the motion of your body as you took a seat next to margo, pointing a soft finger at the monitor the young girl was in front of.
'she's really...', miguel takes a breath, hiding the creeping smile on his lips, 'something special'.

books i read in feb 2022
Tumblr media
[these are all short + casual reviews - feel free to msg me and ask   about individual ones if u want a full review or ask for my goodreads!!]
ok the caleb widogast comic technically gets first place this month as the only 5* but it’s blorbo from my shows syndrome so i’m gonna feature the baru review instead
the traitor baru cormorant - seth dickinson ★★★★☆ (fantasy)
i’ve shilled AMCE for months so here’s a hard fantasy book that has the same core: what does it mean to be one person against an empire that has already conquered the world? baru cormorant is an accountant instead of an ambassador-poet, and that alone already outlines most of the differences (genre, plot, tone) between the two books. seth dickinson has a writing style that feels textbook-detailed in one moment and fascinatingly oblique in the next - this is a book i’m already looking forward to rereading because i’m sure i’ll get so much more out of it the second time around
critical role: the mighty nein origins: caleb widogast - jody houser ★★★★★ (fantasy)
it’s my guy. it’s my dude on the comic book page
to build a fire - jack london ★★★★☆ (survival short story)
don’t think too hard about this but dying of hypothermia is one of those things that i just really enjoy reading about. i used to love reading survival adventure books as a kid and i should get back into that
giving an account of oneself - judith butler ★★★★☆ (critical theory)
read judith butler for fun to convince myself to do a phd, the challenge. anyway this was actually pretty good - i remember thinking butler’s writing was very dense while reading for school but tbh i didn’t find this that hard to get through. interesting ideas, and i’ll especially take some of the language for defining the self via the other. it’s something i’ve always thought about but never quite known how to express
everything i never told you - celeste ng ★★★★☆ (contemporary)
i rly think this book should be advertised as a thriller (and a good one!) it felt a little too “neat” overall and could’ve used some subtlety, but it was an enjoyable read
the indifferent stars above - daniel brown ★★★☆☆ (narrative nonfiction)
maybe narrative nonfiction fundamentally doesn’t work for me and i’d rather the author choose one or the other. some of those narrative bits really hit though! this was a hard book to read because like damn. those were real people
lore olympus: volume one - rachel smythe ★★★☆☆ (mythology, retelling, graphic novel)
the art is pretty cute but i just didn’t really. care. but it’s cute tho
you are eating an orange. you are naked - sheung-king ★★★☆☆ (contemporary, autofiction)
our narrator has personality traits that i unfortunately find really annoying! the last chapter is the best because it shifts perspectives and feels more focused than the rest. i do like the poetic prose style
the falling girls - hayley krischer ★★★☆☆ (YA thriller)
the pacing of this book felt off and i struggled to understand why any of these characters hang around each other but the author did nail a lot of little details about being a teenage girl. good concept, clumsy execution
one last stop - casey mcquiston ★★☆☆☆ (romance)
literally the last eight pages of this book ruined it so much and i’m so salty LOL without those last eight pages it’s maybe a 3.5*? it suffers from a lot of the usual contemporary romance pitfalls (why is everyone just so quirky) but it’s also very heartfelt and very much about how love uplifts all. it should’ve ended eight pages earlier though if it wanted to be a good book

books i read in nov 2021
Tumblr media
[these are all short + casual reviews - feel free to msg me and ask   about individual ones if u want a full review or ask for my goodreads!!]
is that a poetry collection at the top of my rankings?? did i find it through a quotation i found on tumblr?? you bet it is and you bet i did.
also as a fun fact i rated every single book i read this month 3 or 4 stars 🤷‍♂️
postcolonial love poem - natalie diaz ★★★★☆ (poetry)
beautiful collection and i especially loved the variance in form. the collection has its central themes but each piece feels unique and new all the way until the end. i wish i was better at picking out poetry to read because when it hits, it definitely hits!!
iron widow - xiran jay zhao ★★★★☆ (YA fantasy)
this reads like a mishmash of multiple midtier animes but it’s so much fun and easy to get swept away in. also the love triangle resolves in the best way possible
the library at mount char - scott hawkins ★★★★☆ (fantasy)
something about this book is delightfully unhinged. it’s the extreme violence hand-in-hand with outrageous humour that still leads to tenderness. i finished reading this book at like 3:30am while sick and unable to sleep and it’s haunted me since
exit strategy - martha wells ★★★★☆ (scifi, novella)
finally a return to the cast that made murderbot so lovable in the first novella. i was so so excited to be back with these characters and there was one scene in particular that was just so cute 🥺
home: habitat, range, niche, territory - martha wells ★★★★☆ (scifi, short story)
i actually read this short story before i read anything else murderbot, and found it pretty comprehensible, which i completely stand by on reread. excellent short story that stands on its own merits but does a lot of work in the series by giving us the non-murderbot perspective
into the wild - erin hunter ★★★★☆ (fantasy)
i was obsessed with these books as a kid and wanted to do a reread. it held up well! the plot and characters were more complex than i remembered/expected. it did however kill me inside that the cats always use the dialogue tag “meowed” instead of “said” because that sure is not invisible
the ones who walk away from omelas - ursula k le guin ★★★★☆ (fantasy, short story)
classic short story that i’ve held dear ever since i first heard about it. the premise itself is the interesting bit; the writing itself didn’t particularly stand out
that weekend - kara thomas ★★★★☆ (YA thriller)
my friend spoiled this book for me and i was still surprised. rarely does a thriller manage to wring so much shock/anger from me so i have to give this one props! none of the characters are cartoonishly evil, they’re just awful/selfish people who can’t see beyond themselves, and i think that makes the best kind of thriller
we were liars - e lockhart ★★★☆☆ (YA thriller)
the ending was kind of bullshit and felt thematically disconnected from the rest of the book but i have to admit i read this entire book in an afternoon so clearly it was engaging enough
frying plantain - zalika reid-benta ★★★☆☆ (contemporary, short stories)
the main character was so annoying to me but it was still written well. i’d be curious to learn why the author insists it’s a collection of short stories and not a novel when it reads like a novel
the killing moon - n k jemisin ★★★☆☆ (fantasy)
ok i really need to just read the broken earth trilogy instead of reading everything around it because it’s turning me off of jemisin’s writing. this book reads almost entirely like set-up for a conflict yet to come - it takes forever for our main character to buy in to the central idea of the novel and then it’s resolved in a ridiculously simplistic way. the world is so interesting and richly developed and deserves far more interesting characters and plots.

books i read in march 2022
Tumblr media
[these are all short + casual reviews - feel free to msg me and ask   about individual ones if u want a full review or ask for my goodreads!!]
this was SUCH a good reading month both in quantity and quality!! three 5*s! 13 books! we love and cherish a good reading month 🥰
she who became the sun - shelley parker-chan ★★★★★ (historical fantasy)
one of the easiest five stars i’ve ever given!! give me infinitely more genderless, nameless, insanely hungry and morally gray characters like zhu. give me infinitely more perfectly balanced, extremely toxic, relentlessly interesting trifectas like ouyang/esen/baoxiang!! i enjoyed the character-driven plot a lot and i’m so excited for the second book to come out 🤩
jade legacy - fonda lee ★★★★★ (urban fantasy) jade war - fonda lee ★★★★★ (urban fantasy)
the green bone saga didn’t change my life in the lightning strike way that some books do, but it felt like taking the deepest breath in for hundreds of pages and then slowly, slowly letting it out. such an incredibly satisfying read! fonda lee’s writing is insanely good; the way she crafts her characters and her world feels so detailed and real. i love the “slow burn action” style that follows our protags over years of their lives. definitely an exemplar of the urban fantasy genre and i’m so eager to read anything else by fonda lee now!
indian horse - richard wagamese ★★★★☆ (historical)
god this was actually heart-crushing. this was one of those books that really slams home how the nature of history and the nature of stories is that they can't be changed. not a single line in this book was surprising - i’ve read a lot of similar canadian lit - but wow did richard wagamese deliver the story well
beautiful world, where are you - sally rooney ★★★★☆ (contemporary)
i’ve been sold on sally rooney. this was a miserably relatable and realistic book. even if you don’t see yourself in the main characters of her book, surely you know someone who does. it’s so exhausting reading characters that are so close to being us! a surprise highlight of the book for me were the ruminations on god - they were beautiful and touching
deaf republic - ilya kaminsky ★★★★☆ (poetry)
this was lovely and haunting, but most of the highlights from this have already been circulated endlessly on social media
false witness - karin slaughter ★★★☆☆ (thriller)
this was a surprisingly thoughtful thriller. i can’t think of another book in the genre that has such a compassionate depiction of trauma. parts of the book dragged but i was impressed overall. i should look up more karin slaughter!
bloodchild and other stories - octavia e butler ★★★☆☆ (sci fi collection)
this had an interesting format where butler gave an afterword on each of the stories and essays in this collection. the curated short stories were all quite interesting; the essays and new short stories were dull. i learned that butler and i do not really see eye on eye on what her stories “mean” lmao
how high we go in the dark - sequoia nagamatsu (sci fi)
this was an interesting concept that was ruined by the last few segments. nagamatsu has some lovely writing but the book just mostly felt trite, especially after two years of the pandemic. this might’ve been a good book if it was released in 2019 instead of 2022?
the maid - nita prose ★★★☆☆ (mystery)
this was fun! the POV character reads more like a gimmick than a fully realized person, which is a shame. i’d love to read a more thoughtful version of this book, but it was still engaging enough that i read it all in one sitting
summer son - lee mandelo ★★☆☆☆ (fantasy horror)
the entire plot happened to the main character while he fucked around and complained, which made this a really frustrating book to read. every side character was more interesting than our pov who suffers greatly from main character syndrome
in my dreams i hold a knife - ashley winstead ★★☆☆☆ (thriller)
i hate protags who have no self-respect. most of the characters were just one or two tropes stacked on top of each other and the reveal was not very thrilling
the seep - chana porter ★☆☆☆☆ (sci fi)
this book read so childish and i refuse to give the time of day to stories that insist pain and suffering is what makes us human!
