(( Sometimes I wonder if there would ever come a point where Miranda might end up with body dysmorphia due to the relationship she has with landfolk. As in, she's often intensely and forcibly aware of how different she is, and how not only how this means she has to interact with the world differently, but in how people treat her differently as well. There are points where she sincerely feels like she can't be heard and where people won't even try to bridge the gap between her and them. Points where she can't help but blame both her body and where she comes from for reasons why she keeps feeling hurt.

Which might be one thing if she was living among other merfolk still, but she's not. She's a member of a hypersocial species with a strong urge to socialize and make connections, and the only connections that she has are those that are poorly suited for her needs. And sometimes I wonder at what point it gets too much for her.
