“That doesn’t sound very good.” He glanced over at him. “What are you planning on happening that you’d need to blame the tequila?” He’s not sure where this is going and if he should be excited or worried. He hadn’t seen Barry drunk before although he was pretty sure a friend of his had at least once.

They are coming back from a mission and he’s finally got service on his phone now that they aren’t in this dead spot they were in. He’s not expecting a lot of messages. This is his personal phone and not many are texting him at any given time. So he’s definitely surprised when Kara had sent a text. He had thought she was busy this weekend. At least. they had talked about it and she was.

Still he’s excited to open it. Sometimes she sends pictures of the people at work, her family, even selfies. Makes his day. And sometimes it’s other things and this is one of those times. Tony’s left the jet on autopilot and everyone’s sitting around. Except Tony’s in his ear about something as he’s opening the message and he’s telling him to go away. But he wants to read it and he’s not going to do that. So he pushes him into his own seat. “No.”

And that’s when he really gets to look at the picture and immediately, he wishes he was a. at home, and b. alone because he has a lot of thoughts about this. And his body apparently does as well.

He wishes that he could say that he ate healthy snacks. But he had been unable to eat so much before the serum that after he had tried as much as he could. Something that had transferred to the present day. Although, he worked out to offset things and he had an incredibly fast metabolism. 

He hated the latter sometimes though given it meant that alcohol had no effect on him which was incredibly cruel since beforehand it would make him so ill. Ill to where he couldn’t even enjoy a drink. Now when he wanted to unwind, he couldn’t even feel the effects at all.

“I can’t say that I’ve had a lot of kale chips.” To be fair, he wasn’t sure if he had ever had them at all. Tony was always eating around the lab. But it was usually blueberries to his knowledge that he kept throwing in his mouth or at Steve. “Crispy things though, I can get on board with that.”

It’s not a point that is lost on him. They have been taken hostage and this isn’t ideal for anyone that is involved. He would much rather be having a burger and a milkshake in a diner, somewhere, safe from people who wanted him and present company dead. 

He took a soft breath as he took a glance around the room which was as he took it in something else. A warehouse perhaps though the lighting was awful. He knew that to be on purpose. The less you could see in these situations, the better in their opinion, because how would you escape?

“Looks like we have some time.” Obviously they had nothing but time until they could get out of this or find a way to get help from others to do that. “Do you know what they want?”

No lying allowed. Truthfully, he kept things from people, but he didn't feel like he outright lied unless it was necessary. Still, Kara and Barry, were both options in this situation. "Right, well--every time I play this game I mention I hate the word smash. But I end up sounding more awkward when I try to dance around it. So there is that."

A pause for a moment. "I'd smash." Yeah cringe worthy. "Barry. I just think Barry's kind of oblivious to the fact that I would." He hummed for a moment. "And I'd also do the same for Kara."

“No.” He had never been one to run from a fight. He wasn’t about to start now. Maybe some would just leave and save themselves. Steve wasn’t going to do that. He either won or he went down fighting. That was all there was to it. “The time for saving myself is long gone. We either both make it out of here or no one does. That’s it.”

He had high standards for himself, sure. Standards he didn’t enforce on anyone else. Hell, he’d once told Wanda they couldn’t save everyone. He just believed he was supposed to. “You got a plan or do I need to think one up on the fly?”

Great. She didn’t remember where she was or how she had gotten there. There had been the fear when they’d pulled her from the area they had found her in. It had been some sort of chemical released into the air. Admittedly, the first thought had been the fear gas that Tony had known about from knowing Bruce personally. It hadn’t been that and it was clear it was something else that didn’t make you fearful or eventually turn you insane. Just took your memories. How far back were they erased? Good question.

“You’re somewhere safe. I’m Steve. Steve Rogers and the rest of my team are around. I don’t know how much you remember. It’s clear you don’t remember coming here. Do you know your name?”
