Sometimes, Yennefer felt like she looked at Geralt for just a moment too long. Heβd be doing something and her eyes would drift from what she was doing, and then theyβd just LINGER. She just hoped that he didnβt know how often that happened, because then sheβd have to explain it and explained meant admitting she did it. So, catch her completely caught off guard when she glanced over and his eyes looked up and she hadnβt looked away yet.
Well...now sheβd have some explaining to do...

Yennefer wondered sometimes if she should be as attached to Aevon as she was, but it was hard not to become endeared to her. The young elven child was too cute for her own good, and yet Yennefer knew she made the same choices with her sometimes as she made with Ciri. Sometimes, Yennefer was a little hard on the people that she loved, but she knew that Aevon could handle even her potential TEMPER. The young girl was a very quick study, and Yennefer enjoyed her company.
βOkay, this time...try to lift the log a little...β

Yennefer felt like nine times out of ten, she had to drag Jaskier out of bed when she needed him and while heβd always come when she asked...she still couldnβt stop herself.Β βYouβre not a morning person, are you, Jaskier?β she asked him, pulling the curtains apart so that the sun streamed in, just in case it took that much more to get him up.Β βDo you need to get some more beauty sleep, or can you get up and help me...?β

Yennefer had to admit that sometimes she was a little...DEMANDING...but when it came to Geralt, she didnβt know how to not be that way. Be it for affection, help, or something else, she tended to steal his attention whenever she could. At the moment, she needed something, but it didnβt mean she wasnβt going to TEASE as she asked.
βGeralt...β The way she said his name was gentle yet firm, and she smirked a little.Β βWhatever youβre doing right now is able to be paused...yes...?β

SEND βRECALLβ FOR MY MUSE TO BE FORCED TO OPEN UP TO YOURS ABOUT SOMETHING FROM THEIR PAST - @nothingherebutlightββ said: βRECALL - for Istreddβ
βThere was a time when my mother actually loved me--at least I think that she did.β Yennefer explained.Β βShe would check on me in the middle of the night when I had nightmares. She spoke to me like I was normal, and not a child with a crooked spine and jaw. Sometimes she even stood up to my father when he beat me, or tried to get me to do things that I wasnβt physically prepared to do. However, the moment he LEFT? Something in her changed. I was no longer her child, but the reason that her marriage had failed.β
The sorceress tried extremely hard not to talk about things in her past--especially things that would paint her in a light where someone might pity her--so why she was opening up now, to Istredd, she had no idea. At the same time, it was something that had been plaguing her as of late and who better than Istredd, who had known her before her transformation?
βShe made me feel like I was the exact disgusting and pitiful creature that she had once loved. You were the one that helped me to see the real girl inside.β In more ways than one, but she had long forgiven him for anything he might have done that hurt her. The same way she hoped that he had forgiven her for the horrible things she had said and done to him. Part of hurting each other had helped them to GROW, but it didnβt make it hurt LESS. βIβm hard on the people that I care about...but I never want to become my mother.β In fact if someone so much as touched a hair on Ciriβs head in any negative way, Yennefer would kill them.Β βYou know that I care about you...donβt you?β

Sometimes it felt as if Yennefer spent too much time in the woods, but that was where she could get ingredients for spells and potions and glamours, and it was where she sometimes had to fight things. Today, was a gathering kind of day, but she wasnβt the only one that was out there. No, when she had gotten out there today, with her cloak up and her thoughts only on ingredients, she ran into someone else out there.
βSon of a...β Yennefer began, shaking her head at them.Β βYouβre lucky I didnβt hurt you!β She told him as she took a breath.Β βWhat are you doing out here all alone...?β

Yennefer found herself feeling a lot safer every time she saw Vis in the halls of Aretuza. She wasnβt always the happiest there, but she knew that she could trust him no matter what happened, so he put her at ease. That was kind of a rare thing in Yenneferβs life, mainly because the list of people she trusted explicitly, she could count on one hand.
βGood morning, Vis. Is your morning going acceptably?β

Random Asks - @caelmeweddβ said:Β βThe little elven girl sat in her room trying magic with little success. She knew she had magical abilities, but all she could do with magic was to heal simple wounds. She heard many stories from her father, a powerful sage who saw other worlds. She also wanted to move to another place, maybe even meet another person who likes magic. She closed her eyes, concentrating very hard on imagining the place where she would like to be, felt her reach to the source of her older power and felt something thrashing wildly with her and landing on something...soft? She opened her eyes and found that she was lying on the bed, gently turned her head and looked at the sleeping, beautiful raven haired woman who opened her violet eyes.
βUhmm...Hello. I'm so sorry, my lady." The little elf whispered softly, feeling that the raven-haired woman was also a mage. She didn't want to wake her up. This was not the place she wanted to be at all. "I didn't want to disturb you. I swear it.β
Yennefer was not sure what was happening, but she had been roused from her sleep from a young girl. She wasnβt sure where she had come from, or what she wanted, but she was STARTLED to say the least. The mage felt herself violently lurch away from the little girl, on the alert for a moment because who in the world was she?! What was she doing just showing up and giving her a heart attack?! Her jolt couldnβt have made the little girl feel any better either, because she was clutching her chest and trying to regain each breath in and out.
βWhat in the world?β she asked suddenly, sitting up straighter.Β βDidnβt your parents ever teach you not to just pop into peopleβs bedrooms? Itβs a DANGEROUS habit to get into...β Her tone was stern, but her violet eyes softened as she looked her over.Β βWhat is your name?β

When it came to MONSTERS, Yennefer knew a thing or two, but for her, monsters came in different shapes than most people saw. In this case, the man had gotten what he had deserved when heβd attacked her first. She was far from helpless, the woman before Yennefer, and honestly? Yennefer didnβt care that she was what others would call a monster. She had been considered a monster herself for so very long.
βHe was an asshole,β Yennefer spoke, motioning to the body before them.Β βSaw him bother a girl the other night and used magic to burn his hand on a mug. Should have poked his eyes out instead but...you seem to have the situation handled...β

Yennefer had found herself in a bar, not even caring what kind of bar it was because she just needed ALCOHOL. She wanted to wash down the day with some whiskey or absinthe--or really anything that would help her nerves. While she was good at it, dealing with narcissistic world leaders took a toll on her.
βIβll have whatever is the STRONGEST,β she told the bar keep, shaking her head.Β βThe day Iβve had, I think itβs deserved.β

Sitting down at the large table in the main hall, Yennefer made sure to seat herself directly across from Eskel so that he knew she was PURPOSEFULLYΒ talking to him. CoΓ«n and Ciri were talking a little ways off, and Lambert? Well, thatβs why Yennefer was taking refuge right now with Eskel while Geralt and Lambert talked with Vesemir.
βIf you were looking to get back at Lambert, what would you do?β Not that the Witcher would rat out his friend, but Yennefer had her fingers crossed.

Being in the forest was a good way for Yennefer to try to drown things out and focus on herself for a change, but she also found herself running into a whole manner of things out here. The forest was like a breeding ground for even the best kind of monsters, so one had to be on their toes. She found the being on your toes part especially true when she found herself coming to a tree with a girl in it...but she didnβt look like a monster.
βThis place isnβt exactly the SAFEST, you know...or are you lurking in the trees to have an advantage over your enemy?β

Yennefer wasnβt sure how she felt about Rand just yet, but it was clear that he was a no-nonsense kind of person and Yennefer? She was filled to the brim with nonsense in so many ways. Usually she didnβt tolerate it from others, but she definitely oozed such when she wanted something bad enough and knew she could get it.
βYouβre an ODD fellow...has anyone ever told you that?β Yennefer asked him suddenly, having been studying him since she had run across him.
Honestly, she was still trying to place him in her box in her head of people she had run across in her travels. He didnβt seem hostile, but she had yet to figure out if she was also being annoying enough that he wouldnβt end up that way. Sometimes, Yennefer of Vengerberg pushed absolutely the wrong buttons.

There were a lot of things that could make Yennefer of Vengerberg think twice, even if she didnβt let on that that was something that happened to her, but nothing made her feel WORSE than being blind. It wasnβt even exactly how it had happened that made her feel bad, but the fact that there were things she couldnβt do when she was in this state.
βYouβre as bad as Geralt--I can hear you breathing,β Yennefer told Ciri as she managed to maneuver herself around the room. At least Ciri was one of the few people that would baby Yennefer in this state, but it still bothered her that she couldnβt see those green eyes, or read the emotions on her face.Β βDo you need something my little duckling?β

It was the way that the words fell out of his mouth that made Yennefer pause her movements. Of course he could have been talking about anyone if one was being a stickler for the details, but her thoughts immediately went to Ciri. Yennefer had thought nothing of her at first, other than a thought here and there about how powerful she could become. However, watching her had become second nature to Yennefer now.
She just wanted her safe.
βThere was a time when you wouldnβt have thought that.β She looked at Geralt for a moment, studying his movements before she spoke again.Β βYou wonβt lose her. I may not be the most maternal or kind, but Iβd like to think Iβm at least PROTECTIVE. I wouldnβt wish a childhood like ours on anyone, let alone on her.β

Fingers gripped at the book in her hand, knuckles white as she applied pressure. Yennefer couldnβt read a single word on the pages, but holding the books made her feel better somehow. It also made her feel FRUSTRATED. That was why she was gripping the binding of the book so hard--she couldnβt make out the words.
How were you supposed to be able to put a spell together when you couldnβt even see the instructions before you? Sometimes Yennefer felt like the world was punishing her for something that she had done, but she couldnβt stand it. This was torture. However, at least her other senses were playing catch-up, so to speak, so she could hear much better than before, and touch? Well, touch meant EVERYTHING.
βI hope youβre not trying to sneak up on me--you have heavy footsteps...β
