Y/n nervously sat in her car outside the restaurant— nothing super fancy as she had asked thankfully. He had already told her he was inside, she was just trying to calm down, finally gathering herself, grabbing her bag, and walking inside. Telling the host she was meeting someone before they led her to the table.

Jeongin had set his phone down on the table as she joined him. “Hey.”

“Hi,” Y/n offered a smile as she sat down across from him.

“How are you doing?” He asked

“Okay? Kind of nervous honestly.” Y/n grabbed the cup of water in front of her and took a sip.

“Let's order then we can talk about it. How does that sound?”

Y/n agreed and picked up her menu. Scanning over the items for a few minutes before the waiter came over. Both putting in their orders and giving their menu’s to the waiter before they walked off. Sitting in an awkward silence for another minute.

“I’m not getting rid of the baby.” Y/n finally stated after a moment.

“I wasn’t going to make you,” Jeongin confirmed, “I know it was a one night stand and we barely know each other but I do want to at the very least co-parent this kid.”

“I can work with that,” Y/n nodded

Jeongin nodded, silence taking over the table again, “What do you do for work?” He asked

“I’m an editor for a online news outlet.”

“You work with Seungmin, right?”

“Yeah. We were in a lot of the same classes in college but weren’t friends until after graduation and we ended up at the same company.”

“Same department?”

“No. He works more in reporting and journalism. I’ve edited a couple of the stories they’ve let him published.”

“He hasn’t published a lot?”

“No, (Astird)’s case was actually the first one they let him take on his own.”

“They didn’t think he was going to be bias on it?”

“I don’t think he told his boss she was his roommate. But even when I was editing it, you could barely tell he knew her. He’s very unbiased in reporting which is a good trait to have,” Y/n explained as her phone went off on the table next to her

Jihyun ❌: why aren’t you home? I know its your day off

“Everything okay?” Jeongin asked

“Yeah, just a friend texting me,” Y/n brushed it off

“Do any of your friends know about you being pregnant?”

“Just my friend Hana, the one who was with me at the club.”

Jihyun ❌: Y/n

“Do any of your friends know?” “I may have told all of them?”

“How many is all?”

“Five.”

Y/n nodded

Jihyun ❌: when the hell did you turn your location off? answer me

“Do you need to take that?” Jeongin asked, seeing the constant light up of her phone from the text.

“No. It’s just me ex. He can deal with it?”

“When did you guys break up?”

“Almost a month ago. Hana ended up dragging me to a club to just get my mind off it.”

“Ah. So I was a rebound fuck,” Jeongin joked and it definetly made her laugh a bit.

“If you wanna look at it like that,” Y/n said, “I was more so looking to get drunk till I forgot but drunk me also is horny.”

“Bad break up then?”

“Yeah. It’s over now though.”

“Good for you,” Jeongin smiled

“So, how are we gonna work out appointments and stuff?” Y/n asked, changing the subject

“I would like to be there for them but if you don’t want me there that’s fine. I also can already tell I might not be able to make it to all of them with work.”

“You own you’re company, right?”

“Yeah. There’s certain meetings I can’t get out of.”

“I can try and schedule them as best I can to avoid that but I can always update you afterwards if it doesn’t work out.”

“That works out for me.”

The waiter came back with their food and they both thanked them before eating. Other small talk continued throughout the meal, some regarding their lives, others regarding the baby. Jeongin paid at the end of the meal, walking out with her.

“Don’t be afraid the text me if you need anything, okay?” He told her, walking her over to her car

“I will, thank you,” Y/n said, unlocking her car.

Jeongin opened the door for her, “I mean anything. Even if it’s a weird pregnancy craving in the middle of the night.”

The two of them laughed as she set her bag down on the passenger seat. “I will.” Y/n assured him and took her seat.

Jeongin closed her door and waved her off as he walked to his own car. Y/n took out her phone, wanting to text her friend the good news till she remembered the messages— with new ones.

“I’m here,” Y/n breathed as she approached the building

“Okay. There’s a parking garage next to the building. Park in there. i gave the building management your car description so they shouldn’t say anything about you parking here.”

“Alright.”

Y/n followed his instructions and found a spot to park.

“I’m gonna meet you in the lobby. can you get over there for me?”

“Yeah. can you stay on the phone?”

“of course.”

Y/n switched her phone off the car stereo and turned off her car. She grabbed her stuff and got out of her car. making her way towards the door where it said “LOBBY”

She could hear Jeongin on the over end with Deiji; could even hear the little coos and babbles.

“Astrid and ji are almost here by the way. should be another ten minutes till they get Deiji. Have you eaten dinner yet?”

“No. I was trying to figure out what to eat when Jihyun texted me…”

“Okay. We’ll order dinner. You can stay over in my guest room so you don’t have to go home.”

“You don’t have to do that for me,” y/n said, opening the door and entering the lobby

“Y/n, you’re creating a whole human inside of you. The least I can do is buy you food and give you a sense of safety.”

She heard an elevator ding before she saw the doors opening and Jeongin walking out with a baby girl in his arms. he ended the call and quickly made his way over to her. y/n met him halfway and wrapped her arms around him.

“You’re okay,” Jeongin said as he held her against him.

“Thank you,” Y/n muttered

“Come on,” Jeongin ushered her towards the elevators and took her up to his unit. getting her settled on the couch as soon as they got in.

Jeongin put Deiji down in one of the stand-up toys and sat with Y/n

“Still shaken up?” he asked

“Yeah,” y/n sighed

“Does he have your location?”

“No. I turned it off when we broke up.”

“Still texting you?”

“Don’t know. ended up muting the conversation.”

“Can I see?”

Y/n nodded and handed him her unlocked phone. Jeongin took it from her hand.

“Sorry. That was the only thing I could think of,” Jeongin sighed

“It’s fine,” Y/n sniffled

“Come here,” Jeongin pulled her into his arms.

Y/n wrapped her arms around him and hid herself in his chest. “I’m sorry…”

“You don’t need to be sorry,” Jeongin told her.

Y/n buried her face in Jeongin’s chest as Deiji hit one of her toys. The baby toys filled the silence as Jeongin did his best to comfort the mother of his child. A knock at the door interrupted it.

Y/n jumped a bit and Jeongin checked his phone. Seeing the texts from his two friends that they were there. “Just Ji and (Astrid).”

Jeongin unraveled himself from her and got the door. Letting his two friends inside. Y/n said hi to the couple and (Astrid) checked on her. Jisung grabbed his daughter and the diaper bag.

The two didn’t stay long, letting the new soon-to-be-parents be. Jeongin locked the door and walked back over to the couch. Settling back down next to her and grabbed his phone, “Dinner?”

“‘M not hungry…”

“You don’t have to eat it right away, but you need to eat,” Jeongin said

Y/n nodded in response. Jeongin quickly ordered something he knew she’d eat before pulling her back into his arms.

“You’re good at taking care of people,” Y/n said

“Can thank (Astird) for that,” Jeongin said

“So she told me. Putting you through hell,” Y/n said

“Yeah. But I wouldn't change anything in my life.”

“Even us sleeping together and getting pregnant?”

“No. I wouldn’t change it.”

The two sat on the couch— only getting up to eat which Jeongin was proud he got her to do when the food got there. Ending up with her laying back against him, his hands rubbing her belly. A random Netflix show playing on the TV. Y/n looked down at his fingers gently drumming on her belly. For a moment, living in a little fantasy that they were a little family.

“You okay?” Jeongin asked

“Yeah,” Y/n nodded, not realizing she started crying

“Why are you crying?” Jeongin sat up more

“Don’t know,” Y/n said, wiping away the tears.

Jeongin grabbed the box of tissues from the coffee table and handed it to her. Y/n thanked him and wiped away the tears more as he rubbed her back. “You want to talk about it?”

“No.” Y/n shook her head

“What do you need?”

“Think I just need to sleep.”

Jeongin nodded and helped her up from the couch. Leading her down the hallway of the penthouse to the guest room. “Text me if you need anything. Okay? And I’m just over there if I don't reply.”

“Thanks,” Y/n smiled and walked into the room. She closed the door behind her and sat on the bed.

Y/n sighed and set her phone on the nightstand and crawled under the covers of the bed. Trying to get some sleep but she was too worried to sleep. Eventually giving up and walking down the hallway to Jeongin’s room. The door was opened and he wasn’t inside so she wandered out to the living room.

The TV was still playing while he was sitting on the couch with his phone. He looked over as he heard her walking in. “Thought you were sleeping.”

“Tried, can’t.”

“You wanna talk?”

Y/n nodded and sat next to him, “Do you think I can stay for the week? just the whole thing with—“

“Yeah. That’s fine. I can take you to get some stuff from your place tomorrow,” Jeongin answered

“Thank you,” Y/n smiled

“Something else bugging you?”

“Yeah, but nothing for you to worry about.”

“I’m going to worry either way.”

“Just, earlier when i was crying, i got in my head for second about us being a real family. And then i remembered we weren’t together and I always thought when I got pregnant I'd be in a relationship and getting to have a family.”

“And it’s hurting you’re not?”

“Just a little. That’s not on you though. we agreed to co-parent and that’s that. I think it just hurts more because I’m actually starting to like you in a romantic sense but—“

Jeongin nodded, “What if we tried?”

“In, you don’t —“

“I wouldn’t offer if I didn’t feel the same, Y/n.”

“Huh?”

“Okay,” Jeonging turned to face her, “I’d be an idiot not to admit I thought you were pretty when we were at S-class, even though we were drunk and didn’t remember anything. I’d also be dumb not to say I’ve thought about us as a family, dating and raising a kid. My family already likes you, which is a bonus. I’m not saying I'm in love because this is all fresh and it doesn’t feel like we’re there, but I do like you as more than a friend or someone I'm raising a kid with.”

Y/n looked at him, tears welling in her eyes before she leaned for and wrapped her arms around him. Jeongin wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer. “I know you're dealing with your ex but my offer is going to stay as long as we have the baby.”

“I wanna try,” Y/n said as she pulled away from the hug, “I’m tired of Jihyun holding onto my life when he fucks it up. I wanna move on from that.”

“We’ll go slow then, not rush anything.”

“Okay,” Y/n nodded as Jeongin wiped her tears

“Okay,” Jeongin answered, “How about we get some sleep and go out for breakfast in the morning after getting some stuff from your place.”

“I’d like that.”

“Come on,” Jeongin helped her up again

“Can you… stay with me? maybe?” Y/n asked

“Yeah.”

Jeongin led her to his room and let her get the bed before him. Jeongin climbed into the bed behind her and wrapped an arm around her, laying his hand on her growing stomach. Y/n smiled to herself as she laid her hand over his and closed her eyes.

Nervous was the only thing to describe what Jeongin was feeling as he drove him and y/n to his family home. He did call his parents and ask to talk to them earlier in the week. He sat down and explained the whole situation to them. The talk went well enough — he was still alive. Now he was driving her over to the home for dinner.

Y/n didn’t seem as nervous as him but still slightly. She did feel better knowing (Astrid) was there. Someone she knew to break the ice. And they just happened to pull up as they were getting the baby out of the car.

“Ready?” Jeongin asked as he turned his car off.

“Yeah,” Y/n said

“I did tell them that we’re not together and don’t plan to be so hopefully it doesn't come up,” Jeongin warned her as they got out of the car

“Okay,” Y/n nodded.

She was the one that brought up co-parenting only so why did the last part sting a bit?

“I was going to yell at you if you were late,” (Astrid) told her friend

“I’m surprised you guys are on time,” Jeongin replied

“Look, I tried not to be,” Jisung said closing the door behind him while holding his daughters’ car seat in the other

“Gross,” Jeongin shook his head

The four walked into the house. Y/n was a bit taken aback by how big it was but she shouldn't have been too surprised. The Yang’s were rich after all, so it made sense to have a bigger house. From what she knew, Jeongin had two brothers, and (Astrid) had told her that two boys alone were a lot till his younger brother was born. Plus her parents would have (Astrid) over more when they were teenagers.

“Mom!” Jeongin called into the house.

“We’re in the kitchen!” a male voice called

The four walked further into the house, Y/n starting to get a bit nervous now. Especially seeing her baby’s father's family gathered.

“You guys brought Deiji,” Y/n assume Jeongin’s older brother asked

“Of course we did,” (Astrid) told him as she greeted the family.

Y/n watched as they all greeted each other. “This is Y/n,” Jeongin mentioned

Y/n smiled as his mom came around the kitchen island, “it’s nice to meet you, my dear.” she greeted

“It’s nice to meet you too,” Y/n said before the older women pulled her in for a hug

Y/n hugged her back before the woman pulled away, “can I get you anything to drink?” she offered

“Water, please.”

“Why don't you offer me something to drink?” Jeongin joked as his mom hit his shoulder

“You lived for how long?” she asked him

“What about me?” (Astrid) asked

“You also grew up here,” Jeongin retorted

“I didn't,” Jisung inputted as he hiked his daughter up in his arms a bit

“Between Jeongin and Astrid, you should know enough,” Jeongin’s mom answered as she handed Y/n a glass of water

“Thank you,” Y/n said

“So Y/n what do you do for work? Jeongin just told us the basics of how you two met and nothing else.” Jeongin’s dad asked

“I’m an editor for an online paper,” Y/n answered

“Have you thought about any changes after the baby comes?” his mom asked

“No. I still haven't told my boss about the pregnancy yet.”

“What about your family? Do they know?”

“Yeah. They live a bit of a way away so I gave them a call earlier today and told them.”

“Were they excited?”

“Yeah. They've always wanted grandkids.”

“So have we. Didn't think it would be Jeongin,” his mom said

“Ah!” Deiji yelled

Both her parents, Jeongin, and his brothers laughed at the baby’s opinion on the grandkid matter

“You tell her,” (Astrid) smiled

“She gets that from you,” Jeongin’s mom warned her.

“I don’t know. Ji’s pretty sassy too sometimes,” (Astrid) told her.

“No, I’m not,” Jisung defended himself

“Your mom begs to differ.”

“You do have an attitude sometimes,” Jeongin agreed

“I hope your kid is just like you,” Jisung told his friend

The pre-dinner conversation continued and Y/n lost all her nerves. Jeongin’s family mainly got to know her and asked her questions about herself and her work. The family was laid back, and normal. Y/n appreciated it— though she felt a bit anxious when (Astrid) went to feed her baby before dinner. Jeongin seemed to notice and squeezed her shoulder as he continued his conversation.

“Jisung, go tell your fiancée dinners ready,” Jeongin’s mom said

“Okay,” Jisung agreed and walked down the hall.

“I thought you were going to do something different with the room?” Jeongin’s youngest brother asked

“Might as well keep it now In’s gonna have a kid,” his older brother said

“Room?” Y/n asked as they all sat at the dinner table, waiting for the other three

“We converted one of the bedrooms into a nursery slash playroom when Deiji was first born. She had some postpartum depression and there were times Jisung couldn’t be around but (Astrid’s) been better so she’s not over as much,” Jeongin’s mom explained

“We’ll probably have to change a few things once you two find out what you’re having,” his dad commented

“We’ll have to wait and see before we make any changes,” his mom said

“She’s still feeding Deiji. Said to start without her,” Jisung said as he walked back into the room

“All right. Make her a plate, at least Jisung.”

Everyone moved to grab some food from the center before fully sitting and starting to eat. The conversation continued as (Astrid) came back with her daughter. Taking a seat next to her fiancé while her daughter immediately tried grabbing the plate of food in front of her.

Jisung took his daughter from his fiancé before the little girl started to get passed around the table while everyone ate. Eventually landing on Y/n’s lap towards the end of the night.

“She’s getting tired,” (Astrid) noted as she looked at her daughter

The baby laid back against Y/n, playing with her fingers, comfy and ready to sleep. Y/n was completely unaware of Jeongin smiling at her holding his niece. Everyone decided to call it a since the baby was getting sleep and everyone had work in the morning.

Y/n handed the sleepy baby to Jisung to put her in the car seat before saying goodbye to her baby’s father’s family.

“Thank you for having me,” Y/n said as his mom hugged her

“Anytime my dear. Don’t be afraid to call if you need something,” his mom answered and handed her her number

Y/n thanked her again before all the young adults left the house. Jeongin and (Astrid) said goodbye to his brothers before turning to their cars.

“Drive safe guys,” Jisung called as he opened the door for his fiancée.

Y/n and Jeongin waved bye to their friends and In opened the door for Y/n. She thanked him and climbed in. She put on the seatbelt as he climbed into the driver’s side and started up the car

“That went well,” Y/n commented

“I had a feeling it would after I talked with them. Though my mom was very serious about calling her anytime. High chance she’s gonna ask you to get coffee with her.”

“That’s fine,” Y/n laughed, “She’s nice. I’m glad she’s our kids' grandma.”

Jeongin smiled to himself as he drove her home. The two talk about a few things for the baby and their week.

“Do you want me to walk you up?” Jeongin asked as he parked outside her building.

“No, it’s fine. Thank you for the ride,” Y/n smiled as she grabbed her bag.

“Anytime,” Jeongin smiled as she got out of the car.

Y/n waved bye after closing the door and headed up to her apartment.
