What was Defense Witches 2?
Announced during the fifth anniversary, Defense Witches 2 was the sequel only released in Japan (despite plans to release overseas) This game was only released for a short while, not even reaching it's first-year anniversary before the game shut down.
While not much was known about the story (and I think only 3 or 4 areas were released before the game shut down) from the official Twitter page (err x), it seemed like the game was originally going to go with three main protagonists Mint (girl in pink) Felt (girl with the hat) (also take these two names with a grain of salt I'm not positive I'm going based off google translate) and Cornet (who needs no introduction)
The main girls from the first game were also brought over now a year older :D
There seems to be a new villain whos this girl (idk her name)
(Edit) Her name is Celesta, and she is Cornet's Older Sister. Thank you @defense-witches for the information
Now what was new in Defense Witches 2?
A GACHA system for gaining access to new characters, leveling up characters, gaining equipment/pets, and more.
A class system for character organization (year 1, year 2, year 3, other)
An equipment system (yes for each individual character)
A world map where stages were posted (credit to one of the dw2 artists)
new place management system for the witches where they disappear if not on a purple square after cooldown is done (year 1 & 2)
Adding onto the top point there's a new character what adds more purple spaces
Witches (3rd years and Others) usually only allow for placement of one of them on the map
Events offering rewards for characters, equipment, or pets (seasonal offered limited-time characters)
What Didn't Make It Into The Game? (But Was Revealed)
Given Felt and her sister were revealed as explosion types, Tiana might of played a bigger role (she is also one of the few original special witches to get a character redesign)
Chiara and a lot of the older witches were released after the initial release via updates however Lyra never made it into the game
They teased special moves that never made it in-game
I'll be posting more about the character that did make it into the game and some of the in-game manga at a later date

Yeah... This is the fan book. I remember longingly wanting this along with some of the other things the NEWGATE development team share... For example

Defense Witches Past World 2 - (Easy Method)
Welp writing the Memu method tutorials was complicated x_x so I'm really grateful this method exists as well :D this method is a lot easier and more accessible for everyone.
Though... If you want to try the memu method feel free it offers something this method doesn't

Credits and special thanks to NoAdagio1264 for providing the data file and to XORGX11xCharlsAtro for taking the data and creating an APK with the data preinstalled so you progess through the worlds without disruptions :D
Testing this out before posting this, I wanted to see how far I could make it before getting a game over. I totally wasn't stalling on studying for midterms
World 1 was a breeze :D however, normally, you can play through World 1 without any issues. World 2, however, was the real test.... Moment of truth...
I was able to beat and enter World 2 with no issues :D Wanting to make sure though I continued through World 2 got Chiara and got to World 3
That being said, this is where I got my game over >_< But yes you can play past World 2 and beyond. I'm not sure how the mad lad did it but I'm really happy this method exists, significantly easier than the Memu method and provides the vanilla experience we are all familiar with

To make this work simply install the app and enjoy. :D
Forewarning though since the game hasn't had updates (the app warns you about the app being made for older versions of Android) and is out of service, some things either need a workaround, don't work properly, freeze your game, or crash your game if you interact
The game over I got above stays frozen like that since it wants to pull up the Flare Ticket Menu but can't since the game doesn't have service to solve click the pause button and either pick restart or world select
Can't buy crystals for the crystal witches obviously no services (but there is another way look above wink wink)
The manga and hint is a hit or miss where sometimes it loads sometimes it will show a black screen or just show the top boarder (though the x button still works)
DO NOT click the bingo for Super Daisy (froze and crashed my game at least)
mighty witches, power up, rewind tickets, and flare tickets do not work
full power works however doesn't recharge on it own anymore, the only way to refill is to level up the witches (+1 per level up)

Defense Witches 2 Manga - Intro
Hello again :D Still wild to think I was entering middle school when I was first introduced to this series. Now, college work has me overwhelmed... I feel old
Anyway I ran into something that might have become lost media (sort of) I have a lot of the manga saved for this game however so far I seem to have forgotten to save the data download manga which shows only when you first download the game :(
That being said, thanks to the official Twitter I'm able to share this draft of the manga. It was changed and had more detail in the final game, but unfortunately, I don't have access to it anymore. I'm sorry.
I hope that I have the others saved correctly. >_< Sorry again

Yeah, I still want them... However, this goes to some of the more obscure stuff they would share. Often they would share these.
Often, they would share (and sometimes give away) these little acrylic charms. (I wish I had one of these as well ;-;) But yeah, that's kinda of it for some of the physical memorabilia.

The DW Offical Phone Backgrounds
Wow, hey, it's been a while. I remember finding archive accounts and being mad that none were active or posting frequently... I would like to apologize to all those people running these. It is more complicated than I thought >_<
Anyways I'm suddenly in the mood to talk about this game again lets do it :D
On the official site there was a page to download custom backgrounds made for phones and desktops! I don't remember how many there were but I have three :D
(Edit) I have found 1 of the desktop backgrounds :D just had to dig deeper
Unfortunately as a dumb iPad kid I didn't consider downloading the desktop versions so this is all I have to archive >_<

Defense Witches 2 Characters - Other
Heyo for this final characters introductions I'll be sharing some of the other characters that made it into the game and some of the limited-timed events character descriptions. Just keep in mind especially for the seasonal characters the translated descriptions weren't fully clear this was sort of what I was able to get out of them >-<
Luna - Summon Spirt
"An ancient spirit that lives forever. It can be summoned based on an ancient contract. Although it does not fight itself, it collects magical power from the earth and gradually shares its magical power with the summoner. A mysterious being who has no concept of good or evil and accepts all things as they are. My hobby is building dungeons."
Lili and Lala - Summoners
"Blue-haired Lili and red-haired Lala, join forces and summon a hero! An unknown being who has a telepathic ability that only the two of them can communicate with, as they share a shared fate that one will die no matter who tries it. The theory of extraterrestrial life forms is also deeply rooted. Where the heroes are summoned from us also shrouded in mystery, and we are waiting for clarification."
Professor Linnel - Teacher
A graduate and head of the magic school. She is working as an apprentice teacher at the school while developing new magic that adds magic to music. She has a gentle and self-paced personality, and she speaks to students as if she were talking to small children. My hobby is watching concerts. Lately, I've been obsessed with the Luxor band, which is popular among young people."
Christmas Chloe
"The student council will hold a Christmas party. Chloe was given the role of Santa. As she was handing out promotional flyers in cosplay a person was captivated by her unique gestures. One after another Santa Chloe's popularity has now spread not only within the school but throughout the town. I can't tell from her expression but she (doesn't?) seems happy about it."
Christmas Daisy
"This year Daisy was chosen to play the role of Santa, who makes children's dreams come true at the Christmas Party. Daisy prepares for the event after intense training, but her false beard falls off during an important scene and she gives the wrong gift. I keep failing... She becomes completely depressed however during her final performance, she receives letters of gratitude from the children, and her usual smile returns."
New Years Cornet
"What is it? Everyone is wearing something called a "furisode"! I can't lose either! I'm going to call the tailor in the demon world right away! There's no New Year's in the demon world, but if the former great demon lord asks me to... We can't leave this out. Thus, the first "long-sleeved kimono" in the demon world was completed! It was very satisfying for Cornet.
New Years Mint
"Mint changed unto the "long-sleeved kimono" that Daisy gave her. I'm going to show everyone. However, the only students left at the magic school during winter break are Tulle and Cornet the supplementary training duo. I was a little disappointed, but the two of them complimented me on how cute I was so I'm feeling great! I'm going to eat a lot of mochi and do my best again this year!"
New Years Felt
"In Stishford, a place where trade is prosperous and a point of exchange between different cultures, furisode the folk costume of the eastern countries are all the rage! Furisode was also sent to Felt's room for a girl working hard in the city. I'm a little embarrassed, but I'm going to go out wearing this today!"
Fun fact about Lili and Lala out of all the characters listed here on the others list they were the only ones present in the initial release of the game. However, they weren't playable... they were only really present in the summoning screen of the gacha to get more witches before becoming playable at a late date. Other than that look at their little dance :D
I love it :')
But yeah that's kinda it for the characters released for this game I'll try assembling this game manga together. Just might be kinda difficult my younger self decided to not save like manga's together >_<

Defense Witches 2 - Year 3
Rather short post this time not all the third-year students were released ;_; anyways here's an assumption on what the character descriptions are based on what I was able to translate.
Cecilia - Earth Witch
"Daisy's older sister. Former student council president. Although she has a kind and gentle personality, with master-level magical power and high charisma, she pulls her friends together. Even now that she retired as the student council president, she is a leader at the magic school. There are many people who rely on her and she is respected as the "secret student council president." She dotes on Daisy and has a silly side."
Bianca - Fire Witch
"Becky's older sister. Vice student council president. The eldest daughter of a prestigious noble family, she is a celebrity who is highly regarded in society due to her gorgeous appearance. Although she usually tries to act like an aristocrat, she has a friendly relationship with her fellow magical girls. She had a fiance chosen by her parents, but he recently went missing. I'm a little relieved that the marriage proposal fell through."
Lillian - Lighting Witch
"Chloe's older sister. I'm so scared that even if someone I don't know approaches me I'll get scared and run away. (She's fine if it's a magical girl who is a friend or a comrade.) However, her magical powers is unparalleled and it's rumored she can even surpass her teachers when it comes to long-distance lighting magic. My favorite candy is marshmallows."
Iris - Ice Witch
"Nicola's older sister. Current student council president. Very cool, and her smile from time to time is mysterious. She loves comedy and has a causal side where she bursts out with gags, but she is a little off-key and reigns over the school as the ice queen in many ways. Lately because of Velvet's southern accent she seems to be trying hard to learn the language."
Unfortunately while planned and have released character designs Lyra and Tiana were never released into the game.
Assuming Lyra, since she was in the previous game and Tiana because with the introduction of Felt (who is one of the main characters) and Cotton being explosion types, Tiana may have played a bigger role in this game. She is also one of two special characters in the first game to actually get a character redesign.
Ahh, but I really love these character redesigns. Even Celia's design seemed to have grown on me after all these years. (I absolutely used to despise it)

Defense Witches 2 Characters - Year 1
Hey everyone I guess I'll be sharing the new first-year witches that were introduced in this game :D I'll try translating their in game descriptions and names as best I can however please take these translations with a grain of salt. I'm using google translate and some of these give clearer descriptions than others >_<
Mint - Earth Witch (Main Character 1)
"It seems like she came from another space and time. A girl with amnesia. She looks a lot like Daisy. If there is a place being attacked my monsters, I can't help but defend myself. Innocent and friendly, she has great magic and can quickly become friends with anyone. A child who thrives when praised, a child who works hard. After all she looks a lot like Daisy."
Felt - Explosion Witch (Main Character 2)
"I come from the frontier village "Yubari". A serious transfer student - remains in some areas. A user of rare ancient magic. Because she did not recieve any formal magical education her magic sometimes goes out of control and causes trouble. I have a shy older sister who goes to this school. I'm always worried about whether she'll fit in."
Cornet - Former Demon King (Main Character 3)
"Annoyingly cute "Moto Daimaou" Through battles, she becomes friends with the magical girls, and in this work, she ends up enrolling into the magic academy. Although her noisy and selfish personality remains the same, she has a strange cuteness that you can't hate, very popular at the Great Magic Academy. Perhaps because humans have become more powerful growth has improved significantly. I love donuts."
Frill - Fire Witch
"A new student who knocks on the gates of the magic school with a strong admiration for Becky and Bianca. She has a superhuman will and talent and is able to use fire magic despite her family history of wind magic because she wants to use the same magic as Becky and others. The clothes she wears looks very similar to Becky's are cosplay costumes that she learned to sew on her own."
Tulle - Lighting Witch
"A new first-year student who passed the substitution exam. She hates studying, but her respect and admiration for magical girls is stronger than most people. She especially respects Chloe from the bottom of her heart and always asks her for special training for some reason. She is extremely gusty and doesn't give up on Chloe's spartan guidance."
Chiffon - Ice Witch
"She looks like a pretty beautiful girl. When she first entered the school, she was thought to be a cool girl, but she has repeatedly behaved in eccentric ways that you wouldn't expect from her looks and is now a total troublemaker at the school. She has a unique constitution where her emotions become violent when she drinks her favor food coffee and milk."
Velvet - Wind Witch
"A girl who loves money and is always interested in making money. When she goes on excursions to the mountains, she picks mushrooms, and when she goes to the seas, she devotes herself to fishing for saury. Her business spirit is unparalleled. She speaks in a number of south tones, but her birthplace is shrouded in mystery. There are rumors that they may actually be a member of the Feather tribe."
What's up with almost all the new girl's names being after some sort of fabric? Even the year 2 new girl (who I'll get to later) whose name translates to Cotton. Also got mixed feelings about both Mint and Daisy's character descriptions and the in-game mangas (which I'll also share) about their possible implied relationship.
Until someone comes along with better translations, this is what I got for now. Again, please take this with a grain of salt this is just what I could understand from the jumbled mess thats was google translate >_<

Defense Witches Past World 2 - Part 2 (Memu Method)
Heyo, congratulations on making it past part 1 :D Here it gets rather complicated, but I'll do my best to explain and show the process thoroughly. If you haven't checked out part 1....

That being said, if you get stuck, find this too complicated, or just want to play this on your phone without the hassle, here's the easy method.

Now, continuing where we left off....
Changing Files
Here is where it gets really complicated, as we are now changing and altering gamer files. This and you may run into an issue the uploader to the video didn't encounter themselves but others have reported, however, I found a possible solution
While it might not be necessary for all, if your data folder is locked (access denied) here, you may need to (click the three dots in the top right corner, configuration, root access, and super user) in order to gain permission to edit the folder.
Set up your left and right boxes for data overwrite
Left Box
Make Sure Your on Root (Like In Part 1)
Click on data
Click On User
Click on 0
Click on jp.newgate.game.android.dw
Right Box
Click on Internal Storage
Click On Download
Click On app_data
2. Making Sure Blue Arrow up top is pointing left click copy and ok
3. When this box shows up move the switch to do this for all and click overwrite
Once the download is finished there you go you have access to the game and the ability to progress and unlock witches and worlds on your own :D However if you did this method your after more right? Well not to worry theres more :)
Optional Bonus
Words can't describe how awesome DW Nicola is for sharing their data with us and Kinac is for sharing this process. This game and what down below would of been lost to time. To them I can't say this enough Thank you words can't descibe the happiness I felt when this worked.

Click Checkmark by Game.sqlite
Click Delete
Click Checkmark By Backup
Click on Rename
Rename to game.sqlite
Close File Manager
Open Defense Witches

A Couple of Heads Up
If you want to summon Super Daisy you have to going into settings and turn on confirm unit when you summon (DW Nicola has it off)
The manga and hint button is hit or miss on weither it will show the manga. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't (sorry manga fans >_<)
Things like Flare Tickets, Rewind Tickets, and Kala's Time Stop Ability doesn't work (no service)
Yes Full Power Works, Yes you can use it but be careful orbs don't recover automatically (since you know... no service and the run around method doesn't work cause uhh... all characters are max level >_<;)
(Edit) Lmao the solution to the orb problems come from the character I happened to land on to show that all characters are maxed out. Yuiko has the ability to spawn red chests which sometimes contains orbs

Defense Witches Past World 2 - Part 1 (Memu Method)

Heyo, I JUST MADE A BREAK THROUGH WITH TWO DIFFERENT METHODS TO PLAY PAST WORLD 2
Okay not exactly all the hard work fo this method of getting the game working again goes to Kinac The Frog (@/allforest01) on Youtube who discovered how to play past world 2 + an added bonus :) on Memu (Calling It Memu Method) and DWNicola for sharing their data with Kinac to make this method possible
I would say the Memu method is definetly worth the effort that needs to be put into it for its added bonus with the end result however its also significantly more complicated and takes a lot of time which is why I'm sharing this tutorial with added pictures to make the process easier (and maybe save time not having to watch the programs download in real time in the video)
If you have complications with this method, would rather play the game on mobile devices (android only sorry >_<), or are okay with replaying the whole game with the vanilla experience I would recommend the easy method
EASY METHOD
For those of you who are willing to go through the process I screenshoted the entire process, which came to around 38 screenshots.... this is gonna take a while but... LET DO THIS

What is Needed?
To begin, I want to specify the tutorial is done on a Windows computer I'm not sure how doing this would work on Mac or how this would work on Apple & Android phones (we are basically emulating a phone)
You will need...
A Computer/Laptop
Memu https://www.memuplay.com/
The App itself: Download either from google play store (from account that had it previously) or an apk
App data Folder: this is provided in the description of the video and was provided by thee DW Nicola (confirmed here sort by newest comment)
X-plorer File Manager: Download from playstore
App Data
This is provided in the description of the video but I'll share it here as well here you will need the app data folder and if your going the apk method an apk to the game is provided here as well
Before Opening Memu
Here is a list of some of the necessary things to have/do before opening Memu for the first time and arguably the easiest part of this whole process (It doesn't get easier T_T)
If your going APK route make sure to have it downloaded before opening Memu
Download the App Data Folder (Should be a zip file)
Extract The Zip File
Setting Up Memu
The video jumps around a bit sometimes stopping in a middle of a step below to download something however to make it easier here is some of the basic setup you may need to do
Open Memu and complete the Download and Installation
Once on home screen click gear on the far right task bar
Enable Root Mode (move the switch to on)
Click Restart Memu
Download the Neccessary Apps (X-plore File Manager and Defense Witches)
Downloading Defense Witches (Play Store Method)
Log into an account with Defense Witches previously downloaded and install
Downloading Defense Witches (APK Method)
You should have the apk already dowloaded onto your computer
Click APK button on the far right
Click on Defense Witches APK to install
Data Transfer
Here is the start of transfering the app data on your computer to the emulator
Open Defense Witches (I'm not sure if you need to fully play the first stage in order for the files to show up or if you can exit right away but I would play through the first level)
Fully Exit and Close Defense Witches (Click Square and slide right + click on x on the top tab)
Open X-plore File Manager
Click on Root File on the left side
Open the preinstalled File Manager (Inside the tools folder) we aren't using this to change game files. We are only using this to check if transfer of the app data folder is successful.
Click Download Folder
Click Shared Folder
Click on windows button under shared download path
Copy and Paste (or click and drag) the extracted app data folder into the newly open file
When you check back into the preinstalled File Manager it should appear meaning it sucessfully transfered over
Close the pre installed File manager
Reopen X-plore File Manager
Running out of space for the next step (a lot of images very complicated T_T) I'll be continuing this tutorial in part 2 see you then :D
