PSA: What I've Learned About Roleplaying (& what I look for in a RP partner/interactions)

Between an overdue blog cleanup, talking with @climatact, and coming up on a year of roleplaying in general today, I've been thinking on some stuff I've learned or wish I'd done differently from the beginning, so this is kind of a general PSA on some things I've learned that do and don't work for me in RP this year.

♥ In hindsight, I probably DO NOT already ship it. (Y'all know the psa that goes around. I used to like rb'ing this one too but boy, have I learned about some ships I really wish I had not learned about.) I like shipping, but have definitely discovered I can't and don't want to ship just for the sake of it. I'm going to blame this on my aroace-ness, but I really can't even bring myself to take on/entertain a ship now unless it's with a mun I have a decent ooc connection with (meaning we talk a fair bit). This has become every bit as important as muse chemistry.

♥ Along the same lines, I know this is not everyone's vibe (and that is NOT a bad thing), but for me, wanting to write with someone and wanting to be their friend go pretty much hand-in-hand. If I've followed you, it's because I want to write with you and chat OOC, whether that's just about our muses/threads or we hit it off and find ourselves talking about anything/everything. I know this isn't what everyone's here for, but I've realized it's a big part of the experience for me.

♥ Communication is really key for me. (And I will go ahead and disclaimer this with: this is something I have definitely had to learn/get better at myself throughout the year. I'm still not the absolute best, but I'm trying, and when I do talk about things when I'm in my bad headspace, it always helps me so I'm trying to be better about it.)

It's my BIGGEST FEAR in the rpc that I might be someone's "that person" - like... you're not feeling our stuff and angsting about it/it's preventing you from having your best rp experience here. Please please please do not ever let me be this person to you. I would so much rather you just tell me "this isn't working for me" or that you'd like to drop something than worry about it. (Or, hell, do not feel guilty about breaking mutuals if you're leaning that way. This is your RP experience and you should do what you feel is best for you and even if my feelings get hurt, I promise I'm gonna be okay. <3 Just... don't ever feel guilty about anything regarding me, that's the idea.)

♥ That said, though, I have a couple of notes on dropped interactions. I am 110% serious when I tell you I don't mind dropped threads. If our first few things don't take off, that's no reason we can't keep trying.

I don't mind dropped threads, but I do put a lot of effort into my replies and I AM attached to/invested in my ongoing interactions. As a result, I do find it difficult to jump into ic interactions with muns who frequently clear things (ongoing things, not unanswered inbox; those I don't even think about) like they just didn't matter. I don't mind if things take a while to reply to! We can have threads going on we only reply to once or twice a year - that seriously doesn't bother me. (And it's why I love having multiple ongoing things.) But I'm also OPEN TO TALKING ABOUT THINGS if an interaction isn't a vibe for you. I'm happy to restart, backtrack to an earlier point in the thread and change things up, all of that. If you loved it and now you don't and you want to talk about why, there's no reason to be shy about that! Either we end up talking through it or we don't and decide to drop it, it's not a big deal. I'd just like to give things their best change before just deciding "I'm not feeling it" if at all possible.

hi :) i updated the little blurb on my pinned post. i will now be selectively accepting romantic ships outside of her ck arc on this blog. what does that mean? it means the history / story page written up with her life with terry is not open to more romantic ships. however , her main canon is open. she’s a journalist and author essentially on the outside of all the karate war mess.

SHIPPING PSA: PT. 2 (An addendum to my original shipping guidelines here).

I've mentioned in my rules and PSAs to date that this blog is both multiship and duplicate ship friendly. This is still 100% the case, and as @climatact noted in her PSA this changes basically nothing, but I'm updating this now to say that this blog IS multiship but DOES feature a MAIN SHIP with @climatact's Nami.

Generally speaking, all ships take place in their own verses regardless, but what this means as my main ship is that unless we're talking about potentially shipping or a specific verse is requested otherwise, it is to be assumed that in any memes, tags, or various interactions set in Law's Main/Canon verse, Law is either actively in a relationship with Bunny's Nami or set to end up one.

This does not have to (& may not) feature or be mentioned in the threads themselves, but it is a canon/assumed thing in my main verse writings with him. This isn't an aspect anyone has to play into or acknowledge (though you're more than welcome to if you wanna because I love stuff like that - especially since *coughs* the likelihood of a Straw Hat Law is increasing by the day) and as I know the ship may not be everyone's favorite, I am happy to avoid particular focus on it in our main verse interactions if you'd prefer not to engage with that aspect. ♡

This is not meant to take anything away from my other ships. I love each and every ship I have as well as all the muns who write them with me SO MUCH. I am still multiship and duplicate ship friendly, and would be delighted to discuss/explore ships with anyone who's read my shipping guidelines & is still interested in writing one with me! But as I got into roleplaying thanks to Bunny in general and specifically for the sake of writing this ship together, it holds a special place in my heart and it seems only right that this will henceforth be considered the main ship for my blog.

Between talking to new people over the meme call & the prompted starter call today (+ the usual side-ooc ranting), I just have to say I can't tell y'all how much I enjoy the ooc picking each other's brains on our stance on things for our muses. I haven't started writing on my multi yet, but even just getting to vaguely talk about or start pondering things for the muses I'm planning to write there has been SO MUCH fun and gotten me so excited about them. I love passing thoughts like that turning into entire chains of thoughts that become headcanons and snowball into more and more understanding of the muses.

So yes, I will use this excited babble to implore you all to please feel free to send in any hc prompts, random asks (anon or not) about things, or even just drop into my DMs or discord if you want to see how my muse(s) feel or think about certain things for ongoing or potential interactions! I love these convos!

Interaction PSA: On Verses & Verse Building!

-- Info pertaining to verses, AUs, verse-buildings, crossovers, etc. This series of PSAs is meant to accompany & further elaborate on some things in my updated rules. I link to them throughout not as required guidelines, but what I hope are helpful snippets for those looking for the best means of interacting! --

♥ I love verses. I love verse-building. I love AUs. That's it, y'all. That's the post. (I"m technically kidding, but it could be.) I love playing in other peoples' verses, I love people jumping into my verses, I love building a verse with a mun whether it's based on a series of canon-divergent what-ifs or taking our muses and throwing them into the setting or situations of another fandom we both enjoy... you name it.

♥ I am happy to write all the threads, in all the verses, all the time. I like having multiple things going on. I have verses that are spin-offs of other verses that only explore a minor deviation in the original premise of the verse. When I say I want to explore our muses in every possible scenario, I mean it - so if you're ever torn on options for a meme, or you've got a "well... we could do this, but we could also do this," situation, there is a high probability I'm just going to send you the "both is good" meme and ask what we're calling both of them.

Seriously. I have enough threads in enough verses going on with @climatact that I had to put together a thread directory. And I love every single one of them.

♥ Exploring canon-divergent "what if" scenarios is my favorite. Off the top of my head, some of the verses I've helped create or been a part of have been based around questions like these (shoutout to those reading their questions or ones we've discussed here, y'all know who you are):

• what if robin had found her way to the north & joined the donquixote family after aokiji sent her on her way from ohara? • what if bellemere had lived, nami had followed in her footsteps to become a marine, law & corazon had had more time together, and their search for a cure had taken them as far as the east? • what if law had stayed with the donquixote family (willingly or not?)

tl:dr; i love them. ask them. let's build verses from them!

♥ Other things I love building verses off of? Shared interests, tropes, and favorite fandoms.

• ❛ Oh, hey. I love Greek mythology. You too? Cool let's build a verse where our muses are gods & goddesses. ❜ • ❛ Found family trope?! Absolutely, let's do it. ❜ • ❛ You watched Noragami too? We should build a Noragami verse for them! ❜

PSA: OOC Interactions. Today I’m reflecting on OOC interactions, the friends I’ve made the past year in the RPC, and some of the things I’m bad about doing until I really find my footing with people, so have some scattered thoughts thrown into a PSA as I once again commit to doing better at checking in with my mutuals.

I’ve mentioned it before, but I genuinely love talking to my mutuals ooc. It’s absolutely not a requirement for us to write together (I know not everyone has the time for that or the interest in chatting all the time), but I do find it’s easier for me to write with a mun I know I can scream about ongoing interactions with. 💕 I am NOT shy (on here specifically), so if you are & wanna chat but don’t know where to start, I can absolutely take over like NO SHY HERE WE’RE FRIENDS NOW LET’S TALK!

That said, I know I do go quiet from time to time. This is generally a result of feeling guilty for being behind on things (it feels bad sometimes to want to talk ooc knowing I’m really late on tags I owe someone even though I KNOW most of y’all don’t actually mind that at this point.) If we talk or have talked and I’ve been quieter than usual, this is usually what it is. Sometimes I need to be told outright that that isn’t an issue or that someone isn’t upset or impatient with me, but once I know that for sure, I wish you the very best luck ever trying to get rid of me once we start screaming at each other. 🥹

Also know that even if I’m in that situation, and I’m quiet and lurking, I’m probably still seeing all the dash stuff and sitting on my hands not to send memes when I see them rb’d, etc- that’s another thing I sometimes need to be shaken to really click in my head (that it’s okay to send more stuff if we have things going on!) But again, once I know that for sure… I will probably send you stuff whenever the mood & spontaneity strike going forward.

Interaction PSA: On Plotting

-- Info pertaining to plotting- the mun's take on it, ideas if we're stuck, what "plotting" might look like from my end if you're okay with it, etc. This series of PSAs is meant to accompany & further elaborate on some things in my updated rules. I link to them throughout not as required guidelines, but what I hope are helpful snippets for those looking for the best means of interacting! --

♥ This mun loves & has a strong preference for plotting (or at least minimal outlining!) Especially true for new interactions. It's not a requirement*, but I've definitely found it's easier for me to reply to things/feel more creative freedom if I at least have a general idea of what we'd like the dynamic to be if our muses go for it, or like... a little bit of basic worldbuilding or conflict, that type of thing. Even just knowing I can bounce into your messages like "hey! I saw that meme you just sent and here's kind of the first idea I got for it - what do you think?"

* Note that plotting IS required for any romantic/sexual ships. I'm more open to winging it with platonic stuff, but if you wanna ship, you've gotta be willing to chat OOC - that's explained in detail on the Shipping PSA.

♥ I don't mean to be "uncreative" in doing this. Most of the time I have thoughts to bounce, I just generally like bouncing them off of a new RP partner to peek into their muse's takes on some things, the mun's preference for genre/dynamic, etc. Sometimes having more/infinite options to where a thread can go without really knowing what the mun is interested in is really daunting to me & leads to freezing up/not having any ideas at all.

I am somewhat "dependent" on ooc interactions with muns. It's (again) not required, but... I will be completely transparent in saying I'm generally faster and more comfortable with/drawn to things written with muns who I know are okay with (or preferably enjoy) this.

♥ I welcome & encourage anyone who enjoys plotting/outlining to message me ooc about anything & everything! Honestly like... there is no such thing as "too much" plotting to me. Many of my interactions with @climatact are HEAVILY plotted, but knowing what happens (or what we think is gonna happen; lots of times the muses take us by surprise) does not take away from the fun of actually getting there and writing it out imo.

I just personally get discouraged when it feels like the NSFW threads are all a ship is about (I need a healthy balance of buildup, emotional attachment, fluff, & feeling expressed in other ways.). ♥ General shipping info for Law: Law is bisexual, but again, very demi and unlikely to enter into any sort of romantic or sexual relationship without an established connection to your muse. No ships will be written with any muse under the age of 18; otherwise, age gaps are not a big concern unless they're like... extreme (given Law's age that limits the "younger than him" gap to 8 years - older I'd probably go so far as 10-15, depending.)

♥ This blog is MULTI-SHIP & I DO NOT (will not) do exclusives. Each ship takes place in its own verse: there will be no one "canonical" relationship. I'm okay with duplicate shipping, so don't be afraid of reaching out even if you already see me writing with another mun's portrayal of your muse. I promise you I'm not writing a ship with anyone that's going to feel "weird" about me writing that ship with your muse, too, and if we go that route, Law and I will love you and your muse as much as we do our existing mun/muse relationships.

♥ WHAT I CONSIDER AN ACTIVE SHIP: I mentioned this in the Memes PSA since MY NSFW MEMES ARE OPEN TO ACTIVE SHIPS ONLY, it's relevant here too. An "active ship" implies we've had the "are you interested in shipping" chat and it's gathered enough traction (either in ongoing threads or our OOC chats) that we both seem to think it's going to take off. If I've told you how excited I am at any point and/or thanked you for writing/wanting to write a ship with me, you're safe to send.

♥ Ship Biases & Ship WILL NOTs: Below are brief lists of ships I WILL NOT write and ones I have a bias for. If a ship is not listed in either category, don't be afraid to reach out - that means it's one I will at least consider to see if 1. I personally can see it working or 2. my Law would ever feasibly end up in. The worst that can happen is I consider it and decide I can't see it working out for whatever reason(s).

In the case of a "no", I'll be honest, but never rude! And even if I don't see a romantic ship working, I will still be more than happy to write other dynamics between our muses. (If you aren't, that's okay, too! Everyone's RP experience should be what they want and I see no fault in "only being here for the ships"! I would just ask you to be straightforward with me & yourself and unfollow or soft block so I know not to pursue any platonic interactions. No hard feelings.)

♥ SHIP "WILL NOT"S: I do not ship and will not write Law with either of the Donquixote brothers, ANY member of his crew (or platonic family), or Luffy. I don't mind people shipping LawLu, but it's not one I care to explore personally.

Interaction PSA: Memes

[With less time to RP lately, I've had to be more selective and realized I often find myself browsing new followers' blogs for the types of PSAs they post/rb. Things like their meme and writing preferences, expectations for reply times, etc. They help me get an idea of if we'll be a good "vibe" or not, so I wanted to add a PSA / Interacting Info section back to my pinned with some (hopefully!) helpful info.]

♥ My memes have no expiration date. I go back through them regularly and if there are ones I no longer feel like doing, If it's in my meme tag, you're welcome to send it no matter how long it's been since I rb'd it.

♥ Memes are always welcome & a great ice breaker. If you're a new mutual and aren't sure how to reach out ic or ooc, memes are always a great option. Chances are, if you send me a meme for the first time and we haven't talked yet, I'll likely crawl into your IMs to say hello and thank you for sending something, so it's kind of two birds with one stone. (I am shy, but less shy when I know someone wants to interact enough to send something.)

♥ Multiple memes are not only welcome, but encouraged. I LOVE having options to choose from. My muse is sporadic and unpredictable. Some days I'm in an angst mode. Some days I just want fluff. Sometimes my brain just doesn't want to give me anything for a particular meme for a long time. I feel really guilty keeping people waiting for a reply if I don't get quick muse for the one & only thing they've sent in, so I promise you're both doing me a favor and making my day if you send me more than one thing.

♥ And no, I'm not exaggerating when I say there is no limit. You're not "spamming me", you're not "bugging me", you're not sending "too much". I light up each time I see "new ask received", so as long as you know they may not all get responded to right away / in order / in a "quick" manner and understand that I may still rb memes or post and/or like meme & starter calls even if my inbox is not empty, seriously - go for it. Feel free to keep sending even if I haven’t finished all of yours yet.

♥ In the case of new interactions, I will likely reach out to bounce ideas/thoughts for answering a meme. I don't mean this to be uncreative or annoying, but sometimes I freeze up when things are too open / have infinite possibilities. I do better with light discussion, outlining, or some plotting. If I reach out like this it's because I'm really excited and just want to bounce thoughts off of you to break that ice and get my brain cells working. I generally feel more comfortable winging it as I get to know a mun, but I enjoy plotting in general so if that’s your thing we can plot as much as you want, always!

♥ On NSFW Memes: This is the only exception to the above rules. Sinday and other spicy memes are reserved for active ships ONLY. I'm a selective shipper, and shipping generally depends on good chemistry between both the muns and our muses. I feel like you'll probably know if we have what I consider an "active ship", but pretty much if we'd had the "would you be interested in shipping" discussion and gushed to some extent about their dynamic (whether it's fully written out in threads yet or not), I consider you an "active ship". I timeline hop and write lots of verses, so our threads do not have to be linear. Like with any other meme, I may hold on to one until I get a good idea for it or feel like it fits or I've asked some questions I need to know first - but if we have agreed to ship and bounced any ideas on how we think our muses' overall dynamic will go, you can send these!

In the event of NSFW memes received outside of active ships, I will either reply in a different, PG/platonic context or - if that's not possible - delete the meme.
