character headcanons : intro to emily pearson

emily is jessie's ex fiancée and first ever girlfriend . previously her childhood best friend who she's known since she was eight . when the two were thirteen , emily kissed jessie for the first time and the rest was history .

emily is five feet and two inches of stage presence . if you thought jessie knew how to light up a room , one look at emily and you'd be mistaken . a true performer , never going anywhere without her guitar or a songbook . emily is beautiful , blonde hair down to her waist , thin hourglass shaped body, ocean blue eyes , and a voice like an angel . a southern belle through and through with rosy cheeks and giant smile .

jessie associated her with pink -- the color of love . there was nothing that jessie did not love about emily , and thought that she was the most beautiful person to ever exist . looking at her through rose colored glasses , emily had no faults to jessie . none at all .

born into a conservative christian family , the thought of her being a lesbian scared her . it wasn't her attraction to women , but the perception of her liking women . her parents often tried to set emily up with boys even while her and jessie were together , because emily had wanted to keep their relationship a secret . jessie had no problem with staying in the closet for awhile , already planning her life with emily in her head for when she was going to run away , but emily had shown no signs of wanting to leave --- despite having big dreams to become a country singer and travel the world .

( unbeknownst to jessie , one of the reasons why emily didn't leave with her is because her father's sickness , knowing she didn't have much time left with him . as far as jessie knew , he was as happy as a clam and fully healthy . )

emily and her family have always been private people . there was a lot that even jessie didn't know about emily despite dating her for about eight years of her life . emily struggled with mental health just like jessie had , as well as an eating disorder and nicotine addiction . there were times that emily would go radio silent on jessie , and she would just compare it to when she herself would have off days .

emily's parents owned the market and butcher shop , her first job was stock when she reached ten years old . when her father finally passes away , emily and her mother close up shop once and for all .

emily's interests : singing , songwriting , high heels , polaroid cameras , lesbian boyband enjoyer , flowers , volleyball , surf / beach aesthetic .
