"i am no one who rejects a compliment as long as it is meant serious." she also was not one of the women who think they are too good or too bad for compliments. the rejection of beautiful words can, surprisingly, go both ways. it might also have something to do with the fact that katherine is a confident woman who thinks she deserves compliments.

"it's actually interesting to see how different people can act upon that specific topic." in some areas, and especially in the past, it was not uncommon for one brother to try to overthrow the other. all for a title and the money and power that came with it. but these were the secrets of a long life: a vampire saw many things and could compare them to each other. "i think it often also has something to do with the fact that men want to control women." hence why they are allowed more freedoms than their wives. which was probably a rather rare opinion that was expressed loudly, but what was to be done about it? punish her with contempt? katherine was certainly not afraid of that.

"i'm surprised you don't have any suitors? aside our little artistic tête-á-tête." she winked. he said it himself: people were usually looking for wealth and he did have money.

benedict then started to lace her corset and she kept quiet for a moment while she let him work. only when he was nearly done, she spoke again: "see, it's no witchery."

@beautifulnigtmare gets a (semi-plotted) starter for benedict bridgerton because of this:

behind every oh-so-noble and elitist society, are abysses, which are sometimes more times less surprising or even bad. in her many years, katherine had learned that sometimes, these hidden and secret pastimes were more fun than the stiff and boring conversations usually expected of a lady. and yes, while katherine is master of her fate and can choose her demeanor, she much prefers to act as a lady than a simple commoner (let alone a whore - gosh, people would talk if they knew what she was currently doing).

in addition, which makes those hidden and secret pastimes even more fun, this 'underworld' is also full of secrets and of course opportunities to feast on blood. she has often managed to pick up one or the other confidential word. information that can be proven to be incredibly valuable. nonetheless, she is still careful with whom she has contact and who is going to see her.

at the moment, she was only available to a very specific person as a drawing model as aphrodite. her naked back was facing benedict while her hand pressed a white linen cloth to her front to cover the more intimate parts as well as her butt. although she was not a classic high-born lady, she still had a bit of decency – besides, she was not keen on discovering a compromising painting centuries later.

"how long will it take until the painting is finished?", she asked while maintaining her position perfectly.
