Dean had been having subtle dreams since he was eighteen and they seemed to come true every time and it was never anything bad. Things such as if he was going to fail a test in class or not. As he got older and started hunting more with his father and on his own, Dean began to have dreams about his hunts and cases. Dean even had a dream about the car accident that caused John to sell his soul to Azazel.
Years had gone by and Dean hadn't had a single dream until now. Dean was out in the garage in the bunker working on a tune up on the Impala when he got a sudden painful ringing in his ears and an over the top painful migraine that caused the hunter to drop to his knees, his tools dropping to the concrete and against his metal toolbox with a loud and audible sound.
Everything was a thick fog and all Dean could do in that moment was clutch his head and lean against the car while he tried to catch his breath. It was a vision, but he wasn't asleep and this vision was about...Samantha? He remember that she told him that she wanted to go out with friends tonight and his vision was telling him to not let her go. Digging his boot into the concrete floor, Dean didn't even hear the door leading to the garage open, the ringing in his ears still loud and intense. He hadn't told his children about these psychic episodes because he hasn't had one in years since having the kids.

Dad, Emmett, and Sam knew about Dean's psychic abilities, but none of them ever made a big deal about it because they knew how Dean felt about it and how much he tried to ignore his dreams and visions, but they always came true. If they were related to a hunt, Dean felt obligated to tell Dad.
It's been a few years since Dad died and Dean hadn't had a single vision. At least, not until he and Emmett were driving in the Impala in the middle of the night. It started with ringing in his ears which blocked out all other sounds and then the headaches started and then the foggy vision and by then, Dean had to pull over so he didn't crash the car. Throwing open the driver side door, Dean turned to hang outside the door and cradled his head tightly.

Dean frowned as he listened to his daughter talk. He knew that she was terrified when she had been kidnapped by those demons for that whole week that she went missing and Dean went absolutely bat shit on the demons when he had found her. Dean hadn't slept since she went missing because he was more than just determined to find his baby girl.
Leaning the gun carefully against the wall, Dean walked over the the island table in the middle of the kitchen and leaned against the counter, keeping his head down for a moment before he looked up and spoke.
"Sammy," he sighed softly. "I know exactly what you're going through down to the last detail. I wasn't kidnapped like you were, but I went to Hell for four months. Up here it was four months, but in Hell, it was more like fourty years." Dean mumbled. "I couldn't sleep for months after. Hell, I still get nightmares and there are nights where I just don't sleep at all."
