she's silent at first, almost reverent, committing the unfamiliar mark on his chest to memory as her fingers trace over it lightly. the map of scars on his skin has become unfamiliar to her in their years apart, with far too many additions since they'd last been together like this. blue eyes raise from the scar to search his expression when he remains silent, so used to him offering the story of each mark gained between their moments in private with his characteristic flourish. when his silence continues, her eyes soften. " what happened here, lou? " the question is gentle enough to communicate that if he should say no, she won't be upset.

" well, it's nice to know you didn't replace me while you were being mole people, " she's grinning at her own joke, careful to keep her voice quiet in repeating his phrase with madi finally resting on the rover's back seat. there's a quick kiss to his cheek when she eases the door shut so as not to wake madi, somehow feeling both as if no time has passed at all and the weight of the years lost pressing on her at the same time. the teasing hint to her smile fades somewhat as she considers him, leaning back against the dented door. now that the chaos has died down, she's been studying the power dynamics of the entire bunker group --- wonkru, as they insisted. it's no surprise that she's missed something in the six years, but whatever happened in the bunker had clearly left an impact on everyone. cognizant that outright asking might only lead to hostility, she opts to shift closer to her oldest friend, testing the waters when their shoulders brush, when she leans her head against him. " you know, madi already filled you in on our time up here... " with a few too many details, in her personal opinion, but that was beside the point. she chews on her lower lip for a moment, debating how to ask for a summary of an entire six years, but finally offers, " if you want to talk about how that rabid animal ended up on your face --- i'm here for you, lou. "
