ooc;; rambly muse feelings but ooooooof! i'm listening to a podcast right now going through the pjo series and they're on tlo, specifically the chapter where nic.o betrays pe.rcy and takes pe.rcy to had.es. and just--the berating and belittling getting thrown at ni.co has always shook me and again it's hitting me again. the podcasters brought up how this very much feels like cycles of abuse with kro.nos to h.ades and h.ades to nic.o. i've always felt that ha.des sees a lot of himself in ni.co so there's projection there where ha.des has a low opinion of himself so is throwing that at ni.co too.

but also some of the things that h.ades says about n.ico where he says that ni.co is honest and he wants to help people are true!! and they're not bad things!!! but because ha.des is degrading ni.co for them, ni.co hates those things about himself, continuing to see those parts of him as 'weak' just like how he feels about myth.omagic before and who he is attracted to later. the amount of self-loathing this 12 year old child has is so so much and my heart breaks for him constantly aughhhhh

hc;; nico's anger is closely linked to his sense and understanding of justice, not to mention the ideas of vengeance and retribution especially when it comes to holding grudges. there's more to this and i'll write it out more later, but you can't think about nico's anger without thinking about his justice

ooc; okay but listen-- listen

Nico has a complicated relationship with grief considering he took one of the hardest roads someone could take to fully go through his, but I think that because of this, it gives him a unique perspective and understanding on grieve as a whole. And as awkward as Nico might be with most living people, he does actually have some skill helping people work through their grief too.

It's easier for Nico to relate to the dead, he understands the dead, and when someone is mourning, it's almost like they're just skimming the veil in that moment between life and death. And Nico is uniquely able to help people navigate that.

(I think I had a headcanon at one point too where sometimes Nico helps Will in the Infirmary, and if there's ever someone, who isn't going to survive, Nico helps guide them to the Underworld too.)

But also imagine Nico bringing a camper food or water if they forget to eat, or just sitting with someone for hours in silence if needed, being a listening ear. Because Nico wants to help people and he doesn't want them to make the same mistakes he did.

there's something going on with you mentally. you haven't told anyone because you don't want to drag them down with you. it kills you on the daily and you feel like you're falling apart, however, nobody's noticed. you feel like you should be thankful for that, but it just hurts more. you feel selfish and weak for wanting help, yet something deep and knotted beneath your diaphragm is screaming to let go of the pain and let someone else handle it for awhile.

ooc; I wonder if before neeks got a better handle on his powers, he sort of oozed fear. Not like a literal thing but most people just got vaguely uncomfortable around him. It would explain why camp didn’t feel like a fit for him for so long
