bo just about shook with excitement as he clumsily parked his bike near their front door one handed , swiftly bursting through it and into the apartment with a grin on his face as he had so much to look forward to today , so many reasons that worked as justification of why he was over the moon with excitement . “ iv ? you up yet ? ” he called out before he was even able to scan the apartment for sight of his partner properly . he stepped over to the cluttered kitchen table , first placing the two coffees down before swinging the large backpack off of his back and placing it down beside them with a light thud of a noise . “ i got something for us to do this morning . ” he explained to the man whose whereabouts was still a mystery to bo , talking to the man who for all bo knew could have still been deeply asleep in their bed right now . he pushed sheets of paper aside into a neat-ish pile near the wall , and then he pulled out two small - albeit heavy - pumpkins from his bag , placing them down on their table . he threw his backpack back over near the front door , where it typically always resided , and he turned around just in time to see ian emerge from the bathroom .
“ baby , ” his voice was as cheery as the expression worn on his face . “ you’re awake . ” he was visibly and audibly so pleased that that was the case , stepping over to his partner with a happy skip in his step . “ happy halloween , love bug . good morning , too . ” he took ian’s chin in one of his hands , pressing not one , not two , but three kisses to his lips as a greeting . “ have you put your carving tools away yet ? ” he got straight into business , his plan having fallen into place perfectly , and bo being too thrilled over the fact to dawdle . “ i know we didn’t have plans to carve any more , but sonnet - and leaf too , apparently , though i didn’t see them - had a little stall up downtown with the last of their pumpkins , and she insisted that i took them home . i thought they’d look real cute either in here somewhere , or up the top of our stairs , don’t you think ? ” really sonnet hadn’t had to insist , the second that bo had seen the stall , his mind had concocted the idea of how he could present ian with his ring , and he couldn’t have rushed to pick out the perfect pumpkins any faster than what he had . “ oh , and i got you a coffee . ” he fetched the drink he had obtained for his partner before ian had the chance to himself , holding it out for him to take while he planted a kiss to ian’s cheek . “ a little treat to start of a real good day . ”

so, things hadn’t worked out between the two of them. did that really have to be such a big deal? did that really have to make things… awkward? maybe it wouldn’t have felt that way if they had simply left their relationship as it was after they had broken up as teenagers, in fact, billie was almost positive that they’d have a better chance of being on good terms right now if she hadn’t ruined things by going back on her word and propositioning him again after she had dropped out of college. she wasn’t proud of that moment- but she wasn’t ashamed of it either. in short, billie was just frustrated, and confused, and in desperate need of someone like bo right now.
life in shrike heights was hard, that much had been clear for quite some time now. life in general was hard, and the addition of serial killers was far from something that helped or made anything at all easier. billie was scared, and the fear wasn’t something she could easily deal with right now as she had so much on her plate when it came to her personal life in particular. that was why someone like bo was on her list of people she wished to be able to reconnect with. they shared quite a bit in common, but fundamentally he was so different from her; bo was positive, uplifting, charming, easy going and so much fun. billie didn’t expect that out of bo right now with everything he had been through, but she still missed him, even if it turned out he was completely and understandably changed.
billie just needed someone. that was the fact of the matter, and of course bo came to mind as she had been left disappointed by how they ended up. it was hard shooting her shot, even in a completely platonic manner, but her desperation was stronger than her reservation and that was how she ended up at the showtime counter with no intentions to take any videos home. “hey, i just wanted to bring you this comic.” she greeted, the comic book she handed over being a peace offering of sorts - though she’d never say it. “i heard you asking about it the other day, and we finally got it in so i thought… why not just bring it over? i saw you were working earlier, so…” she smiled, trying to overcome the awkwardness she felt. there was no reason to feel so awkward around bo, really.

bo turner had never been an overly nervous person, in fact, most of the people in his life would have considered him to be as close to care free as one could get. of course, that wasn’t actually the case, but it was pretty close to true for bo in a lot of ways, his care free nature co-existing with the very real troubles that most assumed he didn’t even have due to his attitude and general demeanour. this reputation of his was supported by a lot of factors in his life, but like most things for bo, it was influenced heavily by one factor in particular, a factor that happened to be a person, who happened to be his very best friend. bo was never nervous in the company of his best friend, rather, he radiated contentedness, happiness, comfort, and ease in his company. ian vogt was home to bo, he had been since the very first day they had met, no matter how inappropriate it had been for the small boy to have grown so deeply and permanently attached to his even smaller friend so quickly.
even through bo’s hardest moments, problems never seemed too difficult to face by ian’s side. even with the strain their friendship had been under when ian had been dating dolly, proving to bo that he was painfully interested in being that special person in ian’s life, and even as things grew more tense between them in the aftermath of their most recent breakups, he was so used to ian being the cause of his comfort. the fact that things had so quickly become so different forced bo into a predicament that he didn’t know how to navigate at all, to be completely honest. he hadn’t stopped thinking about ian since they had last spent time together, since they had been together so intimately for the very first time. it was an enormous thing to happen, for the both of them in their own ways, and how things had transpired between the two of them since that night was positively destroying bo. he couldn’t have been wrong to believe that ian had feelings for him, all of the signs had pointed towards the fact, especially the enjoyment both of them had gotten from that night. the elation bo had felt in that moment was completely unmatched, but having his best friend then avoid him like the plague - it was something bo knew he would never recover from, if he couldn’t remedy the situation as quickly as possible.
bo was counting on finding the remedy there in his parent’s cabin, though because of the great amount of pressure he was putting on the trip, he was more nervous than he had ever been in his entire life, even regardless of being in ian’s company. while the nervousness was unprecedented and uncharacteristic, in typical bo style, he tried to hide the extent of his nerves and his intentions, plastering an enormous yet anxiously lopsided grin onto his face as he debated whether or not it was cold enough to warrant lighting the fire. “you cold, iv?” he asked, not addressing the elephant in the room - unsure as to whether or not he ever properly would, or could. “we could light the fire if you are, i’m not too good at it, but i know you know how to keep it going,” fuck, there bo was talking about a damn fire, and even so he could still feel the tension thick in the air between them. he wondered if it was mutual, though he immediately dismissed the thought; there was no way he could know, considering the last time bo was positive that a feeling was shared between them, mutual, it earned him the silent treatment from his best friend. “or my parents liquor cabinet doesn’t have a lock on it here,” something ian already knew from previous time spent up here, “whiskey like, warms you up, right? either way,” he shrugged, “i wouldn’t mind a drink,” though unlawful, it certainly wouldn’t have been the first time that bo and ian drank together, and while he wouldn’t mind it if ian suggested not dipping into the turner’s collection of liquor that would otherwise go to waste in their absence, he did believe it could be good for the nerves he felt.

Closed starter for Bo Turner ( @urdamage ) Location: The Aviary around sunset
Tumblr media
Time seemed to move incredibly fast the older Ian got. It felt like just yesterday he’d proposed to Bo and opened up that new chapter in their relationship, Eight months later and Ian found himself comfortably living the life of a fiance. While he had a new title for his partner little else had changed for the couple. They were no closer to getting married than before their engagement but murmurs of ideas were starting to form in their head whenever the moment would arrive that they’d finally tie the knot. Over the course of these last eight months Ian realized all too late that he’d almost completely stopped dating Bo. Sure, they got take out and brought it home frequently enough but due to their mutual and individual traumas the concept of going out and enjoying each other’s time somewhere in public had come to a halt. They weren’t going out to movies like they used to, or bowling, or any of the activities they once got up to before the mall was built. Even though Ian was a homebody at his core he didn’t want to be dateless and he knew it wasn’t good for his partner to be as cooped up as they were. So Ian worked a few extra shifts at Pizza Time to save up some money to get a reservation at The Aviary to make up for the lack of dates they’d been on.
They arrived just in time for their reservation. Ian was actually in a button down (picked out by Bo of course) and looked far more put together than he had in a long time. Dressing up wasn’t his favorite thing in the world but even he knew he couldn’t show up to The Aviary in a tee shirt and jeans. As they approached the door Ian took a few steps ahead of Bo to ensure he’d beat him to the door as he opened it for his partner. “After you, my prince,” Ian proclaimed with a grin as he held the door open for Bo to enter the restaurant.

over valued/under valued mlb players in drafts 2023
imho of course...
overvalued:
Trea Turner SS Phillies (always ranked and drafted too high plus lots of mouths to feed in Philly)
Mike Trout OF Angels (too many injuries now)
Mookie Betts OF Dodgers (simply not as good in the NL)
Wander Franco SS Rays (seems injury prone)
Fernando Tatis SS Padres (seems to be a head case)
undervalued:
Bobby Witt Jr. SS Royals (will be a top 10 player for years to come)
Adolis Garcia OF Rangers (will only improve in this stacked lineup)
Alex Manoah SP Blue Jays (draft him instead of aging starters like Verlander who is often ranked 10 spots higher)
Adley Rutschman C Orioles (will get decent numbers from a poor position)
Spencer Strider SP Braves (will be the 1-2 punch with Fried for Atlanta in 2023)
other notes:
Bo Bichette Bue Jays (might be drafted a bit too high now because of his position but will be 2025 mvp)

May 10, BOS @ ATL, 5-2, Win
Bello appeared not to get the memo that all Red Sox starters are supposed to give up (at least) 3 runs and gave up only two in a solid start where I can’t find anything to complain about. The offense suffered from a few 0-fers but the Braves *checks notes* are a good baseball team and that happens sometimes. Thankfully, I think these Scrappy Rollercoasters are also a good baseball team (it’s taken awhile to come to that conclusion) and good baseball teams can pick themselves up even when everything isn’t firing. Plenty of bright sides, including the hitherto unmentioned 400 save milestone for a certain closer.
Kenley Jansen hit 400 saves last night, one of only seven pitchers to do so. He hit almost 99mph, throwing absolute fire. It was really cool seeing former Dodgers teammates and current Sox teammates Kiké and Justin Turner shower him with love.
As mentioned above, Bello pitched well, going six innings and giving up only two runs on six hits. He struck out five and walked one.
Winckowski threw zeroes in the seventh after the Sox regained the lead in the top of the inning.
Jarren Duran went 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored.
Tristan Casas put the game further out of reach in the top of the ninth with a two-run dinger.
As well as showering Jansen with love, Kiké and Justin Turner both knocked in runs as well.
We won!
Tampa Bay and Toronto lost!
The Sox have a day off after a pretty good road trip.

bo knew the rules of the radio station - bo knew most of the rules of shrike heights , as a matter of fact , considering he had lived there his whole life and even at the very least had connections in all of the new places such as those in the mall . he knew that the radio station wasn’t open to the public unlike most other businesses in the mall , and he knew that the security team would be greatly displeased if they were made to deal with a ‘ trespasser ’ rather than the real , genuine issues they faced elsewhere with the killers in town . regardless of all of that , however , bo still pushed through the doors , walking into the station as if he owned the place . having multiple connections at the radio station , bo didn’t really think that he would find himself in trouble , and honestly with the mood he found himself in today going in there was certainly worth the risk .
he desperately needed company . understandably , it was hard for bo to be in the very place where he had almost lost his life - and then later , where his partner almost lost his life too - and with his partner not yet back to work bo had to look for company - and in turn , comfort - elsewhere , unlike throughout the first half of his recovery . his eyes scanned the station for his friend , and though he was far from feeling better , far from breaking out of his bad mood , relief washed over him the second he found pj - just the person he was looking for . “ peej ! ” he greeted , immediately recognising that the song playing on air had only just begun , sure that his voice wouldn’t be picked up by any microphone and heard all over shrike heights accidentally . “ please tell me you haven’t taken your break yet - or better yet , please tell me you’re about to clock off for the day . ” he tried to keep his tone casual , leaning on the desk across from pj , but truthfully bo wasn’t sure what he’d do if his friend was unavailable and unable to take his mind off of the damning thoughts that lingered from his attack .

Yes, indeed, because It’s Pimm’s O’Clock. Cheers. Det skal du bruge (til ét glas. Er I flere, gange op og mix det hele i en kande) 5 cl Pimm’s No 1 1,5 cl Folkington’s sicilian lemonade (en dåse) Tre jordbær skåret over eller i skiver To tynde æbleskræller To agurkestrimler 1 appelsinskive 5 friske mynteblade En kvist mynte til pynt Masser af knust is Sådan gør du Tag et højt glas Byg det op med skiftes is og urter, frugter og grøntsager Hæld Pimm’s No 1 i, derpå lemonaden Rørt rundt og top op med mere is Pynt med myntekvisten (her: Falkensten Vin) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEUlYPUpMTb/?igshid=ecsh4obuztt6

closed starter for Bo Turner @urdamage location: shrike heights elementary, sunday, september 4th, 1988
It was impossible for Ian to keep secrets from Bo. Not only was the man the love of his life but he’d been his best friend his entire life. Ian told Bo everything, he always had, and it was incredibly difficult keeping such a large and long secret from Bo now. Unfortunately telling Bo how he was going to propose kind of defeated the whole point of the ordeal. This was one secret he’d keep from Bo no matter how challenging it had been and it felt surreal that the day was finally here. Ian’s acting skills were put to the ultimate test that morning as they ate breakfast and Ian waited for the call that’d draw Bo to Finn for the afternoon and give Ian the time to quite literally set the stage for the proposal at Shrike Heights Elementary. Once he sent Bo off to spend time with Finn (the seemingly highlight of the day) Ian put his plan into action. He was out the door almost immediately and the nerves he’d so expertly had hidden from Bo came bursting at the seems as he got in his car and headed for the school.
Tears rolled down Ian’s cheeks as the weight of what was about to happen overcame him. Ian dreamed of this moment for years and at one point in his life Ian had seriously thought he’d lost this chance forever. From the moment Ian met Bo he knew that he was his person. Their values aligned perfectly everywhere it mattered and they were compliments to each other when it came to their differences and after the hellish year they’d been put through by the universe and survived as a couple and as people who loved each other through the tears and hardships Ian knew he’d never find all of those traits in another person-- he’d tried and failed for years. Ian didn’t doubt his decision to take it to the next step even for a moment. All he hoped was he’d done it all sooner and admittedly he likely would’ve had his attack not thrown a wrench into Ian’s initial plans. Ian couldn’t dwell on stuff like that now he was too busy. Ian let himself cry and got out all his immediate feelings and pulled himself together once he finally arrived at his destination.
The set up went by in a blur with Donnie’s help and before Ian knew it the process was done and his friend was leaving him with his luck and well wishes for the event that was about to unfold. With the castelet constructed and his puppets and props set back behind the stage Ian waited with his set up in the spot not far from where he’d met Bo Turner for the very first time. His heart seemed to pound harder and harder as he waited for Bo to arrive at the school. Ian knew the moment Bo saw him with his theatre Bo would know what was up and Ian anxiously awaited his initial reaction more than he did for the entire elaborate proposal he had in store. Ian continuously checked his watch and found the minutes seemed to tick by incredible slow now that Bo was due to arrive.

11 June, BOS @ NYY, 3-2, Win, 10th inning
Ok, so the wins weren’t one-after-the-other, but they were still wins and the first (somewhat late) series between New York and Boston goes to Boston. I, for one, would be delighted for this trend to continue all season. In fact, there many things about this series that I would be happy to continue all season. In two out of three solid efforts by the starter, the team backed them up and scored more runs than their opponent. The starters and bullpens had their hiccups but for the most part were locked in. The Red Sox played like a good ball club because they are a good ball club. Sometimes. So we’re heading home with a series win, our first since Arizona. That’s awesome. And there are some bright sides too.
Bello pitched well, got into a little trouble but didn’t lose his cool. And that trouble was a shitty bounce on a grounder that led to two runs in the second. That sucks. But he didn't let it get to him, going 7 innings and allowing only three hits with three Ks and two walks.
The bullpen also locked it down, which is remarkable in that Nick Pivetta was one of those people in the bullpen. Jansen kept them in it in the ninth, earning the win and then Chris Martin, definitely not the one from Coldplay, got the save.
Justin Turner hit a dinger in the second, meaning the Red Sox scored first, which was nice. They also scored last, which was also nice.
Kiké went two-for-four and hit the game-winning RBI in the tenth, knocking in Adam Duvall (automatic runner). I’m still not sure how I feel about the automatic runner thing. My opinion shifts depending on whether we’ve won because of the rule or lost because of it.
Jarren Duran took a break from watching the teaser trailer for Dune 2 to go two-for-four and knock in a run.
On a night where Masa Yoshida, Raffy Devers and Dugie were quiet at the plate, we still managed to bat together a win.
We beat the Yankees! Fuck those guys!
We don’t have a losing record anymore!
We’re going back to Boston!

Fantasy Basketball pickups: Waiver wire adds for Week 19
yahoo
Large minutes and consistent workloads are key for possible waiver adds, and this week there are many players available who have large roles in their rotations.
By Alex Rikleen Special to Yahoo Sports
Terrance Ross, SG/SF, Orlando Magic, 48% owned
Since the Magic acquired Ross as part of the Serge Ibaka-to-the-Raptors trade, Ross is second on his new team in minutes and third in shot attempts. Ross is attempting 5.5 threes per game as a Magician, up from the 4.7 he was averaging as a member of the Raptors. All that extra opportunity has translated to 13.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 threes, and 2.0 steals per game since the break. His field goal percentage is .431, and it will probably fall – as a member of the Raptors, he was at best the fourth or fifth offensive option, whereas he is now a focal point of the Magic offense. His increased production in all other categories should easily outweigh the decline in field goal percentage.
Next week’s schedule: NYK, CHI, at CHA, CLE
[Join a Yahoo Daily Fantasy Basketball contest now | Free NBA Yahoo Cup entry] Willy Hernangomez, C, New York Knicks, 42%
The season-ending knee injury to Joakim Noah opens up a lot of opportunity at the Knicks center spot. When Hernangomez sat Wednesday and Friday with an ankle injury, Kyle O’Quinn did not start in his place. Instead, the Knicks shifted Kirstaps Porzingis to center, and kept Lance Thomas in the starting lineup as a power forward. The shift was not superficial either, as Thomas played 73 minutes to O’Quinn’s 36 in the two games. Monday, when Hernangomez was active but Porzingis was not, Hernangomez played 34 minutes to O’Quinn’s 15. All that is to say that, after months of competing for minutes, O’Quinn finally seems to have fallen definitively behind Hernangomez on the depth chart. Hernangomez is averaging 14.9 points, 13.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.0 steals per 36 minutes, and he is finally in a position to consistently see big minutes.
Next week’s schedule: at ORL, at MIL, at DET, at BKN
[Sign up for Yahoo Fantasy Baseball | 2017 Player Rankings | Mock Draft]
Maurice Harkless, SF, Portland Trail Blazers, 37%
Harkless’ 37.0 minutes per game since the All-Star break ranks 15th in the league. When he’s getting this much court time, he becomes one of those rare “1-1-1” players – guys who can get at least one three, one steal, and one block per game. He’s having his most efficient shooting season of his career, averaging 48.5 percent from the field, and increasing that to 60.0 percent since the break. His value will probably take a hit when Evan Turner (hand) returns, but that should be at least another week away. Additionally, the Trail Blazers have a favorable schedule, playing five games, including two against the 76ers and Suns, who are two of the most fantasy-friendly defenses.
Next week’s schedule: at MIN, at OKC, PHI, WAS, at PHO
Buddy Hield, SG, Sacramento Kings, 44%
Hield’s ownership has actually dropped over the past week, which is why he’s getting mentioned two weeks in a row. Hield was the centerpiece of the Kings’ return package for sending DeMarcus Cousins to the Pelicans, and owner Vivek Ranadive reportedly thinks Hield is the next Stephen Curry. In that context, Hield’s role in the rotation moving forward seems pretty safe. He has played between 26 and 27 minutes in all of his first four games as a King, an almost suspiciously consistent figure. Workloads that consistent are usually the result of a medically mandated minutes cap, which is not the case here. It seems reasonable, therefore, that management might be providing some pressure to make sure Hield’s workload is a part of a specific plan to maximize his development. Regardless of the motivations, he’s performing well in his new role. He is averaging 13.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.0 threes per game since the trade. In three of the four games, he scored at least 15 points and shot better than 50 percent from the field.
Next week’s schedule: at DEN, at SAS, WAS, DEN
Brandon Ingram, SG/SF, Los Angeles Lakers, 48%
Ingram’s value saw a major boost after the Lakers traded away Louis Williams at the trade deadline, helped by his 35.5 minutes per game since the All-Star break. At this stage in his development, he’s primarily just a scorer, though he also adds some value in rebounds and assists. He’s the second youngest player in the league, and he is still tiny by NBA girth standards. As a result, he’s prone to have some ineffective and low-scoring games, like he did Tuesday against the Hornets (8 points) and the Celtics Friday (scoreless). But he is long, athletic, improving, and has recently been handed one of the largest workloads in the league. Before Friday’s flop, he was averaging 13.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.0 threes per game since the break.
Next week’s schedule: at DAL, at PHO, PHI
Alex Abrines, SG, Oklahoma City Thunder, 2%
In his first three games after the All-Star break, he averaged 30.0 minutes per game, and scored 14.3 points while adding 3.7 threes per game. In the fourth game, the Thunder went with a different rotation, and though Abrines started, he and fellow starter Damantas Sabonis were limited to 10 minutes each. Abrines’ court time seemed to come at the expense of Doug McDermott, who shot only 33.3 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from three-point range in his 37 minutes. Additionally, the Thunder lost to the theoretically inferior Trail Blazers. And, despite only playing 10 minutes, Abrines still managed to make two three pointers. Altogether, the “limit Abrines to give extra run to McDermott” experiment seems to have been a total flop. It therefore seems likely that Abrines’ minutes will rebound as they did Friday night with 33, and his scoring and three-point production is unusually high for a player so widely available.
Next week’s schedule: POR, SAS, UTA
Zaza Pachulia, C, Golden State Warriors, 15%
Pachulia is only an option for leagues with 12 or more teams, but he has good value in those deeper settings. He usually only plays between 15 and 20 minutes per night, but recently he has been highly productive with that time. In just 17.0 minutes per game since the All-Star break, he is shooting 67.9 percent from the field, 80.0 percent from the free throw line, and averaging 10.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and 1.2 assists. That kind of well-rounded production is hard to find late in the season, even if none of it is superb.
Next week’s schedule: at ATL, BOS, at MIN, at SAS

The best wins of 2018 for all 30 teams
When we look back at the 2018 season, we see countless memorable moments from an exciting MLB campaign. But each club had one signature victory, in many cases embodying its season. With the help of each MLB.com beat writer, here is each club's best win of '18.
Angels: 13-9 win vs. OAK (April 6) Trailing by six runs in the second inning, the Angels' revamped offense came alive to fuel the team's biggest comeback win of the season. Shohei Ohtani sparked the uprising by homering in his third consecutive game, and Justin Upton's three-run shot capped a five-run seventh that put the Angels over the top. Full recap >
Astros: 10-5 win vs. LAA (Sept. 22) After giving up five runs in the eighth inning to spoil a superb 11-strikeout start across six scoreless innings by Justin Verlander and falling behind, the Astros rallied for their biggest inning of the season, scoring nine times in the bottom of the eighth to win, 10-5. Full recap >
Athletics: 13-10 win (10 innings) vs. TEX (July 24) The A's struck for 11 unanswered runs in the final four innings of a wild 10-inning affair in Arlington, pulling out a 13-10 victory over the Rangers. Stephen Piscotty provided the game-tying home run in the ninth, and Khris Davis delivered the final blow with a three-run homer in the 10th. Full recap >
Blue Jays: 9-8 win vs. TB (Sept. 20) Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Justin Smoak hit back-to-back homers in the ninth inning as the Blue Jays rallied from six runs down to stun the Rays with a 9-8 victory at Rogers Centre. The six-run turnaround was tied for the largest ninth-inning comeback in franchise history as Toronto sent nine batters to the plate; the win put a serious damper on the Rays' aspirations for the postseason. Full recap >
Video: TB@TOR: Smoak caps comeback with walk-off HR in 9th
Braves: 10-9 win vs. MIA (May 20) Facing a 9-4 deficit entering the bottom of the ninth against the Marlins, the Braves staged a six-run rally that was capped by Dansby Swanson's two-out, two-run, walk-off single. After Ronald Acuna Jr.'s one-out sacrifice fly accounted for Atlanta's first run of the frame, five straight Braves reached safely ahead of Swanson, who fouled off consecutive 99-mph pitches before lacing his game-winning hit to left. Full recap >
Brewers: 13-12 win (10 innings) vs. CIN (Aug. 29) There was the postseason clincher in St. Louis and the division clincher in Chicago, but the Brewers' wildest win of the year was Aug. 29 in Cincinnati, a 10-inning thriller that featured four ties and five lead changes, defensive gems and disputed calls aplenty, plus the first of Christian Yelich's two cycles in the span of three weeks. Full recap >
Video: MIL@CIN: Yelich records cycle with 6 hits, shows arm
Cardinals: 7-6 win vs. WSH (Aug. 13) The signature victory during the Cardinals' eight-game winning streak came on Aug. 13, when they delivered a blow to Washington's playoff hopes while resuscitating their own. After Matt Carpenter put the Cards in front with a three-run, eighth-inning blast, Paul DeJong sealed the win with his first career walk-off homer. Full recap >
Cubs: 4-3 win vs. WSH (Aug. 12) It was the kind of blast that kids dream about in their backyards -- two outs, bases loaded, trailing by three in the bottom of the ninth. On Aug. 12, David Bote lived it. The Cubs' rookie delivered a pinch-hit, walk-off grand slam against Nationals reliever Ryan Madson, setting off pure bedlam at Wrigley Field. It was the 25th ultimate slam on record and the first by the Cubs since Aug. 31, 1963 (Ellis Burton). Full recap >
Video: Must C Comeback: Bote's grand slam completes comeback
D-backs: 8-7 win (15 innings) vs. LAD (April 2) The D-backs trailed the Dodgers, 6-3, with two outs and no one on in the bottom of the ninth with dominant closer Kenley Jansen on the mound. After a pair of two-out walks, Chris Owings hit a three-run homer to tie the game. After the Dodgers took a 7-6 lead in the top of the 15th, the D-backs wound up tying the game on a Nick Ahmed double, before a single by catcher Jeff Mathis in the bottom half of the frame won it. Full recap >
Dodgers: 5-1 win vs. MIL (Oct. 20, NLCS Game 7) Rookie Walker Buehler started, series MVP Cody Bellinger and Yasiel Puig launched crowd-silencing homers at Miller Park, Chris Taylor pulled off a miracle catch in left field and Clayton Kershaw pitched the ninth inning as the Dodgers eliminated the Brewers in Game 7 of the NLCS, 5-1, advancing to their second consecutive World Series. Full recap >
Video: NLCS Gm7: Buehler, 2 HRs lead Dodgers to World Series
Giants: 7-5 win (14 innings) vs. LAD (April 7) Andrew McCutchen's three-run homer in the 14th inning gave the Giants a satisfying victory over their archrivals. It was McCutchen's sixth hit of the game, making him only the second player since 1900 to have six hits in a game with one of them resulting in a walk-off victory. Full recap >
Indians: 10-9 win (14 innings) vs. HOU (May 27) Down by five runs to the Astros in the bottom of the ninth, the Indians forced extra innings on five RBI singles. In the 13th, Yonder Alonso answered Evan Gattis' solo shot with one of his own, before Greg Allen delivered his first career walk-off homer in the 14th frame. Full recap >
Mariners: 4-3 win (10 innings) vs. HOU (Aug. 12) After saving three straight games over the Astros, Edwin Diaz was supposed to have the day off in the Aug. 12 series finale in Houston. But when Ryon Healy homered with two outs in the ninth to tie the game following Houston's three-run rally in the eighth, Diaz called to the dugout and said he wanted to pitch. Mitch Haniger's RBI double gave Seattle a 4-3 lead in the 10th, Diaz came on for yet another one-run save and Seattle notched an impressive four-game sweep to pull within four games of the American League West lead. Full recap >
Marlins: 2-1 win (17 innings) vs. CHC (March 30) Nothing came easy for the young Marlins in 2018, including their first victory of the season. In game No. 2, Miguel Rojas' walk-off single off Brandon Morrow scored Brian Anderson, capping a 5-hour, 18-minute affair, the longest game in Marlins Park history. Odrisamer Despaigne, who started the next day, threw a scoreless 17th for the win. Full recap >
Mets: 6-5 win (12 innings) vs. WSH (April 8) Shortly after Yoenis Cespedes flared a 12th-inning, go-ahead hit into center field early on the morning of April 9, the Mets closed out a 6-5 win in Washington to match their 1985 and 2006 predecessors for the best start in team history. They went on to open the season a franchise-best 11-1. Full recap >
Nationals: 14-12 win vs. MIA (July 5) One day after the Nationals held a team meeting, they had their defining win of the season on July 5. After falling behind, 9-0, against the Marlins at Nationals Park, the Nats stormed back for the largest comeback in club history, an improbable 14-12 win led by Trea Turner's career-high eight RBIs. Full recap >
Video: Must C Clutch: Turner gets 8 RBIs, hits go-ahead HR
Orioles: 6-5 win vs. NYY (July 10) This back-and-forth affair provided Orioles fans final, lasting memories of Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop. Three weeks before they'd be traded, Machado twice brought the O's back with game-tying home runs, and Schoop socked a walk-off single to lead Baltimore to a 6-5 win over the Yankees at Camden Yards. Full recap >
Padres: 7-6 win vs. ARI (Aug. 18) The Padres unveiled a nine-foot-tall bronze statue of newly enshrined Hall of Famer Trevor Hoffman before the game. Then they honored the legacy of the legendary closer in the best way possible: by winning in the ninth inning. Christian Villanueva's two-out bloop single into left field sealed the victory, setting off a celebration that included Hoffman himself partying in the Padres' clubhouse. Full recap >
Phillies: 7-4 win (16 innings) vs. LAD (July 24) Trevor Plouffe had a short stint with the Phillies, but he hit a three-run homer against Dodgers infielder Enrique Hernandez in a 16-inning walk-off victory on July 24. The Phillies' bullpen finished the game with 10 consecutive scoreless innings, with starter Vince Velasquez pitching the 16th. Full recap >
Pirates: 7-6 win (10 innings) vs. MIL (July 15) A week after general manager Neal Huntington foreshadowed a potential Trade Deadline sell-off, Josh Bell's walk-off double in the 10th inning capped a five-game sweep of the Brewers with a rain-soaked, 7-6 win at PNC Park. The Pirates' winning streak reached 11 games on the other side of the All-Star break, and they wound up buying at the Deadline. Full recap >
Rangers: 3-1 win (10 innings) vs. HOU (April 15) Bartolo Colon took a perfect game and a 1-0 lead into the eighth inning against the Astros at Minute Maid Park. Colon lost the perfect game in the eighth and gave up the tying run. But the Rangers came back and won it in the 10th on a two-run double by Robinson Chirinos. Full recap >
Rays: 6-4 win vs. BOS (March 29) The Rays trailed the Red Sox, 4-0, on Opening Day when they came to bat in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when they sent 10 men to the plate against two Boston relievers, drew four walks and took the lead for good on Denard Span's three-run triple to complete a six-run rally. Full recap >
Red Sox: 9-6 win vs. LAD (Oct. 27, World Series Game 4) The Dodgers looked primed to tie the World Series at 2-2 when Yasiel Puig belted a three-run homer to make it 4-0 in the sixth. But after Red Sox ace Chris Sale lit into the dugout for sub-par at-bats, the Sox came storming back for an epic comeback. The big blow was a three-run, pinch-hit homer by Mitch Moreland in the seventh to put his team within a run. Eventual World Series MVP Steve Pearce tied it with a homer in the eighth, and the Sox erupted for a five-spot in the ninth for a stunning 9-6 win. Full recap >
Video: Must C Comeback: Sox score nine late to win Game 4
Reds: 9-7 win (12 innings) vs. ATL (April 24) In a game where rookie starter Tyler Mahle had a no-hitter through six innings, it became a bullpen battle and a 9-7 walk-off win in 12. Scooter Gennett hit two homers, including the game-winner, and had a perfectly-executed suicide squeeze bunt in what became a nail-biter of a game. It was the first time in 2018 that Cincinnati earned back-to-back wins. Full recap >
Rockies: 2-1 win (13 innings) vs. CHC (Oct. 2, NL Wild Card Game) If any game embodied the pitching-oriented 2018 Rockies, it was the 2-1, 13-inning victory over the Cubs in the NL Wild Card Game. Kyle Freeland shut down a tough lineup for 6 2/3 innings, and the bullpen held on until Tony Wolters -- who had a .170 regular-season batting average -- delivered the winning RBI single. Full recap >

Royals: 5-4 win vs. CLE (Aug. 24) The Royals stunned the Indians at Kauffman Stadium, 5-4, on Aug. 24 when two rookies, Ryan O'Hearn and Hunter Dozier, delivered home runs in the bottom of the ninth inning off closer Cody Allen to walk-off the Tribe in perhaps the most thrilling Royals win of the season. Earlier that night, a water pipe broke near the Royals' bullpen in right field, which flooded the warning track and created a 30-minute delay. Full recap >
Tigers: 3-2 win (12 innings) vs. TB (May 2) What began as a pitchers duel between Michael Fulmer and Blake Snell ended in the 12th inning with a walk-off squeeze bunt from backup catcher John Hicks, scoring JaCoby Jones as Matt Andriese and Brad Miller collided chasing the ball for a 3-2 win over the Rays. Full recap >
Twins: 7-5 win vs. CLE (June 3) Twins left fielder Eddie Rosario almost single-handedly carried Minnesota to a win over the Indians, as he hit three homers, including a walk-off two-run shot off Cleveland's closer, Cody Allen. To make it even better, Rosario's family from Puerto Rico was in attendance at Target Field. Full recap >
White Sox: 14-7 win vs. KC (March 29) The season opener at Kauffman Stadium didn't exactly start well, with the Royals scoring four runs in the first inning off James Shields. But the White Sox scored the next 14 runs on the strength of six homers, with three from Matt Davidson and two from Tim Anderson for an eventual 14-7 victory. Full recap >
Yankees: 7-5 win vs. SEA (June 20) Gary Sanchez completed the comeback from a five-run deficit with a mammoth game-tying blast in the eighth inning and Giancarlo Stanton celebrated his first signature moment in pinstripes with a walk-off shot in the ninth, enveloped by his teammates at home plate as they celebrated a memorable 7-5 victory over the Mariners at Yankee Stadium. 2021-22 MLB free agent power rankings
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Much has changed since our last installment of these rankings back on June 10th. Six players signed extensions in lieu of free agency, none beyond Lance Lynn’s two-year, $38M deal with the White Sox. Trevor Bauer has been removed from the rankings, as he remains on paid administrative leave after being accused of sexual assault. Four players who might have been considered for qualifying offers were traded in July: Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, Anthony Rizzo, and Starling Marte. Those players are now ineligible for qualifying offers. Kevin Gausman, Marcus Stroman, Max Scherzer, Zack Greinke, and AJ Pollock are among those who are ineligible on account of having received one previously. The Rockies inexplicably retained Trevor Story at the trade deadline, so he will be subject to a qualifying offer. As a reminder, these power rankings are based on my projection of the players’ earning power. Keep in mind that the current collective bargaining agreement expires on December 1, though that doesn’t necessarily mean free agency will be frozen. 1.  Carlos Correa. Prior to this year, Correa had played 110+ games in a season with a 120 wRC+ exactly once, back in 2016. This year, Correa has avoided the regular injured list and is fourth among qualified shortstops with a 136 wRC+. Correa did go on the COVID-19 IL in July, but he missed only a week. Just 27 years old in December, Correa also has youth on his side, and appears headed toward a monster free agent contract. The $340M deals of fellow shortstops Fernando Tatis Jr. and Francisco Lindor will surely be a target. 2.  Corey Seager. After getting hit by a pitch and suffering a broken right hand in mid-May, Seager missed two and a half months. Upon his return July 30th, the Dodgers had acquired another of the game’s top shortstops in Trea Turner. Turner has switched to second base as a member of the Dodgers, but serves as a strong option at shortstop for 2022 for L.A. Seager didn’t have much to say on the topic, but clearly his negotiating leverage took a hit with the Turner acquisition. As for what Seager can control, he’s shown no ill effects from the broken hand. He’s got a stellar 134 wRC+ in 87 plate appearances since returning from the injury. Seager is only about five months older than Correa, so he too will be seeking a very long contract in excess of $300M. 3. Kris Bryant. 19 games into his Giants career, Bryant’s solid season has continued. The Giants have enjoyed his versatility, playing Bryant at third base as well as all three outfield positions. He’s saying all the right things about the possibility of staying in San Francisco long-term, telling Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, “It’s definitely enticing.” Even with a new deal for Brandon Crawford, the Giants have less than $36M on the books for 2022, so they could certainly afford Bryant. 4. Trevor Story. Though Story expressed confusion at the Rockies’ decision not to trade him, he hasn’t let it affect him on the field. Since the trade deadline, Story sports a 147 wRC+ in 81 plate appearances. 29 in November, Story isn’t quite as young as Correa and Seager, but he’s still in good shape for a contract well beyond $100M. There’s still a case to be made for Story above Bryant, and the Rockies’ shortstop has outplayed Bryant since June. 5. Freddie Freeman. Freeman has turned it on since June, posting a 151 wRC+ in 324 plate appearances. 32 in September, Freeman remains one of the best hitters in baseball. The Braves wisely held onto the 2020 NL MVP despite a 12% chance at the playoffs at the trade deadline, and now the club has a 77% chance according to FanGraphs. Braves fans continue to wonder why the club hasn’t hammered out a deal with their perennial All-Star. 6. Kevin Gausman. Gausman has scuffled as of late, with a 5.17 ERA and 10.6% walk rate in his last seven starts. However, he remains the prize pitcher of the free agent class, and he has seven regular season starts plus the playoffs to cement his free agent bona fides. Dating back to 2020, Gausman has a 2.94 ERA and and 30.4% strikeout rate in 205 2/3 innings for the Giants. 7. Marcus Semien. Semien joins this list for the first time, as he’s putting together his second MVP-caliber season within three years. Maybe his 53-game 2020 season was the fluke, and Semien really is one of the best players in the game. 31 in September, he’s a candidate for at least a strong five-year deal in free agency. Semien has played mostly second base this year in deference to Bo Bichette, but as a free agent he’ll be a consideration at both middle infield positions. Semien’s 5.2 WAR is only bested among position players by the incomparable Shohei Ohtani. 8. Marcus Stroman. Stroman, 30, ranks seventh among qualified NL starters with a 2.84 ERA in 145 1/3 innings. He succeeds on the strength of his home run prevention and solid control and is a candidate for a five-year deal. Stroman has shown no rust after opting out of the 2020 season. 9. Robbie Ray. Ray, with an identical WAR to Stroman at the moment, presents an interesting contrast. Ray’s 30.7% strikeout rate ranks second in the AL, coupled with a career-best 6.4 BB%. It’s truly shocking to see Ray with such a low walk rate, as he had baseball’s worst walk rate – by far – last year among those with at least 50 innings. He ranked the second-worst in that regard in 2019. While Toronto’s $8M deal for Ray has turned into a masterstroke, the lefty will be very difficult to value as a 30-year-old free agent. 10. Nick Castellanos. With a 146 wRC+, Castellanos has been the seventh-best hitter in the NL this year. He sports a solid 121 mark since returning from a microfracture in his right wrist on August 5th. Castellanos, 30 in March, has the ability to opt out of the remaining two years and $34M on his contract with the Reds after the season. He’ll almost certainly do that, and reject a qualifying offer from the Reds as well. Honorable mentions Max Scherzer, Carlos Rodon, Chris Taylor, Javier Baez, Michael Conforto, Starling Marte Scherzer and Rodon in particular just missed making my top 10. Even at age 37, Scherzer could land a three-year deal in the $100M range. But he could also seek something just above two years and $72M, which would result in a new record for average annual value. Rodon is having a season for the ages after being non-tendered by the White Sox and then returning on a $3M deal. However, he’s currently on the IL for shoulder fatigue, and even at age 29 he’ll be hard-pressed to find a five-year deal given his health history. Taylor, the Dodgers’ super-utility man, has a 133 wRC+ since the start of 2020 and will likely surprise many with the size of his next contract. Still, it figures to fall short of $100M.
NBA Meere gewinnt
23.5 Bos 57,5 Brk 32,5 Cha 35,5 Chi 28.5 Cle 30.5 Dal 34,5 Den 47,5 Det 37.5 GS 62.5 Hou 54,5 Ind 47.5 LAC 35.5 LAL 48 Mem 34.5 Mia 41,5 Mil 46,5 Min 44,5 NEIN 45.5 NY 29.5 OKC 50.5 Orl 31.5 Phi 54.5 Phx 29.5 Por 41.5 Sack 25.5 SA 44 Tor 54,5 Uth 48.5 Wsh 44.5
– Jeff Sherman (@golfodds) 8. August 2018
Nr. 1 Samen: Celtics, 57,5 ??gewinnt
Nr. 2-3 Samen: 76ers – Raptors, 54.5 gewinnt
Nr. 4 Samen: Schrittmacher, 47,5 gewinnt
Nr. 5 Samen: Bucks, 46,5 gewinnt
Nr. 6 Samen: Zauberer, 44.5 gewinnt
Nr. 7 Samen: Hitze, 41,5 gewinnt
Nr. 8 Samen: Kolben, 37,5 gewinnt
