Kind of pisses me off that nobody in charge of teaching us about the Equality Act ever elaborated on *why* marital status is a separate protected characteristic to sexual orientation/pregnancy/gender because in Ireland we literally only got rid of the marriage bar in the fucking 70s and so many people my age have no clue what it even is but then laugh about "why would anyone care if you're married?"
