Who is ApteryxDrake?
Hello, everyone! My name's David.
I thought my new Tumblr account might look less like a bot if I did a blurb post about who I am and what I do... long as I can find out how to pin the post of course...
"Apteryx" is the genus for the kiwi (bird), and us New Zealanders call ourselves "kiwis". My author name is David Drake, so, Apteryx + Drake. :)
I am a twitter refugee, I was mostly on twitter to promote my writing and my Minecraft youtube channel... but I ended up getting embroiled in a lot of activist spaces (which, actually on it's own was very good for my mental health), and wrestling with terfery (not so good for my mental health). Since about 2020 I've gotten a daily dose of harassment on twitter, and after the change in ownership the abuse skyrocketed, so I've been looking for other places to call my digital home.
I am here on Tumblr, however, to NOT get a daily dose of that bollocks. So I'm not interested in emulating what I had on twitter, here.
I just want to talk about my writing, Minecraft, and where those two meet. I would also like to learn how to just exist online without the pressure of that twitter-based "hustle" culture... which I am honestly terrible at.
Other than potential friendships and freedom to exist, I don't have any actual goals here, however, here's my current info:

After talking with his breeder I think Kiwi’s registered name will be capitalized the same way the actual scientific name is of the great spotted kiwi. So, Golem’s Apteryx haastii, not Apteryx Haastii like is standard in registered names. Just. Because neither of us can stand to capitalize it the wrong way, lmao
