when we wonder how political shows wíll get, folks tend to think along the lines of, like, are they gonna tackle freedom of the press? defamation laws? equal marriage? corruption? gender equality? and then here's only friends ep 1, and Cheuam comes in with this absolutely sick burn--

pm 2.5? yeah, air pollution, it was really bad this year, people sued the then-PM over it.

covid? We know. We know. (killed ~35000 people in Thailand directly according to WHO stats and ruined millions of lives because of the economic dip due to the tourism slump, and fuck knows how many more severely impaired by long covid or other covid-related issues)

But radioactive cesium?? surely … oh.

WELL.

This is my reaction basically every week so far, but it bears repeating. What a beautiful, beautiful mess.

Oh no no no Boston, you do not get to call Nick คนดี/khon dii after you just basically called him your regular squeeze.

The contrast between how Sand/Ray and Boston/Nick are portrayed is almost jarring. I love it.

Jojo and Ninew cameo!!

I was waiting for this scene!!! Ray really does need a shrink.

I love Cheuam and hope we get to know her better soon.

The friend group is so surprised that Ray is volunteering something that's not money! And that he seems sober and engaged! One word: ooof.

Nick pushing back!! Good.

Silent disco, huh. Mew eating all this information UP.

Nick is learning. It's giving Nathan Maloney learning from Stuart Allan Jones vibes.

Sand has their number 😂

Oh this pool party is going to be a DISASTER

Boston is SO bitter and I just want to learn how he ended up like this, like, whoa. I'd ask him not to deflect, not to lie to Nick, but that's clearly outside the realm of possibility for now.

Nick keeps asking questions he doesn't want the answers to or that he will be getting answers to he won't like, but he's also smart and this is going to go very badly for Boston. Unfortunately it'll probably also go badly for folks in the blast radius, which I suspect is pretty much everyone.

Sand and Ray flirting is giving me life, it'll hurt so bad down the line

OK, so Sand definitely knows SOMETHING about Top

Boston is terrible, having Neo play him definitely was the right choice because otherwise I don't think we'd be nearly as sympathetic towards him.

That bass line is anxiety inducing

I'm going to be devastated when Sand/Ray fall apart

Another repeating theme: at this point, shit hitting the fan is the basic setting; I need a better scale. I'm most curious to see what exactly Top and Sand's deal is, what that Ray-Mew hookup was, and what Nick is going to do with that recording.

Only Friends เพื่อนต้องห้าม Ep 5

I'm finally caught up and oh, OH, this was a ride. This was very much Sand's episode, and I have a feeling when he finally does something to disappoint me he's going to devastate me … and I welcome it. He's such a well-written character so far. Feels very, very real.

Ray … it feels like he's genuinely got feelings for Sand, but he's also very much not over Mew and NOT ready to put a name to or commit to being more than fwb with Sand.

Mew kind of grew on me even more this episode, except for his inexplicable-to-me attraction to Top.

I missed Namcheuam this episode and hope to see her more next week.

Nick trying to be more like Top this episode was awful to watch, Boston seeming to react to it in a positive way was possibly worse.

Boston is the epitome of 22-y-o "I'm just telling it like I see it" and doesn't care what or who he hurts in the process. At this point I'm pretty sure the fact that Neo plays him so charmingly is his only saving grace. And the person who filmed him? probably Drake's character. Wonder whether he'll get a name eventually … which reminds me we still haven't met whoever it is Papang plays.

ANYWAY. That' the tl;dr; rambling live watch commentary below. I'm going to dive into the tag and try to see what I missed.
