KH:ML Thoughts down below. Primarily from a story standpoint and new standard for side stories.
This genuinely feels like a.. crossroads to the series to me? I'm not quite sure how to put it, but I feel like the mobile spectrum of storytelling is doing a lot more harm than good.
For me, it's primarily the value of contained stories vs Episodic connected series. This has been an element the mobile atmosphere has primarily adopted, as in a technical way, content can last as long as it needs to. This has benefits of course, but on the other hand I feel like it can break out a lot of issues.
The biggest one being how the cohesion in itself takes a suffering blow as a result. There's no hard set plan they have to commit to, and honestly speaking, a lot of backtracing/second guessings/edits can happen in the room. (Not to mention there's no concrete update timetable at all for updates. I pity the workers, but this is p messy.)
I'll be genuine, even to this day, I'm uncertain if SE is going to dole out a KHUX/Dark Road/Missing Link 'timeline' so to speak, as they have this nature of making sporadic jumps in time for the 'Mystery' factor. (While the beginning in itself remains unclear) The difference between this between the two storytelling methods really began to stick out to me lately.
On top of that, youtube should never have to be a required source to have content experienced. This is going to become a really bad issue for new comers and experienced in the KH series. What's being experienced here is a form of 'gatekeeping' that's being ignored for a good chunk of years.
Spinning onward about this, I'm understanding on how this is a new chapter for the KH ends entirely, and from KH3, a lot of the eggs are being tossed into this basket. However, this is where my next issue begins to crop up.
Just how much is the 'real world' 1 for 1 going to be taken in this? From the story, the 'Astral Plane' from what I learned is virtually our version of Earth (and may hold it's own functions/differences) and that always tilted a very particular fear within me. Having the KH series continuity/story be woven into the 'Real world' as ours is something I've always been lowkey dreading.
Mostly my personal taste on the matter. I rather like many other series in their belt, this doesn't curve as the 'pop out the pages/video game' approach as the great grand beyond so to speak. It just leaves a really weird taste in the soul otherwise. Again, these are just impressions, but I truly want it's continuity to keep a key focus away from that level of 4th wall breaking.

As much as the new ascended kiss has me going absolutely feral, I'm a spawn girlie at heart❤️🥺🦇🖤 imagine spawn Astarion accidentally catching your lip with his fang. You wince from the sudden pain, though you don't pull away from the kiss immediately. It's Astarion that breaks from the kiss instead, a slightly worried look on his face as he can see the blood dripping from your lip.
"oh shit, sorry my love" he says softly, tracing his thumb over your cut lip tenderly.
"it's ok, I've definitely had worse" you smile, chucking lightly as you studied his concerned expression. A far cry from the man you'd met on the beach all those months ago. His self centered attitude slowly melted away as he opened his heart to you, protectiveness and love taking it's place in a way neither one of you excepted.
"well, at least let me kiss it better darling" he hums, tongue flicking over your skin to catch the bood before pressing his lips to yours in a gentle, loving kiss.
I'm just weak for spawn Astarion being soft and fluffy with Tav, I just needed to do SOMETHING while I'm stuck at work till 6 😭

what is force-shipping? (a PSA!)
what force-shipping IS:
guilting a partner into agreeing to a ship after initially declining the offer.
sending romantic or otherwise inappropriate (inappropriate because THEY SAID NO TO THE SHIP) memes despite them saying no.
writing a romantic or shippy starter/reply to a thread after they said no to the ship.
(listen this list will not end, let me finish this up with a very firm final remark:)
NOT RESPECTING YOUR PARTNER SAYING NO TO YOUR SHIP REQUEST.
what force-shipping is NOT:
asking your writing partners if they'd like to plot a romantic ship with you.
listen. forcing a ship is a conscious effort. if you're not able to respect your writing partners' decisions and choices when it comes to literal role play, then you need to step back and re-evaluate until you're able to do so.
BUT. you are NEVER forcing a ship simply by asking someone if they'd be interesting in shipping with you. it might be scary to ask. but once you respect their rules and boundaries, you're fine! there's never any harm in asking! just make sure you respect and honour their response, regardless of whether they say "yes", "no", or "maybe once we test their chemistry".

One day I'm going to dive into the absolute depth of Xehanort's presence as a singularity. From him realizing it, how life/death itself is also just another scale when it comes to the Heart, and the many, many ways where even his finality has a way it can take a voyage all the same.
It wasn't only Sora or the others who grew exponentially in this voyage of a finale. In kind, Xehanort also wound up making explosive forms of growth as well. In particular, his iterations in Remind and Melody of Memory, which was a Xehanort who could actively explore the Heart now, except compared to Sora, being part of the dead makes him restricted to really particular circumstances.
I think the final nail we've never got to see was Xehanort in his totality. Only just now of all time we've gained glimpses of it, but what about his Heart that etched countless secretly lessons into it through the depth of his travels? There were a side goals he carried in 3 that never really got explored in depth.
. Learning the fate of Subject X. In kind, discovering a central pipeline to not just the age of Fairy Tales. (He's already had Marluxia and Larxene if that was all), but a particular element.
. Through Xemnas as a proxy, unveil the gathering of those lost wielders of the old Keyblade past.
. His exploration of the 'Other Side/Unreality.' Through the 'etching' process of the heart, influencing his Terra-Xehanort iteration to give Kairi a task that was dual sided in nature. (The eventuality if the keybearer/Sora was either in the Light Realm or the Other side entirely.) Which to me, feels like a new plotline for Xehanort after getting him further attuned to those days.

In short? After becoming another victim of the MoM's machinations, and in turn a great threat himself, his own hand thrown into pushing disarray into the MoM's designs shouldn't be slept on. This IS one of the few figures MoM actively sought out himself. There's a potential he recognizes.
