Caroline couldn't help but make a surprised little sound. Honestly, she wasn't expecting him to drop everything for her like that. No matter how used to him she got, she never expected that. She was a neurotic little vampire who was so breakable in comparison to him. Maybe that was part of what he liked. She honestly didn't know, but the voicemail she had gotten a few days ago had been resonating with her. She sighed softly. "I'm okay." For now. But things always went sideways in Mystic Falls. "I just..." Care paused and shook her head as if he could see it. "You have to show me your favorite place in the world. That's all." What a lie. She was so sick of all the supernatural drama in Mystic Falls... granted, she didn't expect it to be much better in New Orleans.

"You know what @unitcd? You're right. So lets do this. How's the weather? Kinda nice today, huh?" She pretended to be above it all, above the charms, but why did she keep thinking the bad guys were hot? There was something psychologically wrong with her. Care was certain of it.

“Oh it’s okay, if we get hungry we can just suck some poor unsuspecting man’s-” Caroline’s brows shot up into her hairline, and she turned to face her daughter. Of course, her comment hadn’t been finished by any means. There was a key word there missing… but it was not the word that the fifty year old passing them on the street clearly thought it was supposed to be. “Blood.” That word she said much, much quieter. Care waved at the lady who was clearly in a huff. Tried to pretend she wasn’t the least bit embarrassed by the connotations.

Turning back away from the lady who stomped off, Caroline groaned. This was supposed to be a chill little shopping trip for her and her girls and instead one had run off and she was making inappropriate comments to the other! What a great mom moment for her. “Or we could just get smoothies. That’s probably a more parental suggestion.”

Josie was in her bad-witch-bitch era. Caroline knew it. So, it was a good thing that her humanity was off. It had been a while since this had happened. Honestly, she wasn't even sure why she had decided to flip that switch. Maybe it was the look on her daughter's face one day, or maybe it was a touch of mourning that she just didn't want to deal with. Whatever it was, it had happened, and she was dealing with it. Unfortunately, dealing with it meant that when Alaric supremely pissed her off that day, and she could no longer see a reason to keep him around (he wasn't a good father to her kids, and the longer they played at him being one, the worse he was getting)... she decided not to. Brows raised in curiosity as the door closed and she watched her daughter gather up magic. "Go on then. I love a show."

"Looking leads to touching leads to more, Klaus.” Caroline replied matter of factly, as if she didn’t get a little thrill every time she caught him looking. “And that just screams dangerous to me. You’re dangerous.” And she would deny that she loved dangerous until the last possible moment. Would deny that there was something between them to everyone… everyone but him. Because he already knew. “Look all you want, but keep your hands to yourself.” She added, though her lips may have twitched up at the corners just a bit.

“Soooo this is for you. Call it like a… happy early birthday present. Open it up!” Inside the immaculately wrapped box was a friendship bracelet lovingly made by hand. The match to which was on Care’s wrist.

Mind racing as she looked at @evolvingheartisms, trying so desperately to figure it out. Any of it. Caroline took a step back. While he didn't seem particularly threatening, she also... had no idea who he was. While he seemed familiar... every bit of him she looked at came up like a blank space in her mind. And not in the fun Taylor Swift Song kind of way, but in the terrifying, absolutely heartbreaking sort of way that had her looking at him with fright. "N-no." Care replied, her voice the ghost of a whisper. "W-who are you?"

Caroline swallowed hard. She hated magic at times like these. Compelled by it to tell the truth as she was, she bit her tongue. Honestly, she didn’t want to tell him the truth. That she wanted him. She didn’t want to want him! Finally, with blood on her tongue, she sighed. “Smash.” She mumbled, almost under her breath, and though she had been avoiding his gaze she looked at him once more. “I hate you.” Care added, but there was no real hatred behind the words.

     Caroline laughed. “We’ll get used to expecting the unexpected!” She teased, “what did you think we’d be doing today?”

     Her head was pounding as she roused. Thump, thump, thump, in tune with her heartbeat. Every muscle in her body aching to the same tune. Where was she? What had happened? She remembered being in her bedroom at the school and now she was somewhere on the grounds? Was this some sort of prank the kids were playing? Because she hadn’t felt like this in... well, in forever. And as she sat up and saw herself staring down at her, she felt entirely more confused. Bright orbs met bright orbs, “What the hell kind of monster are you?” She asked, the pounding in her head getting worse as she rose from the ground and took a couple steps back from herself. Monster or prank. Either way, she wasn’t happy. “W-Why am I outside?” The Hybrid asked, accusation ripe in her voice.

     She woke up in the middle of the night. Just like she always did when she heard footsteps approaching her room. She was at her bedroom door before Hope could even knock, searching her daughter’s face. “Did you have a nightmare?” Care asked, “or were you just hoping we could go sneak some ice cream and talk?” A small smile on her lips, Caroline brushed her daughter’s hair back. “Because you know me. Ice cream is the fix to any problem.”

“You came and I was longing for you. You cooled a heart that burned with desire.” Klaus to Caroline

     “How poetic.” Caroline replied, looking at him with a sort of pain in her eyes that she couldn’t quite understand. Was it longing as well? She though it might be. “You’re always so good at talking in that way that like... gives me butterflies when we’re alone. But I don’t want someone who can’t be just as good to my friends as he can be to me in private. Do you get that? I don’t...” But she did want him. That was the hard part about all of this. Caroline did want Klaus. Intensely. “I don’t know.” // @diabolusdilexit
