he rolls over in his bed, half awake, half way still in dreamland. the faint sound of his twin's voice echoing through his eardrums. he's piecing together the words fire & house, once he registers the sentence his eyes open & immediately see the tarantula. a gasp comes from the younger brother and he rolls over, nearly falling off his bed. truth  be  told,  neither  did  he.  the  visions  they  were  having  reminded  him  how  happy  him  &  elena  were.  it  reminded  him  of  the  life  they  wanted,  the  life  they  could’ve  had  if  damon  never  came  in  the  picture.  the  life  they  could’ve  had  if  she  never  turned.  stefan  hadn’t  felt  that  kind  of  happiness  since  her &  he’d  give  anything  to  have  it  back.  except  hurting  his  brother,  again.  they  both  loved  her  &  it  was  hard  for  him  to  let  her  go.  he  couldn’t  imagine  how  damon  would  handle  her  switching  brothers  (  again  )  “  what  if  i  don’t  either ? ”  he  counters,  green  eyes  gazing  over  at  her,  her  features  glowing  from  the  fire  that  sat  in  front  of  them.  god,  she’s  so  beautiful,  she  truly  made  him  happier  than  anyone  ever  could.  “ but ---  you  and  damon  just  broke  up,  i  don’t  want  him  in  the  same  pain  i  went  through  when. . . “  when  she  picked  him  and  tore  stefan’s  heart  out  from  his  chest.   a  hand  places  on  her  knee,  giving  it  a  gentle  squeeze.  “ but  i  also ---  ”  he  pauses,  shaking  his  head.  “ nevermind. ”
