maisel musings
I was rewatching the first few Maisel eps, and increasingly am coming around to the theory that Joel randomly cheated on Midge because ASP’s preferred mode of writing romance is “this is a couple that isn’t formally together for *reasons* but they also deeply care about one another and have a profound connection and it’s always very needlessly complicated and emotionally charged.”* She can’t have Joel and Midge actually be together, even as they are still obviously deeply drawn to one another, but she still wants Joel around constantly as a messy romantic foil for Midge. (plus, they didn’t know Midge and Lenny were going to be such a powerful thing at the very beginning).
*”also, all my iconic female characters have hang-ups over men who aren’t fit to lick their shoes.”

Day 1.
Oh how I would love to be as good as Neil Gaiman, Amy Sherman-Palladino or Dan Fogelman. They are the ones who created my latest favourite things in both literature and television. Their command of word is astonishing. They make me laugh and cry the most lately. They have been for a long time now. Of course, my love for language comes from many others, and my adoration of wit isn't limited by English-speaking authors only. But these three are the newest representation of what I consider funny, witty, and close to my heart. If I see something new they’ve done, I immediately run to read and/or watch it. Never once was I disappointed so far. Always a pleasure, and the excitement is akin to entering a toy shop as a five-year-old.

The 25 best TV theme songs of the 21st century
Who says the TV theme song is dead? Grab your umbrellas because Clint Eastwood is staring you down in the pouring rain waiting for an answer!
