btw if you haven’t watched this jacob geller video essay i highly recommend that you do. it discusses anti-shooter architecture in schools and how that relates to the way in which the worlds in fps games are designed with firefights in mind. his thesis regards the mental impacts of receiving one’s schooling in a building that is designed for the possibility that someone will enter it with the intent of shooting as many people as possible. less than 17 minutes, easy to follow, and hauntingly compelling.

I won't lie ur propaganda of rainworld made me go out and buy it even though I'd never heard of it. this game is so swag
YOU SHOULD be very aware it is a very difficult game by design, and the DLC adds A LOT of new content. The DLC almost entirely changed my ideas of some characters. This doesn’t mean it’s bad? It just expands upon how some of these characters exist and their motivations.
If you can’t buy it now, wait until it goes on sale again. Iirc it happens semi often?
I recommend adding a few accessibility mods. This does not make you a “bad player” in fact, I encourage you to cheat if you try like a billion times and still can’t get it. The community is really nice about that sort of thing and honestly if it gets you to keep playing and not drop the game it’s good.
ALSO. Never be afraid to ask where to go. It is open world. Do not get stuck in sky islands or fucking filtration ❤️❤️❤️❤️
On steam, go to workshop. Most of these are under the accessibility tag!
Accessibility mods below the cut, as well as quality of life:
SBcamerascroll: sometimes breaks, can slow your game down, but makes it easier to play when you’re in a big room and don’t want to get sniped by an enemy offscreen.
KeepThatThingAwayFromMe: get rid of animals you have a phobia of or dislike. (EI FUCKIBG SPIDERS)
OSHA compliant gates AND OSHA compliant shelters: makes the gates and shelters faster and more intuitive
Improved input config: on the tin
No friendly Fire 1.4: Scavengers won’t kill you trying to kill something else
Faster gates
Remix auto restarter: restarts the game after mod edits
Dev Console and Dev Tools
Simplified Moveset
Unshaded Citadel: makes a dark area of the game brighter
Emeralds tweaks and features: adds a bunch of accessibility stuff even for separate campaigns which is amazing.
Health bars
Less deadly rain: I only really recommend this if you need it. It makes a very nerve wracking part of the game less nerve wracking BUT I don’t use it as much as I used to.
Let there be light: makes everything brighter
Visible ID: toggleable ID so you can spawn specific creatures
Brightened items: if you have trouble seeing smaller things
Additional, fun ones:
Pups For Everyone: gives everyone slug pups
Immortal pups: your slug pups will fucking dye frequently and brutally to everything. Download this mod. (Doesn’t work against falling off the map, and certain creatures)
Dress my slugcat + mods
Clown Long Legs: it’s fucking scarier than the base game long legs. But fun!
