There had been so many ups and downs since that shitty day. The downs some of the worst they’d ever experienced, and yet the same went for the ups. A broken curse. A first date, finally. An engagement. They were still recovering from all the shit that had been thrown their way, but they were coming out on top together, happier.
Or so they thought.
But nothing good ever lasted, right? Ironically it seemed they kept running into bad luck, despite the curse being broken, and despite Seikyo’s curse bringing him good luck in the first place.
Hayate had been left to his own devices in the library today, seated at the front desk to watch for visitors as Seikyo had left briefly to run to the store. He’d have taken his fiancé with him, but Hayate was still recovering and was unable to walk for the time being.
Kuro had been MIA for weeks, and Aiko was... around, somewhere, maybe. Seikyo hadn’t been sure, but he had assured Hayate he wouldn’t be gone long. He had also been so sure there would be no visitors, as they hadn’t really had anyone come in for a while save for Lycus, but those tended to be friendly visits instead of book checkouts.
That just ended up being another thing he had been oh so horribly wrong about.
The bell above the door jingled as the door to the library opened, a usually soft sound seeming aggressive in contrast to the dead silence of the library. Footfalls muffled by carpeting as the visitor approached the front desk where Hayate sat.
A tall, sharply dressed man hardly spares him a glance, glancing around anywhere but him. Finally, his cold, intense gaze falls on the male behind the front desk, shade of green unsettlingly familiar.
“I’m looking for someone.” he breaks the silence, not specifying who it is he’s looking for, but it doesn’t need to be said. The person he’s looking for is nearly the spitting image of him, after all.
“Tell him I stopped by, would you?” He slips a sleek, minimalistic business card across the counter to Hayate with a name and number embossed upon its surface before leaving.
The name upon said card reads ‘Yagami Seiichi’.
