about :
Hades is the god of the dead, the underworld, and of riches. He’s knowing to be the wealthy god and lives up to that reputation in modern days.
As the gods of the old ways shifted into shadow, Hades adopted the name Klaus Mikaelson, and lives a double life as a multi-billionaire business tycoon –– and the king of the crime underworld.
Klaus doesn’t see himself as the villain, but rather the only one who took the life he’d been given and found a way to find purpose with it.
He resents the 12 Olympian gods, especially Zeus, for being looked down on and left out. Though he’ll never outwardly attack any one of them, he loves to play mind games and stir shit up for them.
He owns three beloved black dogs that many would assume to be Cerberus. In fact, their names are Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. His “three favorite bitches” he calls them as a joke.
The real Cerberus is himself. He’s able to transform at will into a large, wolf-like dog with three heads.
He loves to show off his wealth and revel in it as a means to inflate his self-importance.
He’ll be the first to remind people that he only governs the dead ; he’s not the grim reaper.
relationships :
@quinncess - Eris is his best friend, the two creating chaos everywhere they though. They can empathize together with what it’s like to be the black sheep. Hades will often times lay on her couch and rant about his life while she acts as his caring therapist. He’ll always have a soft spot for her.
@daphodils - Aphrodite is a complicated love affair. While there’s no real “love” there, he showers her with gifts and dotes on her as a way to have control in their sexual relationship. Knowing that it never works only makes him eager to try harder.
@sarcasmpersonified181 - Ares is a frienemy of sorts. Hades has hired him for his investigative work, but knows that often times, he’s the one being investigated.
@lannisqueen - Hera is someone that Hades deeply resents, because he knows that she understands better than anyone the cruelty of Zeus, but she continues to take it. Too often he’s tried to help her, and she turns her back on him, choosing Zeus instead. Although she infuriated him, Hades hopes that one day they can band together to take him down.

❖ Due to a plot against him, Klaus has been hexed to remove all of his memories. He wakes up alone in the backwoods of Louisiana ( a tiny town called Ludowici ), far from New Orleans. He gets a job as a bartender at a roadhouse on the side of a two lane highway while he tries to piece together who he was. It’s there that he goes by the name of ‘Joe’ ( not because of the actor but the song, lol ). Slowly, he begins to discover that he’s more than human.
❖ Klaus uses his newfound gifts to hustle people out of money and make a better living than the measly bar tips. He’s quiet and keeps to himself, but quickly develops a sinister reputation as not one to cross or be on the bad side of. Rumor has it, if you piss off Joe, there’s a chance you may never be seen again. Is this the hysteria of simple minded people in the face of a mysterious outsider ? Or is there a grain of truth to their theory ?
❖ The inhabitants of Ludowici share whispers of a curse on the town. The stories all speak of a vengeful creature that hunts in the swamps, though the subject ranges everything from a werewolf to a wendigo and even to a bloodthirsty witch. When bodies and carcasses start showing up, thought, these rumors grow tenfold.
➥ This can take place at any point in canon, meaning anyone’s muses can either know him or be meeting him for the first time.

❖ Let’s get the awkward out of the way : as much as I love almost every incarnation of Dracula, I’m not a fan of the Francis Ford Coppola movie. As such, this probably won’t play much in that realm. HOWEVER, I do enjoy the plot point that Coppola created in having Mina being a reincarnation of Dracula’s long, lost love. We see that pop up in other versions, too and I think it’s a great plot idea to RP with.
❖ I tend to default to a blend of Draculas based on the novel with inspirations from the 1931 film, the NBC TV show, and a bit of different flourishes I’ve picked up from different versions. As such, I’m willing to adapt him to almost any iteration of Dracula to fit threads. ( Yes, I even loved Dracula Untold, lol )
❖ I prefer to set this in the Victorian era, but modern times can be fun, too !
canon reconciliation :
❖ He’s the original vampire, though no one knows about his origins. He might have siblings ( I don’t want to exclude other Mikaelson muses ), but if so, he’s lost touch with them and hasn’t seen them since they were first turned. In fact, he’s become a recluse in his castle in Transylvania.
❖ He’s a vampire, BUT, like a hybrid, he can still appear in wolf form ( like Dracula ). He can also turn himself into mist / manipulate fog & weather like Dracula does in the novel ( since I think that’s canon anyway since Damon did that in TVD S1 ).
❖ He does not have a daylight ring, so he has to adhere to the sunlight rule like Dracula.
❖ If we’re using the reincarnated love plot, then the first version, Tatia, was in his village and complete devoted to him before she died. The name is from the show, but she doesn’t have to have the appearance of Nina Dorbrev.

❖ The Mikaelsons : Vampire Royalty. When the infamous siblings were mortals, their powerful witch mother, Esther, sought to protect them, thus turning them into the first vampires the world had ever seen. Klaus was only 17 when he was turned. Yet once it was clear the menace they were ( not to mention how easy it had become for them to turn others ), their father, Mikael, forced Esther to put them all under a sleeping spell. It had been a millennia since they were awoken –– coming into a world where their parents had amassed great wealth and power. As they attempt to navigate being teenagers in the modern world, all while trying to reign in their original vampire strengths, they're enrolled in school to help them blend.
❖ The Mikaelson siblings practically run their school, and completely dominate any of the vampire social rings. From the top-of-his-class Elijah, to the most-popular-girl-in-school Rebekah, and even down to the untamable, wild Kol. ( Finn and Freya have already graduated ). backstory
❖ Niklaus's true father is Ansel, a prominent werewolf Alpha who resides in a small village in the new western world. This is a secret that only his mother knows, though. He believes he's Mikael's son and endures cruel physical and mental abuse at the man's hands. When he was old enough, he moved out and started a farm not far from the Mikaelson homestead.
❖ A trait of an untriggered werewolf nature is unbridled rage, and Niklaus is no exception. To keep him from killing, thus triggering the curse and exposing his true father, Esther created a charmed starling pendant that he wears. This keeps him docile and meek, though as he's gotten older, it fights with his natural ambitions, often causing deep confusion and frustration within him that'll lead to violent outbursts.
❖ Niklaus adores his siblings, thinking of them as his closest friends and allies. He looks up to his brother Elijah and hopes to one day make his family proud the way he has. - Try as he might, Niklaus can't fight the fascination and pull he feels towards werewolves. Often, he'll sneak out on a full moon to watch them turn.
❖ Unbeknownst to anyone, he has ambitions to one day rule territory as an earl, or even a King, and overthrowing his cruel father.

❖ After the death of their parents, Klaus took up the role of patriarch and boss, suggesting they distill whiskey to smuggle into America. The business took off which led to Klaus’s ambition growing. By himself, he moved to a plantation in Georgia where he can grow rye under the guise for flour, but in secret to keep distilling whiskey.
❖ His tawdry reputation has followed him to the small town in Georgia, making him a scandalous new neighbor. To help his image and garner investors ( and customers ), Klaus has agreed to interview for an article written by George MacDowell. This leads the English gangster to meeting Emma, and becoming intwined in the MacDowell family.

❖ Niklaus Mikaelson was born 876CE in the new Viking territory of Normandy ( present day France ). Esther and Mikael were from present day Norway, but fled to Normandy after their first born Freya was taken by Dahlia ( presumed dead by a plague ). They settled in the small remote village of Ulvby in Esther’s attempt to flee her sister. The village, as it turns out, was a safe haven for local werewolf packs, led by the Jarl Ansel. Niklaus is the product of an affair between Esther and Ansel.
❖ Kept docile by the starling pendant his mother made him, Niklaus took to being a farmer in the village, still close to his family. He never wedded as his only lover, Tatia, preferred Elijah. He lived that way until he 28 when his mother turned him and his siblings into vampires.
❖ All relationships between the siblings and parents in the Mikaelson family remain the same. The following events are also all the same : Henrik dying / Esther turning the family into vampires / Niklaus learning his true heritage / Mikael forcing Esther to bind Niklaus’s werewolf side in a curse / Niklaus then killing Esther and blaming Mikael.
❖ When the siblings fled their father, Niklaus led them up to Denmark. There, he went by ‘Klaus’ and claimed nobility in being the son of Jarl Ansel. This opened the door for him and siblings to have shelter and ample food. Fueled by the unhindered, natural werewolf rage within him, Klaus became power hungry and unsatisfied with that stagnant life. He joined raiding parties and made a name for himself as one of the most ruthless warriors in battle. They called him Klaus the Mad.
❖ After a few years, Klaus made his way into present day Sweden where he conquered the village Birka and became the Jarl Klaus. Knowing he could never produce children or grow old, he eventually had to leave and lived the following century as a nomad, joining raiding parties where he could in order to satiate his blood lust.
❖ Eventually, his name became attached to more legend than fact. Some say that he’s no normal Viking, but actually a wolf warrior Beserker, Úlfhéðnar, named for the wolf skins he’d wear into battle. Beserkers were said to be more beast than man when they fight. Others even claim that he’s Týr, the god of war, in disguise.
❖ Growing bored of the raids, Klaus moved to Italy with his siblings shortly after 1000CE, where they found the vampire hunters in 1114CE.

He’s a joint CEO with his older brother Elijah of a multi-billion dollar company and is famed for being one of the youngest, self-made billionaires in the world. His ruthless and ambitious business skills have earned him a negative reputation, painting him in a villainous light. While he likes the power of having everything his father said he’d never amount to, it’s not the life he favors for himself. On the side, he’s a painter, though in that world he goes by a nickname and hides his true identity to blend in at smaller art galleries and little bars / hang outs.

◆ His was born in Mystic Falls, Va., though moved to New Orleans when he was still a baby. His thick accent is attributed to both of his parents who are from England. During his childhood, his family traveled a lot, giving him some experience and knowledge about other parts of the world.
◆ He’s had a rough childhood, so please be aware of general triggers : parental abuse both physical and verbal. His father was the harshest with him since he was the product of his mother’s affair.
◆ He witnessed his little brother, Henrik, die when the pair were mugged one night. This only fueled his father’s rage with him.
◆ Freya ran away from home when he was really young and barely remembers her. No one has heard from her since.
◆ His mother passed away when he was 18 and his father then burned down their family home in a fit of rage. The remaining Mikaelson siblings ran off, not wanting anything to do with their father. Finn took the death of their mother the hardest and he left the state and lost touch. Kol was a live wire and though underage, he was able to hustle and live on his own. Rebekah lived with Klaus until she was of age and could set up on her own. Eventually Klaus followed Elijah to New York to start their new business venture that would later result in their fortune.
◆ Klaus is the closest to his brother Elijah as they’re business partners and live in the same city. Though he fights with Rebekah a lot, he keeps in touch with her, feeling very protective of her. Kol drops in every now and then, always unannounced.
◆ Aurora was his first love who broke his heart. He also has an ex-girlfriend Katherine with whom he had a very terrible break-up that no one likes to talk about.
◆ While living with Rebekah in New Orleans after their home burned down, he also took in the young Marcel who was living on the streets at the time. The two became best friends, though their falling out helped inspire Klaus to move to New York.
personality
◆ He has a whole dual personality thing going on ( you know, like a h y b r i d complex, ah thank you ). The world knows him as the cunning and ruthless business mogul who isn’t above stepping on the little guy to advance his “empire”. His ambition knows no bounds, fueled by a need to prove his father wrong.
◆ In private, Klaus is much more sensitive and keep-to-himself. He doesn’t have many friends attributed to his deep rooted trust issues. He works through this in his art. He loves all kinds of art, but he’s a painter and sketch artist. He has a few of his pieces on display, though no one knows what the artist “Nik” looks like.
◆ He still has his trademark paranoia and anger issues. He also still praises loyalty above all else.

❖ Klaus Mikaelson is the middle child of a very wealthy and prominent family. His siblings all have very notable reputations ( Finn graduated top of his class, Freya is on her way to doing the same, all the staff love how good Elijah is, Rebekah is super popular and Kol attracts all the attention by always being in trouble ) while Klaus is simply the middle child. He hates being compared to his siblings and even more so hates the legacy his parents are setting up, so he rebels in his own way. He sticks to himself or with a small group of outcasts and pushes everyone else away by being a total dick. The only time he’s really happy is in his art class or being alone after school in the stadium bleacher, sketching the world around him.
❖ human threads : The Mikaelsons are a very wealthy and prominent family with power to pull many strings. Some media outlets have likened them to a Scandinavian mafia.
❖ vampire threads : His wolf side has been subdued by his mother, but he knows nothing about his true father’s identity. He knows only that he’s a bastard and his father’s wrath towards him has worsened tenfold. He’s still young, only seventeen since the moment he and his siblings were turned in 1001CE, they were the put under a sleeping spell by their parents until recently awoken. Hence why he and his siblings would be going to modern high school.

❖ After Klaus ( Hercules ) was born to Ansel ( Zeus ) and Esther ( Hera ), he was taken from them and brought to earth, being made mostly mortal in a plot set forth by Marcel ( Hades ) to stop the prophecy that Klaus will rise up against him. Klaus was raised as a mortal by Mikael, who was cruel and tyrannical in his fatherly ways. All his childhood, Klaus yearned to escape and find out what makes him so different from the rest. After learning from the gods that his true nature was repressed by Marcel, Klaus sets forth on a quest to break the curse and achieve his greatest potential so that he may one day rejoin his family.

biography :
Klaus Mikaelson is the middle child of the notorious Mikaelson gang Iocated in Birmingham, England. He and his siblings profit from the enterprise of horse gambling set up by generations past. Since the death of their parents, Klaus decided it was time to expand the business and took up residence in the family vacation home in New York City. He set up distribution of liquor from his siblings to illegally enter the US and sell them among speakeasies. Along the way, he bought and opened his own club, The Pack. To explain away his wealth on legal papers, he moonlights as an artist, using the shipment of said art to smuggle in the contraband from Birmingham. All seemed to be easy as pie for the gangster until January 1st, 1920. Since waking up that morning, he can’t fight the nagging sensation that he should have more than the life of a criminal . . .
[ note ] His present day situation is purposely left vague to be discovered as I interact with more people and have more inspiration come to me. As of now, though, no supernatural elements.

◈ He’s not an easy person to get along with, quick to suspicion and paranoia since the Mikaelsons have enemies around the globe, not to mention the local coppers.
◈ He’s the ambitious type that seems to never sleep ; awake at dawn to take care of business, but always found all hours of the night at his club or local parties to make connections.
◈ Despite seeing him at almost every social event, fun isn’t something that comes naturally. In his mind, he’s always working.
◈ In the present, he's very close to his siblings. In 1920, there’s a lot of tension between them and even in NY, he’s scheming ways to take the empire out from under them. Ever since Jan 1st, though, he has a split conscious about it, always second guessing his own motives.
