A Guide to All the Different California Commercial Fishing Permits
If you have ever attempted to fish commercially in California, then you probably know that there are several regulations in place that you’ll need to pay attention to. Here’s our comprehensive guide to California commercial fishing permits to help you out.
California Commercial Fishing Permit Categories Of course, the thing about California commercial fishing permits is that there are a lot of different ones, and you will need to pay attention if you want to make sure you get the right one. Here, you can take a look at the different categories so that you know what to look for.
Fishing Licenses in California There are three different types of commercial fishing licenses here in California. Here are the standards to keep in mind so that you can apply for the right one.
Resident Commercial Fishing License ($171.24) – For any resident 16 years of age or older who uses or operates any boat, aircraft, net, trap, line, or other appliance to take fish for commercial purposes, or who contributes in some way to the activities on board a commercial fishing vessel. Nonresident Commercial Fishing License ($504.50) – For any resident 16 years of age or older who uses or operates any boat, aircraft, net, trap, line, or other appliance to take fish for commercial purposes, or who contributes in some way to the activities on board a commercial fishing vessel. Commercial Passenger Fishing Vessel License ($443.50) – For any boat from which persons are allowed to sport fish for a fee. Commercial Stamps Another type of California commercial fishing permit is a stamp, which also comes with very specific guidelines for whom they are from. Here are the indications.
Commercial Fishing Salmon Stamp ($87.55) – For any legal adult who: renews a salmon vessel permit; takes salmon for commercial purposes; or is on board a vessel on which salmon are being taken or transported for commercial purposes. “John Doe” Commercial Fishing Salmon Stamp ($87.55) – For use on a particular vessel (can’t be transferred from vessel to vessel). The commercial fisher whose name is listed on the “John Doe” Commercial Fishing Salmon Stamp is the designated crewmember and exempt from having a commercial fishing salmon stamp. Only one licensed commercial fisher can be designated as a crewmember for each fishing trip. Commercial Ocean Enhancement Stamp ($63.60 ) – Required for commercial passenger fishing vessels operating south of Point Arguello (Santa Barbara County). Any commercial fisherman who takes, possesses aboard a commercial fishing vessel or lands any white sea bass south of Point Arguello. Fishing Vessel and Aircraft Registration Beyond the California commercial fishing permits, there are different kinds of documentation for the vessels themselves, which are of particular importance for any commercial fishing vehicle.
Commercial Boat Registration (Resident) ($443.509) – For any resident owner or operator of any vessel operated in public waters in connection with fishing operations for profit in California; or which, for profit, permits persons to sport fish. Commercial Boat Registration (Nonresident) ($1,315.75) – For any nonresident owner or operator of any vessel operated in public waters in connection with fishing operations for profit in California; or which, for profit, permits persons to sport fish. Commercial Aircraft Registration ($356.75) – Required for any owner or operator of an aircraft operated in the airspace above public waters in connection with fishing operations for profit in California.
File For Your Fishing Permits Given all the different kinds of permits, licenses, and stamps available for both residents and non-residents, it’s understandable that the application process can get confusing or complicated. Don’t worry, though, because that’s what the Federal Commercial Fishing Permits Center is here for. Our team can help you with any application process so that you can easily submit it to the corresponding authorities and receive the permit that you need. For more information about this process, or to inquire about any of the applications, feel free to reach out to us via phone or email. We are here to make it all easier for you.

Replidec - Use naive Bayes classifier to identify virus lifecycle from metagenomics data
Motivation Viruses are the most abundant biological entities on earth. The majority of these entities are bacterial viruses or phages which specifically infect bacteria. Phages can use different replication strategies to invade their hosts including lytic, lysogenic, chronic cycle and pseudolysogeny. While the determination of the replication strategy used by phages is important to explore the phage-bacteria relationships in different ecosystems there are not many tools that can predict this in metagenomic data. In addition, most of the tools available can only predict lytic and lysogenic cycles. To address this issue, we have developed a new software called Replidec to identify three most common phage replication cycles (virulent, temperate, chronic) in viral sequences. Results Replidec uses Naive Bayes classifier combined with alignment-based methods to improve the prediction accuracy in metagenomic data. We test Replidec on viral genomes with known replication cycle and simulated metagenomic sequences. Replidec perform relatively good both in isolated genomes (F1 score: 92.29% {+/-} 0.81; mcc: 89.14% {+/-} 1.22) and simulated metagenomic sequences( F1 score: 87.55% {+/-} 2.12; mcc: 88.23% {+/-} 2.55). Moreover, Replidec can also accurately predict the replication cycle in small viral fragments(~3000bp). In conclusion, Replidec can achieve the best performance in simulated metagenomic data compared to most prediction softwares including BACPHLIP. http://dlvr.it/SV83t6

A little rough on the landing of the Triple Lutz. Solid three jump combo. Turn out of the Triple Flip on her 3-2 combo. Not enough height on the Triple Flip, and she fell. A little off on the landing of the Double Axel. Only a Double Salchow.
None of the jumps were quite clean, and she did have the fall. A bit of a shaky program from Emilia Murdock.
87.55, 138.80 and into third place. Finley Hawk in first and Starr Andrews in second.

Whisk(e)y Collection Analytics
I have 61 bottles of whisk(e)y in my small collection, and because I enjoy simple statistics I decided to put together this little post about my collection.
Lets start with categories of whiskey. Scotch: 24 bottles - 39% Bourbon: 18 bottles - 30% Irish Whiskey: 6 bottles - 10% Rye Whiskey: 5 bottles - 8% Canadian Whiskey: 4 bottles - 7% Other American Whiskey: 4 bottles - 7%
Tumblr media
I think we should also break down the Scotches by category: Highland: 5 - 21% Speyside: 4 - 17% Lowland: 1 - 4% Islands: 2 - 8% Islay: 7 - 29% Blend: 5 - 21%
Tumblr media
lets look at proof, which is percentage of Alc./Vol. x2, so 40% is 80 proof (the legal minimum for whiskey in the United States) 80-89 proof: 32 - 52% 90-99 proof: 14 - 23% 100+ proof: 15 - 25%
Tumblr media
Lets keep looking at proof, specifically the high, mathematical mean, and low proof for each category of whisk(e)y. Scotch: 123 Proof (high), 87.55 proof (mean), 80 proof (low) Bourbon: 120 Proof (high), 94.3 proof (mean), 80 proof (low) Irish: 92 proof (high), 84 proof (mean), 80 proof (low) Rye: 100 proof (high), 94.4 proof (mean), 90 proof (low) Canadian: 103 proof (high), 85.75 (mean), 80 proof (low) American Other: 100 proof (high), 92.5 proof (mean), 80 proof (low)
Tumblr media
alright, now the mean of means: 89.7 proof
Tumblr media
Anyway, if you get this far let me know what your favourite whisk(e)y is at the moment.
