thinking about this one time when i was in the car with my mom and my grandma. grandma was talking about a group of people she played bridge with every week, and how she didn't want to play with them anymore. they are older than she is and not as mentally capable, and she gets extremely frustrated trying to play with them. So she asked for advice on how to tell them she didn't want to play with them anymore.

my solution was to tell the truth, and say that she needs to step away from playing because it frustrates her, and she doesn't want to snap at them and ruin their friendship over it.

And while my grandma thought it was a good idea, my mom immediately shot us both down and said "no, you should lie and say you have something else going on every week now. if they ask about it just say it's private."

idk if this is an autistic vs allistic thing or just her generation being fucking weird, but i can't imagine trying to solve a complicated conflict between myself and people i care about, by lying to them and telling them to just accept being cut out of my life without explanation. beyond just that, like... is she not worried about being caught in that lie?????? I don't fucking get it. weird shit. yet another reason i hate and don't trust that woman, she thinks that it's just okay to lie to her friends' faces i guess.

A crowdfunding appeal has been launched to help a 29-year-old Black trans woman who lost both her legs after allegedly being thrown onto NYC subway tracks by her boyfriend.
