Iocean to launch quad core phone

Shenzhen iocean Mobiles, a china based original equipment manufacturer, will launch its own Android phone range in India in March. "We are launching dual core and quad core handsets in New Delhi market through our Chennai based National distributor for Android devices. We will launch product on 10th March in India," said the company, in an email sent to The Mobile Indian. The expectation is that the Iocean will launch 5.3 and 5.7 inches dual core and quad core handsets where the dual core handsets will be priced between 7,000 to 8,500 and the quad core will come for a price tag of Rs. 9,000. I wouldn’t read to much into the resemblance. In the absence of any reviews it is going to be hard to say whether this tablet will function as well as Samsung’s smartphones. It will be interesting to see who will prevail in this race of budget smartphones in India, weather these chinese giants UMI, Jiayu, Zopo can get a strong hold of growing Indian market or will they struggle against the likes of Micromax, Karbonn, Spice in after-sales departement. One who would be able to provide quality after sales service along good solid device is surely going to be the winner. Though the price and the features do look attractive the major concern is the after sales support. Also these companies are selling their handsets via their website and are not currently available in local stores or from other popular online sites.

Hyundai T7 Android tablet

It is said that the Hyundai T7 comes with a sticker price of approximately $166, depending on the online retailer, and this 7” tablet packs a 1,280 x 800 display, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded via microSD, a Mali 400 graphics chipset, a microUSB port, HDMI output, a 2-megapixel camera at the back, and a VGA front-facing camera. Here’s the bad news. The battery is smaller (3,300mAh vs. 4,325mAh) and is rated at only 5 hours of operation. Worse still, the OS is Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. The tablet looks like a huge Galaxy Note II knock-off, which doesn’t help either. Running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it has Google Play Store preloaded, and so far has shown compatibility to run with majority of the apps from the Play Store. You can grab the Hyundai T7 from hyundaitablets if you’re interested, the store is offering world-wide shipping. Note: the hyundaitablets website went down just as I was finishing up this post. It should be back soon, hopefully with the deal still on the table. For $166 the T7 offers a7 1280 x 800 IPS LCD screen (another nice surprise, as cheap tablets usually go for WSVGA screens) and is actually better than the Nexus 7 in several areas.

Hyundai X900 is a quad-core tablet

Hyundai’s latest Android tablet looks pretty good on paper. It has a speedy Rockchip RK3188 ARM Cortex-A9 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and an iPad-like 9.7 inch, 2048 x 1536 pixel display. Under the hood the Hyundai X900 quad-core tablet has much of the same hardware as the Cube U30GT2 I reviewed (and really liked… aside from the poor WiFi performance) recently. But it has at least one key difference: Hyundai’s tablet has a higher resolution display. It’s hard to say if that’s the reason all the demo videos I’ve seen for this tablet show a device that seems a bit sluggish at times. While the tablet seems to score well in the Antutu benchmark, there seems to be a bit of lag sometimes when the handlers are trying to scroll or zoom — especially when using the web browser. That said, the folks at Chinese site Padhz have posted a detailed review and report that the Hyundai Z900 quad-core tablet gets good battery life, decent WiFi reception, and better performance than Retina-display tablets with slower chips like the Allwinner A31 ARM Cortex-A7 quad-core CPU. It’s also beta firmware, so there are also links to the stock software in case you encounter problems and want to go back to Android 4.0. It runs Google Android 4.0 and features WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. I don’t know if the Hyundai T7 is officially certified by Google, but it comes with the Google Play Store preloaded and runs most apps available from Google’s app marketplace.

SAR value of iocean x7 and its variants is around 0.2w/kg which is much lower than the standard 2.0 w/kg. This is the claim of iOcean Digital but I couldn’t verify it anywhere else.
