Just to add to the timeline confusion in Zoo Balloon Melissa says “watching you snap into Super Barbara mode, that really took me back to when we started working at abbott.”
To which Barb says “that was back when I used to dress like Janine.”
Am I meant to be thinking that Barbara Howard dressed like a 25 year old Janine in 2009?? I always took that line to imply it was a long time ago since she very much doesn’t dress like that now and Janine’s s1 dress sense is very much influenced by not knowing how best to style things yet, so I assumed Barbara was similar too and therefore not very old. Could Barbara’s style really have changed that much in 15 years?
So maybe I guess they’ve been working together at Abbott for a long time, but only been friends for ~15 years.
Or do the writers not even know.
Because it feels like it should be closer to 25.
what is interesting is talking to someone who isnt a barlissa shipper and doesnt even see it but sees them as work wives yes. But not work wives that do much outside of the four walls of the school. mayyyybe a drink after somewhere. But not an invite to the house. Knowing about the partners is in passing, but they don’t really know the other’s partner except through stories. It’s not aunt melissa, it’s my mom’s friend at work. Or maybe it’s literally i dont know who you are talking about and the reminder that melissa is someone from work.
It’s “where are your cups again?” because they’ve only been to the other’s house once many moons ago. It’s not “yeah, I’ll drop it by your place on Saturday” it’s “I’ll bring it Monday, remind me.”
