Ideas for Fantasy Races, a Rough Draft.
Dwarves:
As an adaptation to their subterranean environment, their skin looks like the stone in the surrounding area, and their hair looks like the metals or gems found there. Their short stature makes exploring otherwise cramped caves easier.
As a sign of submission, a dwarf of lower status may braid the hair of a dwarf of higher standing to gain favor with them. Dwarves will present a gift of the best product they can make as a peace offering, this extends to kingdoms presenting each other with the best armor, weapons, furniture, and potions their kingdom can make. As a sign of war or conflict, a dwarf will cut their hair and send it to the one they have a quarrel with.
Dwarven blood is black, viscous, and glitters slightly. It glows when exposed to air that is filled with mineral remains, resulting in dwarves glowing faintly when close to minerals and gems.
Elves:
As an adaptation to the forests they live in, their skin will resemble the bark of surrounding trees, and their hair will resemble the leaves and/or flowers of those same trees. They are tall and whip-thin, allowing easy access to any fruits that these trees may bare.
As a sign of submission, an elf will submit themselves to a superior, and said superior will braid their hair in intricate ways, often with a pattern that represents the superior Elf's family. Elves will cut their hair and braid it into an intricate weave, presenting it as a peace offering. When an elf has a quarrel with another, they will send a knife or another type of weapon to the offender. In Elven queendoms, this elevates to sending the full kit that one of their soldiers would wear to the offending queendom.
Elven blood strongly resembles honey but is DEADLY poisonous when untreated to most races excluding those who are at least part elvish, it is also used (usually by elves themselves) to make potions of cure poison.
Gorks:
Gorks covered with a thick bristly hide, they resemble bipedal Boars. Male Gorks, known as Goblins, have two sets of tusks, are short, and have green eyes. Females, known as Orks have one set of tusks, are tall and large, and have yellow eyes. Gorks are commonly found in the foothills surrounding mountains living in burrows. Gorks are obligate carnivores.
Gorks show submission by bowing, for a Gork ruler, if they cannot bow to the other in person, they will send them a tusk, often carved into a knife. This tusk likely broke off during a fight or while they were grinding it on a rock to prevent it from growing too large. When they have a quarrel with another they will send them a necklace made from the bones of their last meal.
Gork blood is golden and turns pitch black when exposed to gold.
Humans:
As an adaptation to the excessive amount of Necrotic magic that fills nearly everything on their home continent, a human will strongly resemble a skeleton, however, they still have hair, including facial hair. The bone-like exoskeleton that covers their bodies is occasionally shed like a deer's antlers and the left behind material is highly resistant to Necrotic magic
Nothing about human behavior is changed from real life, other than a few things regarding their exoskeleton.
A human's first shed exoskeleton is usually kept as a keepsake by parents. A human will send things made from shed exoskeletons as a peace offering, for example, a human senate may send armor, cutlery, weapons, and jewelry made from each senate member's most recently shed exoskeletons. As a sign of war, a human senate will send a chosen member's most recently shed exoskeleton, imbued with Radiant magic that will emit a cleansing wave of Radiant magic that will destroy any Necrotic magic below the strength of a Lich's Phylactery in a 5-mile (~8 km) radius.
Human blood is red, but when exposed to Necrotic magic it begins to glow with Radiant magic, often times the blood of a human is used to destroy a Litch due to its Radiant properties. More recently, 'Litch Lanterns' began being sold by humans to the other races to help them find and destroy Necrotic magic and undead. These 'Litch Lanterns' are made with a human's blood, and will glow when Necrotic magic is in the air, glowing brighter the more Necrotic magic is in the air.
