The things we grow to care about, that leave an indelible mark, come and go throughout our lives. When the final page of a chapter comes, take a deep breath, and carry what you gained onto the next.

Why do you like fiction?: I enjoy fiction because if find reality boring. real life simply doesn't have the fantastical concepts, impossible settings and crazy technology that fiction does. Fiction provides an escape from the standards of reality. I get to experience something that would never be possible in my life.

Do you feel like escaping in a fictional place help you in your everyday life?: I guess that depends on your definition of "help". I honestly don't know what would happen if I went the rest of my life without a fictional escape, as it's such an integral part of my day to day. but I assume my days would be considerably less interesting.

Are there fictional places where you'd love to be able to live in for real? Why?: Oh, absolutely! I would love to live in the Star Wars galaxy. It's such a diverse and expansive universe. I've spent so much time exploring it from behind a monitor, I would love to experience it IRL. Having the force and piloting a starfighter sounds pretty epic too ngl. the world of Remnant would also be a interesting place to live, sure it would be dangerous, but so would the Star Wars universe, I'd wanna experience what it's like to have a semblance, learn the properties of dust, and see all the amazing locations from the show in person. There are a few other places i could list but this is getting pretty long, so I'll cut it off here.

What is nature's place in your life?: I'm not sure. I've never really thought about it before. Sure it can be pretty, dangerous, mysterious, and more, but I've never really felt one way or another about it.

I think about the writers who stopped writing because people went after them.

I think about the new reader who got scared off from commenting because they might say the wrong thing.

I think about the artist who was going to dip their toes in, but saw a blacklist posted and debated in the fandom they so recently were excited about.

I think about all the people who would be here with us, writing meta and squeeing and creating and lifting up creators. Who became ghosts, afraid that to speak up is to stick out your neck.

How many stories won't we get to read, how many pieces of art won't take our breath away, how many comments won't be put in notes or on stories that push us through our blocks... because anger and pettiness and jealousy and aggression are so common in fandoms that so many become ghosts before their time, and the ones who stick through it are still healing from their battle scars?

I mourn all the stories I will never see, all the friends I will never make, all the headcanons that will never bring stars to my eyes.

And I hope that all those who went quiet before they could speak will find a place to be safe, so that one day I may hear their voice.
