i am not 'alternative'. i am not 'goth'. i am a series of misunderstood philosophical concepts i have gained a vague understanding of through the internet, and an assortment of both positive and negative character traits i have copied from my comfort characters over the years. PLEASE stop assuming otherwise

When Todd says "It's beautiful" right before immediately throwing up, it's a parallel of what Neil did. At first you may think it's beautiful or "romantic" to be faced with the idea chosen death ( represented by snow), but when you're faced with the outcome, the inescapable cold burden of reality, the harsh and frostbite-inducing void, it's terrifying.
Beauty is Terror, after all.
(bruh I didn't even read Secret History)

who’s interested in reading my 2000 word analysis on dead poets society? if yes, like this post and i’ll dm the google doc and if more than 2 people are interested i’ll reblog this with the link :)
edit: here’s the link!!
id appreciate it if you either reblogged this and if you want to show the essay to someone else, direct them to this post rather than just sending them the link bc i’d like it to be known who wrote it :) also you can add comments if you like, any and all feedback is appreciated.

"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?" Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play *goes on* and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?"
-John Keating; Dead Poets Society
