Things Draco Malfoy has Done in the Muggle World During His Postwar Probation
Attempted to order from a menu by speaking to it
Almost breached the Statute of Secrecy due to mistaking someone using clap-on-clap-off lights for a muggleborn using wandless magic
Got into a heated argument with the actors in a commercial because he thought the people in the tv were talking to him
Refused to walk in front of a car for fear of bumping into the invisible animals that obviously pull it
Panicked and responded "I have no idea what you're talking about" when asked what the "magic word" is
Complained that his telephone is broken because it periodically emits a loud ringing sound for no apparent reason
Run into Harry Potter unexpectedly in a pub, dropped everything he was holding, and automatically caught it with wandless magic without thinking, thus breaching the Statute of Secrecy in front of 47 muggles and the most famous Auror in Britain
Run into Harry Potter again in the same pub, thanked him for getting him out of those misuse of magic charges and apologized (again) for all of the more unpleasant bits of their history
Accidentally on purpose run into Harry Potter yet again in the same pub to find out why he comes to muggle London so often and how he's doing and to let him know that he's not remotely interested in whether the rumors in the Daily Prophet that he's split up with Ginny Weasley are true (they are)
Met Harry Potter in a pub for drinks to chat about old times except not the sad bits at least until they've had a few
Taken his muggle friends out to a pub that he definitely chose at random but which coincidentally Harry Potter also happens to be walking into so they might as well all sit down together
Had to admit that he may have mentioned him a few times when Harry is shocked to discover that all of Draco's muggle friends seemingly know his name despite the fact that he isn't famous in the muggle world
Met Harry and Harry's friends for drinks and somehow actually had a good time and not been vengefully poisoned by Ron Weasley or cursed by Hermione Granger or stabbed by Neville Longbottom or anything else dreadful
Had to explain to several bemused people that when Luna Lovegood says that they used to live together she doesn't mean they were involved romantically
Invited Harry Potter back to his flat and proudly shown him that he now knows how to make a telephone stop ringing (you just lift it up for a moment and then slam it back down and that fixes it) and then told him off for laughing
Visited Harry Potter at his flat, also in muggle London though protected by the Fidelius Charm for extra privacy, met a very small and excitable owl and had a protracted but good natured argument about which of them was actually better at Quidditch (because obviously if Draco had had a Firebolt he would have won every match)
Got his wand back and immediately transfigured everything in his flat just because he can and because it feels so good to use magic again and then cast Rictusempra on Harry because clearly Draco is the superior dueler and also because he likes the sound of Harry's laugh
Kissed Harry Potter.

Thank you so much for this absolutely gorgeous rec, i almost teared up reading it. I wrote NATG at such a tough time and honestly i hardly remember a lot of it, so it's amazing to know that people are still reading and enjoying it and taking the time to write something like this. It was my first fic and I remember feeling proud of the pacing and the tension, so reading this was so lovely. One day i will bite the bullet and do a real thorough reread (i've got my bound copy, there's no real excuse)!

When I first read the summary, I thought to myself that I'll be happy as long as it isn't as trite as Legends and Lattes. Boy was that a low bar I set.
I was on the ride with draco the whole time, even when I was screaming at him to not make that giant delusional mistake. But the knot in my stomach kept getting tighter and tighter and the entire first half of the book felt like watching a train crash in real time.
And then everything changed. It was slow, and syrupy, and confused, and it hurt. Not a single character was safe; there were difficult choices about morality and justice and putting in the work and making reparations and heartbreak all around, and then there was healing. It was still complicated, but we were all okay.
This story is clearly a labor of love. It's impeccably paced and intricately detailed (also! The chapter header drawing thingies! Ah!). It's about addiction and sobriety and free will and love. It's about how love can hurt and it can heal, and this fic did both for me.

Hey Liv,
My friend had the most chaotic day today. She left on holiday and ended up packing at the last minute. Cue bags overflowing in every room, a dog to get into the car, a kid to pick up at daycare and no time to spare.
THEN her husbandās car broke down so she had to go pick him up almost two hours away with both dog and baby in the backseatā¦.
All this so say: she might need a pick me up.
Do you have a Drarry rec where either of them (or both) are absolute chaos/ are under a bad luck spell /ā¦?

Heyyy, hope you have a safe trip home! Iām curious to know if youāve ever written your own fics, and if you were to write a fic, what kind of a story would you plan and write? š
Thank you my friend! Great ask, and this might shock some people but Iāve never considered writing a fic, ever. I think mainly because I donāt trust my English skills for that kind of adventure lol the only type of writing I can pull off are essays. I wouldnāt even know where to begin with a fictional work, I get stressed just thinking about the amount of world building, character development, dialogue! Iāve never felt the urge to try my hand at it and it all feels very foreign. Iām also not particularly creative so I think Iād be a very unhappy and frustrated writer - I much prefer reading other peopleās ideas instead of coming up with my own headcanons - probably one of the reasons why I rarely prompt for fests š¤£ so itās not in the plans at all for me but if I were to adventure myself it would most def be a short, chaotic horny PWP. As a lil treat š

race winner who got himself to a top team and is beating his world champion teammate, a cool older handsome charismatic guy with a giant smile and big brown eyes, beloved and kind while still being fiercely talented, competitive, and hungry? the guy who you met in 2011 and who gave you the time of day before you were old enough to sniff at the f1 grid. he's not even going to be your actual teammate (yet), but he still takes the time to tell you he's looking forward to seeing you on the grid when so much of what you've heard is nonstop criticism.

this is live footage of daniel ricciardo becoming a permanent fixture in max's spank bank. it's one of those foundational crushes you have at a young age that sticks with you for life and unconsciously affects "your type" forever and never truly goes away.
also, i just think everyone should hear the way max very softly says "he's a really nice guy, yeah" with so much affection packed into every word.
how are you not to psychosexually imprint on him? one look at that video and max was ready to risk it all. he's been metaphorically tucking his hair, kicking his feet, and giggling since day one. he found a guy who he could race hard, who would challenge him on track, but who would still make the miserable pr days better for them, who was always laughing at max's jokes every time he did his little glance over to ensure it landed. max is so fiercely loyal to his people, and daniel has clearly earned that trust.
tldr: max verstappen is number one dirlie and if he were on f1blr, he would be writing long posts with onboards, data, and that āļøš¤ attitude of his explaining in detail why everyone is wrong about daniel, and i hope it haunts all the max fans who get their rocks off to calling daniel a washed asshole loser that max's porn folder is daniel late braking compilations.

Iām looking for a drarry fic posted on ao3. There Harry finds Draco working with magical creatures and he keeps coming back to chat and to help Draco, but he only later realizes that itās not just a regular job for Draco as the Ministry took away his wand and holds him there as a punishment for his role in the war. When Harry finds out he tells Hermione and they try to save Draco.

The Bolthole by aideomai and Tepre
I bound this fic a month or two ago for the Renegade Guildās Pacific Northwest server exchange, and it finally reached the recipient. Itās a lovely Drarry fic about a hoarder Harry who lives in a cottage, and Draco comes to stay with him. I printed the cover design with a laser printer on Japanese book cloth, and I was delighted with how it gave it the feel of a much older book.
The endpapers are homemade paste papers, with the book edges painted to match.

The Pattern: I very, very much see a pattern here š¬. Otherwise, theyāre all brief! Rereading these Iām also remembering what the original first sentences of these fics were, which I usually cut to get to the action faster. e.g. OORU was Harry walking to practice which was way less exciting than him actually being in the boat.

This is trickier as this was a collab and @sweet-s0rr0w wrote the start, so my first line isn't the opener. Still I'll post it here, I think it was this one.

Harry hadnāt thought the sling thing through before he left the house, and now his whole back is aching and he keeps whacking people with the unwieldy changing bag that wonāt stop slipping off his shoulder.

Conclusion: hmmm I'm not in love with some of these tbh. I have been trying different things in the last year as my main focus is on a long WIP. So no real stylistic coherence. I'm reasonably happy with most of these fics (though not all, i say, eyeing one or two resentfully) but not sure that any of that necessarily translates into the first lines.
