Reason: Missing dedicated server information Multiplayer co-op is available in Astroneer for up to 4 players using clients on different platforms: PS4 with PS4, Steam and Steam, Switch with Switch. Crossplay is only accessible using the Xbox and Windows Store versions.

Take note of the following:

- Playing in multiplayer mode requires that all players connected to be using the exact identical version of the game. The game's host could experience performance issues because their computer processes more data. Unlocked progress achievements and rewards cannot be shared with any player who joins the game after it is completed. - People joining your game will have to be friends with your platform. Steam Users[]

Steam users are not able to join co-op games unless they are friends on Steam. It's best to make use of the Steam client to invite or join friends.

Crossplay Xbox and Windows 10

You can invite a friend to your Xbox game using the Xbox party feature. This feature is available on the Windows Xbox app and Xbox.

Once they accept the invite it will redirect them to your game. They will be able to determine that they're connected when they see a little house icon in the world.

PS4[]

PS4 users are unable to join co-op with friends who are also using PS4.

Switch[]

Switch is the newest platform. It is a local wireless co-op as well as Internet co-op to Switch friends. Crossplay isn't available on Switch.

Servers dedicatedServers Dedicated

Dedicated Servers are available for players who want to play together, but are on different platforms. GAMES They are also useful for players who want to play with more than four players. Dedicated servers allow for up to 8 players. There are a variety of options based on the platform you select to play on as well as the platform of your partner.

- Steam and PS4 versions can also rent a dedicated server from Nitrado or Gportal. They can also utilize self-hosted servers, provided there is a computer available to host them. - Microsoft versions of the game will only use dedicated servers rented from a Microsoft Preferred provider, currently Nitrado or Gportal. Microsoft will not allow connection to servers hosted by self-hosted servers. To find players to connect with, look through the multiplayer channels on the Official Astroneer Discord Server. Once there you post a message to the channel, and other users will message you back via DM, where chat amongst you can continue.
